    Just found your channel, not sure if you gonna live here or somthing. But the sport fish here won't be caught with dead shrimps 90% of the time. Mostly spoons and plastics or flies. However live finger shrimp on popping cork will work too. It's 20 dollars to take the ferry to the north jetty, the fishing is better there because the wind usually blows from the other side leaving the surf calm and the fish love it because it keeps the bait near the rocks. End of the jetties 4 Oz spoon 10ft rod with some stronger line you'll pull up spanish mackerel, kingfish, Jack's, reds

      My wife and I were just visiting to check out the fishing. Thanks for the info though! I mainly fish in California with simple bait and waits so I just wanted to see how shrimp did over at Port Aransas 😂 the fishing was still great, even if it was a bunch of hardhead catfish, but next time I’m at the jetty I’ll try other stuff c: I would have fished more but we came during the storm so there weren’t many optimal days to fish. Small bummer but it was still super fun regardless 👍🎣

      They are not that good to eat 😂 I’m sure if you cook it a certain way it might be good, but not the way I cooked it. Thanks for watching Mr Blueguill c:

    Fun relaxing video. I like how you and Amber didn't cook the whole fish knowing it might be bad so you can give the rest back to the Ocean. Good looking out for nature, something probably enjoyed a nice meal with the left overs. Keep it up Sven.

      I read around and a lot of people said Hardhead Catfish wasn't good eats lol. But with that said, I figured it was at least worth a try and the biggest catch for the day was the catfish haha, pretty sure I at least made a few crabby boi's day with the rest of the catfish c: Thanks for watching as always John! 👌🎣

    Wow that's a lot of catfish caught that day. Texas seems awesome for variety of species. I thought that Pigfish was a porgy of some sort at first. Wonder how it tastes... lol

      So many hardhead catfish over on the gulf coast, at least you’re guaranteed to something rather than skunk over there 😂 they’re still super cool though

      A sub also mentioned after the first video that pigfish are okay eats and not to believe the haters, mixed signals but let minnow if you ever get to try Knibbles 😂 Amber and I didn’t get to try them but that hardhead catfish was a big “nah man” lolol

      @@SvenGoesFishing try the pigfish next time sven i think they will fry up good like croaker

    • @SvenGoesFishing
      @SvenGoesFishing  2 роки тому +6

      Definitely will! :D They look like they'd fry nicely, I would treat them the same way as Yellowfin Croaker, probably bleed them well to get rid of any extra fishy taste they might have too 👌

      Thanks! I try my best, it’s kinda hard to cast an extra heavy rod haha, not much flexibility as a medium one 👌

    Dude you're eating hardheads?! lmao. Just a bit of advice. We don't eat those. They are considered trash fish and are thrown back 99% of the time. You got to find out why yourself. If you catch a Gaftop then that's a different story. Also, do you not set the hook when a fish bites?

    • @SvenGoesFishing
      @SvenGoesFishing  2 роки тому +5

      Oh yeah the Hardheads are pretty terrible lolol, I probably wouldn’t try it again 😂 and you’re right now I know why they’re considered trash fish. Do Gaftops go for the same bait? I heard from others that you’ll know you catch that catfish because they have a really apparent dorsal fin but I didn’t run into them. I kinda just grew up without setting the hook when fishing, some fish in SoCal have really soft mouths so setting the hook could rip it out of their lips. With that said, I know setting the hook is probably the better action to do every time but I like to assume the hook will set itself when the fish fights and as long as I keep tension on the line it’ll be okay 😂 Thanks for watching Vibrationz808 :D👌🎣
