Classy I always rely on you for the real breakdown of whats going on with these TVs. NOBODY covers these most important aspects. Everyone says this is brighter or whatever but you're the only one that, for example, points out the frame drop stutter on Samsungs that I have on my 10 year old TV. Keep it up!

Hi Classy, thanks for the fantastic content! You mentioned the A95L struggles with dark, HDR low bit rate streaming but that SDR was where it performed well. Is there a difference for SDR streaming between the A95L and the G4? I.e., does the renowned Sony processing pull ahead here, or not really?
I still find it rather amazing/extremely disappointing that a select group of experts for a heralded tv shootout have not discovered the correct testing material after all these years of tv shootouts. How is it a relative newcomer such as Classy figured this all out. People rely on qualified testing of tv’s to make a purchase. Apparently, the value electronics tv shootout is nearly useless since it apparently is not familiar with testing material as simple as Classy uses and his methodology.
Umm im not a rocket scientist by any means but I have a feeling it’s because the shootout is basically as soon as the first batches of the tv are even released so its not enough time to spend with the tv to find the small issues or big issues as most reviewers don’t actually own the tv to spend that time with it except maybe a few who aren’t actual calibrators 🤔
The other thing is, I think they only use HDR footage to test the TVs to be fair to Samsung. So the Dolby Vision issues in the Sony may not have shown up. (Someone correct me if I’m wrong)

Can you make summary
for uploaded tone curve from Calman for game mode on the LG G4. What are the suggested roll off points. From your examples, should roll-off point 2 (4000) be 100? (vs the default of 60?)
The colors on the G4 is so similar to the qd-oleds. They're not as saturated, but they're not bad at all and in some cases more realistic. Saturation does not equal better picture in every use case anyway. The pop from pure white with the MLA woled, slightly better motion handling, slightly sharper details or on par with the Sony, 144hz refreshrate, freesync AND gsync compatibility, 4 hdmi 2.1 instead of 2 on the sony with one of the 2.1 being the earc, good anti glare capabilities, 5 year panel warranty and currently ON SALE in my country making it less than 2/3 of the price on the Sony makes it a nobrainer for me.

Hi, what firmware version did you use in the S95D? I see the version just came out: 1066.4 dated May 02, 2024. Do you think there might be any chance that Samsung will improve the tone mapping in the future? Do you calibrators have the opportunity to talk to Samsung technicians to suggest improvements or any problems? Thank you.
They definitely will, alongside other issues like heating
Classy does the a95k suffer the same with dark scenes as the a95l
I feel like the S95D and A95L look more natural/realistic. Idk if it’s just like this on the video but the G4 seems to have a blue tint to it, feels like it messes up the colors a little.
I think that is mostly just the differences in how WOLED looks on camera compared to QD-OLED. They are very difficult to shoot at the same time, so I don’t think the difference is particularly significant in person. WOLED leans blue and QD-OLED leans magenta. This effect is greatly exaggerated on camera.
Congratulations to LG for the big steps made, it must be admitted that the g4 this year is a complete te in everything, in addition to bringing out some extraordinary images, I was sure, it will be a definitive TV for me, for years 😍

I do partially agree with what you said about mini-led and blooming. It is correct that it is still a thing and 2000 zones is not enough and we need much more precise backlight control to achieve comparable contrast to OLEDs. However, people need to understand that OLED is emissive tech, and LCD is transmissive tech, therefore you don't need 8 million zones in order to achieve zero blooming, because that light still has to pass through a VA LCD layer which has 6000-7000:1 contrast and blocks a good deal of light on its own... Since this year we will be getting 3000 plus zones on 65 inch TVs, I honestly think we are really close to achieving perfect blacks with Mini-Led tech soon. At least with chinese brands. Sony doesn't even care about blooming anymore. They still sell X90L for 1500$ which has like... 80 zones? Absolutely ridiculous.

If you want a better experience the money would be better spent for a Sound System for example. And if you already have one, keep the money still not worth it 😅. Maybe if you're a heavy gamer.
@Classy Tech Calibrations do you know if the latest A95L batches like march and April builds still have the green tint hdr issue? I have heard that it’s only on the early models prior to the march builds. Do you know if there’s any truth to that?
i am happy with a 95l i turned down green red and blue in the bias setting for dolby vision. I still love my sony. There is no reason to to get another tv.
This looks like a pretty damn good stream! I will have to watch all of this later which for me is surprising given its length. I glossed over it and there seems pertinent info everywhere. It sure seems LG keeps rocking their dated technology where you can't even see the difference between a QD OLED and a WOLED! Plus that 5 year panel warranty is a real draw! I own 2 LG OLEDs, a C6 and a G2.
1:51:58 is there any chance this issue for the Sony could be some form of chrominance overshoot for QD-OLED? It just seems like near black, the red and green sub-pixels are firing when they’re not supposed to, just like the white sub-pixel on WOLEDs. I feel like that may explain why Sony can’t fix it in this model either? As an owner I’m just frustrated and trying to understand why
you should stream more often. Dont worry so much about the camera making different displaytypes look different , we all know that by now

I have a Panasonic Player where is the option to select TV or Player Led Dolby Vision? The only setting for DV I see is the On/Off Flag.
There isn't one. If you don't have the latest firmware it should play in TV led. With the latest firmware it will be player led if the TV is over 1000 nits.

SO should i pull the trigger this time? Mostly really mostly for Tv series & Movies.. & a bit of PS5 i like the things u always teaching & i like the sharp detailed depth, highlights, colors blacks & white .. etc i will be getting G4 next years 83 for the living room.. thats done!, but for my first oled in the room.. should i go with A95L? 77” I really like accuracy so much!, but also that wow factor. I didnt try the filmmaker, proffesional or any since i dont have an oled but “i think” i will go standard or cinema.. and i have to wait another year if i wan to get 2 G4 since they are too late on realesing LG’s in my country
& i watch movies with translation, is dimming something to be concerned about on a95l with traslation.

@@BlueSilvertonei did actually, in fact the whole vid. The a95l and g4 are neck in neck while s95d gets brighter but is not the most accurate. Some scenes a95 looks better , others g4
Question about color space 🤔 of TVs reviewed which is capable of 100% bt2020 in HDR content via physical media or streaming 🤔?

The Sony and Samsung are closer at like 90% and the G4 is more like 75% coverage.
I barely see any diffrence after adjust all the settings, you telling us these panels are all pretty much the same even the G4 which is capable of going brighter but otherwise no diffrence.

I just got the A95L and it has a magenta purple tint when watching content. I don’t have this issue with the S90C. Are there any settings I can change to get rid of the magenta purple?
-4 blue gain, -1 red gain in the advanced 2pt settings when you click on expert 1.

@@Derrik7 just use professional mode with expert 1 color temp. For Dolby Vision dark use expert 2 color temp and don't make the gain change because DV will already have an offset.

Nice Video Classy. So really nothing worth upgrading with the QD-OLEDs, but a significant improvement for LG MLA-WOLED. Owners of the S95C you should be quite happy, but LG G3 owners are probably pulling their hair out. Those who bought the A95L gotta be disappointed at the lack of support from Sony for not addressing those processing issues months after winning the TV shoot out, and as you’ve said, Sony is quite aware-is well documented across multiple online forums. I’ve been holding out on the Sony for such reasons but I’m glad LG has stepped up its game.

If you already have a G3, you’re set for a long time. You probably wouldn’t notice a big change unless coming from any of the Cs or a G1 or G2.
If the G3 issues don't bother you then don't worry about it.

i Had the 77g3 , the overshoot drove me crazy but if you dont see it dont upgrade to the g4 , i upgradee to the g4 and i love it no more annoying overshoot

I'm having serious issues with my g4, the image looks terrible on ps5. Teh contrast is horrible compared to my c1 and the image is blurry. I'm shocked how much I hate my g4. I've always loved OLED but this g4 looks like crap

Looking at your dark scene posterization comments…Wouldn’t the 1917 clips be in hdr10+ on the Samsung? Not plain HDR10? Maybe that’s why it isn’t showing the posterization LG/Sony are showing in hdr10. Thought 1917 is one of the rare discs with both DV and HDR10+.
The LG and Sony are in DV, the Samsung is in HDR10+. Two players and two discs.
How is it you are so easily showing the Sony errors when last years shoot out did not?
I reviewed the A95L after the shootout and found it's issues and now almost 7 months later they are still there.
Facts everybody was saying the TV was the best last year now all of a sudden it got problems

@@Tomek_Zyla wtf? I have the g4 and its not overbright 😂 and no one need hgig or tone mapping.. without these options the g4 have the best picture overall
@@interistapazzo1.9.0.8 The HgiG is needed for gaming. If not, you can use Dynamic Tone Mapping which makes the image looks bad. If you turn of both HgiG and DTM in gaming, you don't have an accurate HDR experience.

I have to warranty replace my A95L. Sounds like you're saying go with the G4 (matte screen not an option).
Don’t be sad it’s a fantastic TV. I also have an A95L and most of the issues he mentioned I haven’t had a problem with, but that can vary from someone else. I have been extremely happy with the Sony. The G4 is amazing, but the colors on a95L are better in my opinion and it was released last year, so keep that in mind. No need to compare further and enjoy one of, if not arguably the best TV you can buy!
No reason to be sad about it especially if any of its drawbacks haven't bothered you. It's still competing well in many areas against TVs released after it.

Nope, the console will upscale and the TV will play it fine.

Thanks a lot!! What would you recommend for my use case (streaming Disney, Prime, Netflix / gaming PS5, Nintendo Switch 50/50)? Can't decide between A95L and G4. Ist the Bravia 9 maybe a good option for me. I'm going 77 inch coming from a 51 inch Samsung Plasma TV (love the natural look and motion of plasma).
