    This is a criminally underrated game. And I think it's due in part to it's glitches. The motion captures are probably the best I've seen in all the series. And I think we already know that the boss battles are arguably the best hands down.

      Add to the fact that the developers stated they were far more interested in finishing DLC over fixing all of the bugs which turned off even more people.
      Even after the patch, the game still runs and plays much worse than Arkham City.

      Yessss finally! Troy Baker’s turn as the Joker in this is criminally underrated. He captures a young version of Hamill’s Joker perfectly while adding his own bit of unhinged savagery. Pure genius and it’s amazing. Also love the character design, the card suits vest, purple robe, and his face and hairstyle. They hit it out of the park with this Joker.

      Primarily for the glitches that were mostly patched and the continuity errors. Origins takes place before Asylum but this Batman has stuff that he would've gotten or made after the events of City, like the enhanced detective mode, which was a prototype in Asylum and the grapel boost which was also a prototype in City, along with multiplayer which seemed rather silly since the first 2 were songleplayer only. Now Im sure there's other reasons but these are just some, but I still enjoyed this game and played it again multiple times. 😊😊

      I haven't played it, nor am I some sort of big comic fan, but some of the story/character decisions do bother me, like the Shiva fight, Shiva is one of the only characters in the comics to be 100% better fighter then Batman, she may not be as smart but in a straight fight she'd always win, so why isn't her boss fight on par with Deathstroke(who is more fo a Nightwing enemy if I recall but I could be wrong about that). Also you know, meeting all of these people in 1 night.
      Just saying as a more casual fan some of the decisions bother me, not all of them, like Copperhead being female instead of male like the comics and other media doesn't really bother me because Copperhead is so forgettable in the comics, but others are annoying.

    • @Ok-eg8dg
      @Ok-eg8dg 5 років тому

      @@DeutscherDummer arkhma knight main story was pretty stupid. What was scarecrow motivation? Why was red hood a downgrade from his comic counterpart because since joker is dead and some ppl believe batman did it? Without joker, red hood is useless as a batman story. Not to mention it didn't even say anything about Jason's morals compared to batmans, which was one of the best parts of under the red hood. Not to mention the bad boss battles and overused tank battles

    • @DeutscherDummer
      @DeutscherDummer 5 років тому

      @@Ok-eg8dg I agree on the second part, those "bossfights" were such a disappointment. But on the first: Well, Scarescrow has as much motivation as the Joker has. He's insane. He is obsessed with fear, and wants to create the perfect fear toxin, to be terror incarnate. He believes that in the end, everyone acts out of fear, and anyone can be made to fear. That's why he wants to break Batman, to show that there is nothing stronger than fear, than his fear toxin.
      Talking about Jason Todd, this was just a different take. It wasn't "Under the Red Hood", just an adaptation into the Arkham Universe. The big gripe Todd had after his "death" was not with the Joker directly, but rather that even though he had been Robin, not just Batmans sidekick, but also a very close friend, Batman was still not willing to kill Joker. Jason died and to him it seemed Batman didn't even care. He didn't kill Joker, he just got a new sidekick. Combined with Jokers torture and the mental conditioning he got from him, his reasons for hating Batman are understandable.
      The story was well done in my opinion, but the pacing wasn't great. The gameplay was more repetetive than ever, and the tank driving wasn't real a big enough change, it just got annoying. Also, that Deathstroke bossfight. HOLY SHIT, they rehashed that boring tank-boss fight from earlier for a fight against the guy who had gotten one of the best bossfights ever in Origins. Still annoys me so much.

    • @Ok-eg8dg

      @@DeutscherDummer well Jason was Bruces adopted son, Not friend. That makes it worse for him. All robins are his sons, whether adopted or not. Except the real son is a dickhead lol. But Jason, tho he wasn't under the red hood iteration, he was a huge downgrade from him. He seemed so stupid and had multiple times to kill him but didn't. And he also made an army and spent years planning only to easily let it go. He had no other goals, under the red hood wanted to show batman he is willing to do what bruce won't to those who aren't afraid: kill them. This red hood didn't. It didn't even address that topic that Jason killed. And deathsroke was the biggest downgrade, in origins I was loving that fight and even restarted it at the end cz of how fun and unique it was

    This is my personal favorite Batman game. Reasons: it’s story is pretty much a one-shot Batman movie with no blatant connection to a sequel (you can play it alone and get a full story compared to the Arkham games). I like boss fights, and this one has the most of the series, granted, lesser fights, but way more of them. It’s Christmas themed, making it a great festive time for everyone. Lastly, it’s basically the size and scope of Arkham city, which I say probably has the best size for a game world without it being too big.

      I disagree; Asylum is a tight little package, there's no excess, nothing that doesn't need to be there to weight it down. Knight is heavy and clunky by comparison, every other section being "go fast in the Batmobile, go fast in the Batmobile, blow stiff up in the Batmobile" or my personal favourite "be stealthy (???) in the batmobile" Knight also relays way to heavily on the big story reveal of who Arkham Knight is, when there is nothing in the preceding Arkham games to justify his inclusion as such a major plot point that would affect Bats the way it does; the pathos for that only exists in having any knowledge of Batman outside of the Arkham universe, if all you knew about Batman was Arkham then there's no reason to care about the fact that Arkham Knight is Joe Bloggs (in case anyone hasn't played it)

      In Asylum I didn't like the world and gameplay enough to complete the Riddler quest.

    I just wish that more people played the online of this game, it was a blast for me, and so much fun while it lasted!
    By the time I finished the main story, nobody was playing online anymore, so I didn't experience much of it.
    As for the main game, it was a blast too! Went in with low expectations, and it felt like an expansion to Rocksteady's trilogy. The bar was set way too high, because the game would need to be a masterpeice to reach it. But it was still really good!
    It did have a few problems, but it defintely leaves you feeling content.
    I remember on my new game plus playthrough, my friend called me while I was playing, and he was literally at the same point of the game that I was at, except his game's objective marker bugged out. So over the phone, I had to give my friend instructions on where to put Batman on the map, constantly asking my friend what his surroundings look like, as if I was giving him driving instructions.

      By the time you finished? Online was broken from the start. Depending when you played, it may have had less people, but the servers were some of the worst I've seen. My earliest online Trophy is listed exactly one week after the game released and even then you were looking at about 20 minutes to an hour just to get one lobby matched with enough people to start it up. Most of my online Trophies though were achieved about seven months later. The last few I had I scrounged up in early 2016 by using a boosting thread since by then I think it was just too near impossible to find a match legitimately; plus, those last couple Trophies were hard as shit. Maybe if servers worked from the start, I could have gotten them without needing to boost since I would have been able to get multiple matches in within the time it took just to find one.

    I'm sort of a new Batman fan, only got interested in the franchise about a year or so ago, so all of the games already were released when I showed interest in playing them. So, I decided to play them in chronological order, not by first released to last. Obviously that meant Origins was the first one I played through (I played about the first five minutes of City, but turned it off when I realized two of the games took place before that one) And I can honestly say I enjoyed Origins more than the others. Maybe it was unfair for me to play them in the order I did; since Asylum was the first in the series to be made, and I played Origins, the third, before it, Asylum felt small and empty to me with the lack of mechanics that I was introduced to in Origins. But I understand it was the first, so I forgave it quickly. And while I agree Asylum had the best overall feel due to the creepy and run down institution, I still love Origins the most. It was my first Batman game, so it'll always hold a special place in my heart. Gameplay wise, it wasn't as fun as Knight or even City, I really enjoyed the boss fights and side missions. The inclusion of the crime scene investigations was amazing, and I was sad to learn it wasn't in the previous two games, but I was happy to see it return in Knight. One thing that always felt off about Origins though, was enemy placement. In Asylum it made sense that criminals roamed the halls and the outside of the grounds. They were patients recruited to help stop you. In city criminals were everywhere, they were prisoners. Even in Knight criminals would either be part of riots, drive around in cars, or just casually walk down the street. But in Origins, they kind of just stand in specific locations and do nothing. Like there's just a group of SWAT officers standing outside the GCPD for some reason, rather than actually patrolling the city. Now that I think about it, there's a surprising lack of police presence in Gotham on the night Origins takes place. It's been a while since I've played it, so maybe there's a good reason, but as far as I know, the city was just on mandatory curfew due to criminals. At least in Knight, the entire place was overran with extremely dangerous characters, so it makes more sense that a police car was few and far between. My point to that long ramble is that Origin's NPCs are placed in the most random areas, and there's no real reason for it. They aren't robbing stores, stealing cars, or really doing anything. They just stand there and wait for you to show up. But overall it'll still always be my favorite of the series. The passive music that plays in the background when you're just flying around Gotham is haunting, but in a good way.

    Also, there were more graphical glitches in this video than I recall seeing when I played. (like the Mad Hatter leg going through his coat)

    The Arkham games are the best! Is it possible that you will review Arkham Knight next, Jirard...? I hope you eventually will, as it will complete all of your reviews of this phenomenal franchise, although my personal struggle to platinum Knight took awhile I know you can still do it :)!!!

    An underrated gem..the choice of rogues alone make it my second favorite game in the series.

    This is actually my favorite game in the series and in my opinion the second best in terms of actual quality (best being City) I wish It would actually appear in the Arkham game collections cause i wanna play it on current consoles.
    Not to mention the Carol of the bells rendition on the main Menu is beautiful.

      It took me a long time to appreciate Origins because I was so bitter at the change in timing in combat responses. But that carol of the bells came on over my playlist one day and it made me replay it, and I just completely changed my opinion of the game.

    I have a fairly fond memory of this game. I never actually played any of the Arkham games, but my younger brother picked them up and started playing. He absolutely loved them, and played them all the time. When he finally got to the deathstroke fight, I had an older brother moment I thought had passed. He asked me to beat the boss for him. (I somehow did it, with that fight being my only experience with the game still)

    SUPER late to the party but on a bit of a Completionist binge and the brief "I know what I said" joke at basically 20 minutes is just exemplary of why I am digging the hell out of this dude.
