Brother ya should try our river . Tail end from our damn. It's crazy good fishing. Hybrids white bass small mouth when the seasons right beefy walleye monster crappie and great catfish. Ole Edwin every won the tournament on our lake. He never fished in the lake. He cruised up on the north end of the lake up in the river where I grew up fishing. So our lake isn't all to great, but dab burn the river is where it's at
That has to be on everyone's bucket list for sure. That place is amazing, I am sure EE would probable buy the place out. LOL Old school bait would be the balsa baits.
That place is INSANE! Couple of those threw me back to when I was kid. No place like that anywhere around here, that's for sure. You've found the motherload.
I live 10 minutes from Mikes. Great place. Unfortunately Joanne’s husband Mike who started the place passed from cancer a few years ago. He was true fisherman and great guy.
I wish there was a bait shop withing driving distance of me with 1/4 of the stuff that place has, not to mention all the old and discontinued stuff. I'm honestly jealous haha👍great video. That place is probably gonna be cleaned out in a week though now!🤣
@@TheBaitmanTV 😯wow, yeah now that I remember she said she still collects I can only imagine what she has in storage when she has stuff like that on her shelves... at more than reasonable prices nonetheless. I wish I wasnt all the way up in New York!😭
Nice video! I would like to see more hunting videos like this. Great to see a store with all those old baits. You and Epic Eric should do a video on what to look for when you're searching for old baits. What packaging, made in USA, what baits to look for, etc.
3 hour drive tops for me! Great video, Baitman! I have a bait store about 20 minutes away that might be near as loaded. I'll be heading to Decatur for sure and empty my pockets and loading my garage more! LOL
I know of this store and have been there several times in my life. I was thinking of going soon to look for a new rod and reel. Watching your video made me decide to go today to do my shopping :) thanks for bringing attenetion to one of the best tackle/bait shops around :) good luck with the baits you bought!
I love the video! I’m sad to say I’ve lived in Illinois my entire life and I’ve never heard of that tackle store. I already told my dad we are going to make the trip down there to see that place. My all time favorite old school bait is the Culprit Softy Craw in Junebug. I think my dad and I were the only people who ever bought that bait because it was only around a few years; I’d love to get a few bags of them. Man, that little craw flat out caught the fish.
I had a double frog setup as a kid that I absolutely slayed them on. It was two frogs with a steel leader about a foot long holding them together. If they missed the first one they didnt miss the second. Also caught several doubles. But I have no idea who made it. Haven't seen one since I was a kid
43 years, seemed was stopping in here in early 70s to sell hoop nets, box traps. With a man named Carl Morton. We commercial fished the Sangamon near Cerro Gordon. Cool place.
Bloomington sucks for fishing tackle so I'll shop Peoria, Champaign, Springfield, etc, finally made it down to Mike's in January and found every lure and or color I had been searching for. My favorite Squarebill is no longer made, Mike's had 2 rows of them in my preferred color, and cheaper than what I've been paying on ebay. I'd wager that Mike's has more baits in that little brick cube than Bass Pro has in that huge store in Peoria! And Joann was very nice, and knowledgeable, she even followed my Instagram to keep up with my catches👍 Oh, and if you like to Catfish make sure to checkout Catfish Connection South of there in Pana, they have alot of hard to find Catfish tackle.
While working at my first law firm in Chicago I had to go down to Decatur twice for depositions. I could cry that I didn't know about Mike's Tackle World!! WHAT AN AMAZING VIDEO!! Sir, you have yourself a NEW SUBSCRIBER!!
Difently my local tackle store . Went In there looking on to spend 20 bucks walk out of there spending like a hundo. The old man that started this store would be proud rip. Glad u posted his store on UA-cam difently subscribed
Brandon Palmisano dude after talking to JoAnn it just felt right to do this video. I have caught some flack from some of the bait flippers in the world. But MIKE would have wanted the world to see it
One of the amazing things is that Joanne seems to know where most things are. If you can't find what you're looking for, she will know where it's at if they stock it.
Dude !!!! The Mother Load !!!!! Been looking for some Bandit 200`s in the (old lite) color. Ive been told they discontinued that color , man i would like to hit that place up. Wished it wasnt so far away from me . Talk em into selling online so we can all get a chance at that stock ! thumbs up here , liked the video !
been having a little bit of trouble finding my bass assassin Shad assassin's those things are great I like the mediums and the large ones just deadly for the smallmouth in the river...
LUV it oh, you could stop three Bass Pro Shop with the material that have in that one little store, I would like a website connection where I can shop in the store online
Just outta curiosity, what's the appeal to old lures and discontinued colors? Is it purely nostalgia? Or is it just an advantage to throw colors the fish haven't seen?
I asked “Mr’s mike” as my daughter calls her, she said when it came in the store, that’s what she needed to make money, that’s what she needs, she’s not going to go change prices
I walk into a small store like that walked out less 350 bucks ,you don,t know what you will find in small stores ! I was like a kid in a candy store !!!

Dude u were in my hometown...love that place... Wish I had appreciated it when I was a young buck, but good thing I'm only an hour away still 😉

Hey, You're giving away Illinois dirty little secret!!😁
I could fuel my next 1,000 episodes with that joint...amazing find!
My wallet would not like that place! Looks like a ton of fun to go through all of that! Loved all the old Mann's stuff when I was younger!
Dude so did I. Jelly Worms were the shiz

Love it! A 7” Black Powerbait Worm is how I learned to fish a Texas Rig. I’ve caught so many fish on it!
The lady owner is cool
Thanks for showing
Mike’s tackle world is the best and my go to tackle shop. Joann is amazing and a real sweetheart.
That place is INSANE! Couple of those threw me back to when I was kid. No place like that anywhere around here, that's for sure. You've found the motherload.
Justin Royal there has got to me another place or two just like it somewhere
good find. Enjoyed watching Baitman JR looking around.
Bait Jr. looks like he was having a great time. Great video.
Thats just about the most overstocked tackle shop ive ever seen! Awesome!
Been going here since I was a kid. Great store and even greater owners! Joanne is the best! Best selection of lures, new or old, in the midwest!
I go there every once in a while. That's a great shop!
I gotta get back soon. I love it
Awesome that place is my heaven I could spend all day in there. So many old baits to go though thanks baitman and jr👍🏻👍🏻
Wow this is almost worth a trip from Pennsylvania. I wonder if they still have “yesterday” prices..? It’s incredible. Thanks for the heads up. Peace
They don’t have yesterday’s prices but very competitive
Awsome store and I bet the customer service is second to none!
I asked her if she had any PoGo shads..and she gave me a 5 minute talk about em. She KNOWS her baits and the history.

So crazy to find a tackle store that loaded in the middle of BFE, Illinois.
It is BFE...
I love Mike’s been shopping there since the early 90’s! If they don’t have it it isn’t made!
That is a FACT
YO!! This is my hometown! Ole Mike passed a few years back
So I been told. I’d have loved to meet him. Thanks for watching

Do they carry older model rods and reels too?
Mostly new stuff
Nice video man, You found a gold mine!

Love this video baitman!

This is way better than Tacklewarehouse!!!!
Damn I wish I had a tackle store like that near me, in NJ we don't have anything but walmart, Dicks, and a tiny little Bass Pro

Both. Sometimes those old lures have some action or characteristics The new ones don’t
