Jirard ... if you think "Give Me God of War" is the hardest thing you've ever done ... oh boy ... wait until you try to complete "Celeste". Especially with a certain type of strawberries

Instead of once like you did in the video against the Valkyrie queen..... Also wait what? 4-5 god of war games like this to come? Who said that? WE NEED A SOURCE!!!!!!!
One of my... absolute favorite things in the game: The stories on the boat. It's not just the metaphors used or the knowledge obtained, but how, once near a dock, they had the foresight to make the characters go "Oh. We'll continue this later.", then, once back on the water... THEY DO! And that appeals so much to my "Don't wanna miss a THING!"-mentality. Plus, it keeps the boat rides from feeling too boring! Oh, and... no fixed loading?... *kisses fingers* Bless you, devs.

Idk if you have played it on gmgow, but if you haven't, give it a try.
Yeah, those Valkyrie fights are no joke. I usually use the Blades of Chaos over the Leviathan Axe, but I still used both repeatedly throughout the fights, using all four runes the moment they were off cooldown, and constantly switching arrow types for that one Valkyrie that summons multiple other enemies with her. It takes an insane amount of pattern recognition, muscle memory, timing, and just sheer grit. Really fun though to have actually been able to have finally beaten her though.
Yeah, I needed all four runics (maxed out ofc) + Atreus' wolves runic maxed out + the Gauntlet projectiles and even then, the Valkyrie Queen took hours. It was a narrow victory.
i plan on doing when i get around to a new game plus. and max out the mist armor. so i actually stand a chance of beating them. also with the higher level armor you have higher states and the bonus on the ability's are active too.

Personally, I'd argue there is a lot to be critical of. The pacing is bogged down by the world and missions. The combat lacks the depth of other games. The open world is tedious to navigate. And the story is told entirely through cutscenes rather than gameplay
@@FraserSouris my god have you played the game on a any difficulty higher then normal. ill admit that the pacing is a bit lacking but the combat has real depth and strategy even only a few hours in, and it only get more complex.

I feel this pain, I'm playing it for the first time and the valkyries for the most part have kicked me like a dog on normal, I find the entire game to be pretty difficult even on normal, although now that i'm getting towards the end and have pretty good gear I rarely get taken out, but the number of deaths i've received in this game are pretty high. It doesn't help that apparently I started with the hardest valkyrie that you can fight that's not the secret final one and she kicked my ass for five hours straight
My first valkyrie was kara and boy oh boy did I not realise that she was far from the easiest. I fought about 2 valkyries before i gave up and decided to hunt them down later, so when I got my mist armour I went ahead and did so. They actually became pretty easy (I was on balanced so that probably had something to do with it). I even took down the valkyrie queen on my first try after watching a dozen videos of other people taking it down in 5 mins, or 38 seconds, or on GMGOW without dmg so I'm kinda proud about that
Actually I think that the valkyries are pretty moderate in terms of difficultly, save for sigrun. Even on GMGOW, it took me no more than a few minutes. Sigrun however, ho boy. Took me 2 hours AT LEAST.
"the valkeries should be attempted when you get the best gear near the end game" whoops i accidentally came across the one on muspelhiem and i eventually beat it and i was only about halfway through the main story
Did the same thing, but that's not a bad thing. If you actually managed to beat her, you should be mentally prepared to face most of the others. God knows I was. By comparison, they just felt so slow and predictable
I came across the one under the giant corpse and legitimately thought I had to beat it to move on in the game so spent hours under leveled banging my head against the wall until she died...then found out it was optional area and I just had to turn around to continue the story haha
Just finished it, and this comment has no spoilers, but that ending gave me chills. The emotional payoff aswell as the setup for the sequel... Oh my god
Ribit, since Yakuza, like any game of it's style, is extremely long I wouldn't expect it anytime soon, I also would like to see him do some Yakuza games though.
i loved this game. they didnt reboot him, they didnt throw the last games under, they continued. they gave a new story, but used the old ones to push it forward without needing to play the last ones to do so and im SO INTO IT.
You get to tear in two werewolves vertically. Great sell point right there. I've done many a finishings, but the werewolf ones are the most satisfyingly brutal. Bless the developers' souls, they knew exactly what the series needed. It was like "Resident Evil 4", it rejuvenated the series. Hopefully they won't fuck it up when it comes to the inevitable sequel.
Beat it yesterday. Stunning. As powerful and amazing as Max Payne 3, Metal Gear Solid 3, The Last of Us 1 (I just pretend the expansion does not exist.), and Final Fantasy X. Wonderful, powerful, difficult game. 10/10.
This is my personal GOTY for 2018, hell I would probably even go as far to say it is defiantly one of my favorite games of all time, I love its story, gameplay, world, mythos, and so much more!
Hey Jirard - I don't know if it's something you've been working on or not but your pronunciation is awesome in this review. Idk if that's a weird compliment or not to give but in the past sometimes you would speak words too quickly so they would seem slurred. I just noticed that you didn't do that at all here and it's really great! Also great review! Hope you have a good weekend man!
I literally waited 7 months until I got this game. And at least completed the game on a single playthrough on give me God of War with the exception of some of the collectibles and the Trials in Mephelhim just to watch this video. ANNNNDDDD it was all worth it.
Truly a masterpiece and easily my favorite God of war. Also, loved the leviathan axe! Always my go to weapon even when the blades would be a smarter choice, the axe was just a blast to use, when not just using my fists of course.
I absolutely love this channel. I had already watched an entire playthrough of God of War but I was still excited to watch this all the way through. I love that you review games but your videos are so much more than just the game. Truly content that elevates the games themselves and goes above and beyond in entertainment value.
Oh I still remember playing this game. It had me hooked up to my PS4. So refreshing to see a good Single Player game, with enough exploration and Sidestuff to do, a very good combat system and a story with character developement that always wanted me to see what happens next. And in the end, the ultimate test of your skills, concentration while fighting the valkyries - especially the Queen, she was one hell of a fight, where you had to remember all of the skills of the former ones, and one mistake cost you quite alot of HP, losing focus for just a moment basically killed you. But it was rewarding as hell if you beat her.
Gunnar Karotte you should try horizon zero dawn it’s not exactly challenging considering you’re kind of a badass through the game but it has enough exploration and side quests not exactly character development can’t really describe it you just need to see it
@@andremerrick4925 It is one of the games I am still thinking about getting to play it. But you need enough time to tackle this game. Currently, I don't have that much time so... one day.. I think...
I had so much fun beating this game at god of war mode but I actually lost sleep, gained minor ptsd (guess which Valkyrie did that), and broke 2 controllers throughout the playthrough but overall was amazing hope other people can try this but please you have been warned that you will cry, you will suffer and you will become a god XD
Blade BloodStorm I just got to the final section with baldur on the same mode and i feel exactly what you went through lol. I had to take a break and going to try to beat it tomorrow but im so close after all that work.
I’ve completed most parts of the game first time very recently (Sigrun this morning tbh) but I sat through this whole video. It’s a nicely made video. Feels good to someone having similar appreciation of something that you have in the same way. New Like +
Great video and analysis, however, Kratos doesn't keep his blades to not be manipulated. He literally can't get rid of them, he wakes up on the shores with the blades beside him. They continually find their way to him.
God of war was already mature and had a deeper story actually ... cmon , who says the older god of war had no story , simply didn't play them or didn't care about the plot to actually notice it !
thats not what people are saying theyre saying how in the previous games Kratos is mostly represented as an angry rage filled killer but in this newer game he has more depth to him
that's exactly what i was saying... u didn't get the point either EVEN in the old games Kratos was shown in depth , it showed his humanity , showed a high contrast to his Rage to make the RAGE more impactfull , showing him in more humaine moments Makes his vengeance and rage even more impacting
Anubis Alex the deal with people noticing the story in this game more than in the original trilogy, is that the story is more exposed and the people who play the game give more of a fuck, because the hack and slash games were like “Kill kill kill kill kill, I don’t care about story” but people now give more of a fuck about the story
@@AnubisTheMaster Especially those moments where he was just a fucking MONSTER. Why do you think he is so damn reluctant to use those blades, to bring up that past?
I second that rating. It's really worth completing it. It's not too hard on medium. But Sigurn (9th Valkyrie) is still an enormous challenge. Just get all the trophies. Personally I don't think I will do Give me God of War mode. I'll probably do hard, though.
Ribit, Complete it is probably one of the highest achievements in the gaming industry, only surpassed by stuff like GOTY and such, glad the devs of the game have been getting the praise the deserve for God of War 2018, the passion of the devs and the rest of the team is very noticable with the game, and you can see Jirard's passion when he's talking about the game, the devs' passion + Jirard's passion are amazing to see.
That's fair, that's more or less how I feel about too. I don't own a ps4 though, so it's going to be a bit before I can get my hand on it. Personally, I'm still waiting eagerly for the persona 5 completion. I do hope he's still working on it
I regret 2 things! 1. Didn't bought the God of War as Soon as possible bcause I thought it might be just another typical action game. 2. Haven't subscribed to this awesome UA-camr even tho his videos have been shown alot of times in my home page😂 Love your videos
This game is simply phenomenal. It delivers on all levels: character development, story, combat, gameplay. There were 2 or 3 moments where I was legitimately taken back by how deep the combat system is; and the crafting system is perfect. Not once was I frustrated by not having enough inventory space/resources to enjoy playing the game (like horizon zero dawn) or annoyed because it was overly convoluted like mass effect Andromedas (blueprints what). I also loved how playing on Give me God of War difficulty was itself a different experience by having to approach each encounter with strategy in mind.. like mentioned in the vid they change the rules on you.. you actually have to use parrys, axe trips, axe throw freezes, and atraeus to make it through encounters, enemies power up during fights (which can make or break whether you’re successful), and enemies even have different moves. Its amazing. It’s hard not to be impressed by the attention to detail and experience. Definitely makes you wish more studios put as much into their games as Cory and Sony Santa Monica did here. So much about this game is done right that it reminds you how important the basics and attention to detail are, especially in a time when studios are regularly releasing buggy games (ie Andromeda, Fallout 4). Horizon Zero Dawn, the original Mass Effect trilogy, and God of War 4 are among my favorite games of all time, and while the ME trilogy and Horizon Zero Dawn are amazing, each has its own issues. For example, the ME trilogy suffers from texture popping/gfx issues/bugs (aka polish) and Horizon has polish but the inventory and crafting felt limiting/grindy and the dialogue wheel was a bit of an illusion. God of War 4 doesn’t fail to deliver on anything it tries to do, everything it does it does well. Cinematically, it’s on another level entirely from most games. You become immersed. As a point of contrast, Final Fantasy 15 was the first FF game I ever played. It was touted as a great game for fans or newcomers of the series and while I enjoyed gameplay, I was disappointed in the storytelling and characters. The story felt convoluted and incomplete and the characters were all underdeveloped or boring/trope. Whereas in GOW everyone is fleshed out AND INTERESTING. Using the shrines, mimir (telling stories), atreaus actively reading aloud from his mother’s journal and banter between the characters to tell the lore of the world is an awesome way to develop the characters and educate the player -and while this is something we typically see in video games today, the quality of the voice acting, script, and the overall execution make it stand apart and immersive. I’ve always debated whether a perfect 10 was achievable in this day and age of timetables, impatience, indifference, and corporate greed but after completing GOW4 it removed all doubt, a 10/10. GOW4 is a masterpiece and hopefully opens the door to a new age, a golden age, of amazingly well executed single player games. One can hope at least. And while hoping, hopefully the other studios and industry get a few takeaways as well: if you’re going to do something, do it well.. make a good game the best it can be from gate, and the commercial success will follow. Cuz we’re tired of halfassed buggy annual bullshit.
This game was so good, that it made me get a bloody Platinum trophy for it. I got it, a lazy ass, that wouldn't do this things. Get this game if you have a PS4, you won't regret it.
The Tale of Atreus All Spartans are great Warriors. They train from birth, their lives were discipline, duty, battle and death. Life was Grim and they greeted it Grimly. But Atreus of Sparta was unlike the rest of them. He wore a smile even in the worst of times. He was Happy. He inspired others to hope, that though they were machines of war, yet their was humanity in them... Goodness. When the day came for him to lay down his life in battle, his sacrifice saved countless others and turned the tide of the battle in their favour. The General carried him home on his shield alone, and buried him with all the honours of Spartan Custom. His memory was a comfort in dark times...
Best God of War hands down, Kratos and Atreus' relationship is just so well done it's immensely compelling throughout all the game, looking forward to more of this new series
The whole game being basically one long camera roll/take kept me so immersed. I bought a PS4 Pro for this game alone and it was my first platinum. Absolute masterpiece.
I am currently playing through this game on Give me God of War mode on NG +, and I am not regretting it one bit. It’s so much fun to play through this game’s incredible story again, and have a whole new level of combat challenge, to anyone who has not played Dad of War on the hardest difficulty, please do, it’s a treat.
It only took me about 40 minutes to beat the valkyrie queen but i was on give me a balanced story but now im doing it on give me god of war im not at the queen just yet
I'm still trying to complete this game but I hate going back for the collectibles. The areas are so linear it's just a huge chore to go slog back through them. That's the only thing stopping me from 100% I have 100%ed every other God of War except Ascension as well.
aZombieDictator I don't have a problem with going back to areas I've already went to so I can get some collectables that's what makes a game like God of War so enjoyable.
I just don't like going back because it's a chore, you have to remember exactly how to get around the linear areas, then go all the way back when you get everything. If you could just fast travel from any point it wouldn't be as bad. Open world collectables are great where you can just fast travel and approach them without doing much, but linear collectibles like this, just no.
aZombieDictator but if you are going to make a open world game you only want to use fast travel to get to specific areas like you have stated and you don't want them right beside each other and in this they are only used to get closer to a objective not right beside it which makes it good
Rick Harrison Pawn Shop What God of War fails to realize is that what makes backtracking in other Open World Games practically non existent is the fact that you never really have to take the same path to get to your destination. Thus feels like a fresh discovery every single time you come across something that's been under your nose the whole time.
This is and was my first 100% game. It just called me back to play. Even Sigrun in NG+. I waited to watch this video till I completed it. So now to finish the video. Thank you for inspiring me to complete it and all that you do.
Man the Vivaldi run to get that gear pfff. I just kept on going in. Puzzles, killing shitloads of enemies and opening all the crates. This game rocked my boat and i was 100% in. Shame they didnt do a extra DLC for the realms you havent been to.
Never played GOW 1, 2, or Acension. I played 3 on the PS3 and that was pretty fun but this one has completely blown me away. Eclipses The Last of Us as my favorite PlayStation game (I guess favorite of all time, because I don't own an Xbox)

I heard He has a nice little cabin in hades. Visits almost every year
the Valkyries were so hard and i was on the second easiest difficulty, they took me at least and hour per boss and a day on the boss
@@Logan_but_not Gondul was tough for me as well, but when I faced her she did the Valhalla attack about 8 times in a row sometimes. Kicked my ass

"the valkeries should be attempted when you get the best gear near the end game"
whoops i accidentally came across the one on muspelhiem and i eventually beat it and i was only about halfway through the main story
Did the same thing, but that's not a bad thing. If you actually managed to beat her, you should be mentally prepared to face most of the others. God knows I was. By comparison, they just felt so slow and predictable
He beat the first Valkyrie he came across on hard, so I think he’s referring to God of War Mode.
I came across the one under the giant corpse and legitimately thought I had to beat it to move on in the game so spent hours under leveled banging my head against the wall until she died...then found out it was optional area and I just had to turn around to continue the story haha
Spazbo4 you mean gondul she is the only Valkyrie that kicked my ass a lot of times other than Sigrun of course the other ones where easy
Spazbo4 what difficulty... 😂

i loved this game. they didnt reboot him, they didnt throw the last games under, they continued. they gave a new story, but used the old ones to push it forward without needing to play the last ones to do so and im SO INTO IT.
The Valkyries were insanely hard to beat, but the satisfaction after beating each of them, especially the Queen, was indescribable.
The entire part of getting the blades of choas felt amazing

I literally waited 7 months until I got this game. And at least completed the game on a single playthrough on give me God of War with the exception of some of the collectibles and the Trials in Mephelhim just to watch this video. ANNNNDDDD it was all worth it.
Truly a masterpiece and easily my favorite God of war. Also, loved the leviathan axe! Always my go to weapon even when the blades would be a smarter choice, the axe was just a blast to use, when not just using my fists of course.
Well...terrible opinion but ok.
No doubt about it: They modeled Kratos's new facial hair after Jirard's awesome beard.

Currently, I don't have that much time so... one day.. I think...

Great video and analysis, however, Kratos doesn't keep his blades to not be manipulated. He literally can't get rid of them, he wakes up on the shores with the blades beside him. They continually find their way to him.
God of war was already mature and had a deeper story actually ... cmon , who says the older god of war had no story , simply didn't play them or didn't care about the plot to actually notice it !
thats not what people are saying theyre saying how in the previous games Kratos is mostly represented as an angry rage filled killer but in this newer game he has more depth to him
that's exactly what i was saying... u didn't get the point either
EVEN in the old games Kratos was shown in depth , it showed his humanity , showed a high contrast to his Rage to make the RAGE more impactfull ,
showing him in more humaine moments Makes his vengeance and rage even more impacting
The story of Kratos was very complex, but Kratos just wasn't.. Only screaming and killing.. but i dont care i fucking love those games too

When the day came for him to lay down his life in battle, his sacrifice saved countless others and turned the tide of the battle in their favour. The General carried him home on his shield alone, and buried him with all the honours of Spartan Custom. His memory was a comfort in dark times...

I'm still trying to complete this game but I hate going back for the collectibles. The areas are so linear it's just a huge chore to go slog back through them. That's the only thing stopping me from 100%
I have 100%ed every other God of War except Ascension as well.
aZombieDictator I don't have a problem with going back to areas I've already went to so I can get some collectables that's what makes a game like God of War so enjoyable.

What God of War fails to realize is that what makes backtracking in other Open World Games practically non existent is the fact that you never really have to take the same path to get to your destination. Thus feels like a fresh discovery every single time you come across something that's been under your nose the whole time.
