Right on time with this for me. Thank you. I live in Ga, and apparently fishing docks, skipping JIGS, not worms under docks is the ticket. I practice in my pool, but boy let me tell ya, I can tear up a skirt and a trailer in a quick minute skipping it. I’m going to go get me some of these specific jigs and hopefully they hold up better.
Andy, you make more sense than anyone I know brother. You and I fish similarly and I would rather chunk a jig and catch three bigguns than catch 10 keepers on a crankbait. That being said the lining up the bug with your fingers is brilliant!!!! I am using that from now on. Never let anyone say you don’t have a good head on your shoulders brother. Keep on making videos so I can say my accent is not the thickest out there. Hope to meet you one day. 🤓👍
Great info thank you Andy. I was one of those guys that believed a 1/4 oz skipped better - until today :-). Also love the tip about getting the trailer straight - great stuff and good luck next season.
I've had really good luck with the skipping jig and a keitech swimbait trailer for docks. I skip them underneath, let it sink for a second and then give em a couple pops and then slowly reel in. That initial pop typically gets their attention and then that slow retrieve just gets that tail moving enough to get the fishes dialed in on that bait. It also keeps it in the strike zone longer.
Thumbs up #155😁😎🇺🇸🎣👍👍👍👏. I love the honesty and the simplicity of a country boy 👍😁. My grandparents had a farm over 100 acres and had all the animals kids could could ever dream of including a river stream which is where I learned to fish with my farm cousins 😁🤷♂️🎣🎣🤔. Point is no one is honest anymore lol, even if you pay them, but this guy didn’t lie about a single thing in this video, and I love this video and hats down 🎩 to this guy for being a true pro 🙏🏆. I learned more in this video then in any pro video, ad I have been fishing for a long time for a guy who is 33, and fished nothing but Jigs for 7 years I learned more trick I just didn’t think of and didn’t know 🤷♂️😁👍👍. The part how to fix the bait properly with the 3 finger trick awesome 👏😎, and I noticed the same thing about the half ounce jig vs 3/8 ounce jig. Also the color differences with the tidal fisheries vs normal reservoir type lakes. And who else noticed how he talked about the Rage Bug and kept saying and they bite it too 😁👍👍 lol pure honest good old country boy. Awesome 👏😎 I honestly think no one has to sell the Rage product, it’s sold already because it’s so good and the Coffee Scent works 😁🤷♂️🇺🇸🙏💆♂️🥰. I want to kiss the guy who invented the coffee scent lmao 😂. Thank you. Thank you for this video 👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣👏👏👏
With his slow southern draw you just kind of relax and listen intently. Bet it would be a hoot to have a beer in front of a campfire and listen to him swap fishing stories. Knows his stuff and enjoyed the video.
Thanks Andrew for the tips, sometime skipping becomes frustrating but this can only help. by the way I'm from a small town not far from you, Fort Lawn. Knock 'em dead this season.
So anyone got any thoughts on the trimming the skirt? I wonder if there is a time clipping them actually hurts the presentation? Falling speed, maybe fluttering out is good on a swim jig situation, something like that? I hear everyone daddy to cut them but mostly on these skipping videos. For sure I get why u would want to in this situation so I was wondering it is universal, like buy a jig, go to cutting. Jw any thoughts, or info is appreciated.
My 2c is depends what you are trying to do, to imitate (bait size), the conditions (like water temp) and the mood of the fish. I trim jigs I use in cold water or if they aren't getting the hook.... If that helps!
Jay, I sent that little kid in Louisanna a C.M.Russell watercolor card of Santa Clause in Montana at the turn of the 20th century. Told him the closest I ever got to workin for Santa was my job at Nintendo. Hard to find a place to tell ya.
Never split a bait like he says in his "fix" it puts a RIP in the bait that will continue to RIP while you use it and when fish hit it causing it to fall of and be wasted, especially when u plan on skipping it!
I need all the help I can get on making trailers and skirts last longer. I may just suck, but man I can destroy a trailer and skirt in a quick minute skipping.
I had a cop threaten to arrest me for fishing docks from my boat in a marina if I didnt leave. I told him its public water but he wouldn't listen. Game Warden later told me I was in the right which I already knew.
Had a homeowner want to go a few rounds with me because I was skipping his dock.... I think he was pissed because I had just caught his two pet 4 lber's which went in my live well.....lol.... The cops as well as the lakefront owners should learn the rules and regulations before they open their mouths!
@@russb296 I lived a 1/2 from that marina. I had 1 elderly guy who had his fancy houseboat stalled there always hassling me. He would say I have your Tx boat numbers wrote down and im turning u in. I was never no where near his boat and I didn't even skip the docks. I always fished the banks around the docks from my boat and immediately released all my bass. I told him he must have a pretty dull life if thats all he had to do was pester me all the time. One security guard new me by name and was always nice to me.
I've never skipped with anything other than a rubber collar jig, and I've NEVER had a skirt come off. I fish at least 4 days a week too. You've gotta use a hole in one skirt. You couldn't take one off if you tried without destroying it. They flare really good too, even better than hand tied.
One of my favorites. You can just tell Andy really cares about people learning these techniques. Thanks for the video.
Michael Howell 👍👍👍agreed 100 percent 😎🎣
I thoroughly enjoyed your rambling, sir... Thanks for all the useful info...
He is the best at it!
Hands down the best skipping video out there. Andy Montgomery is one of my favorite Pros period. Total class guy. Please start your own channel.

Great information from a phenomenal fisherman

Ribbed or non-ribbed Keitech?

Excellent video once again. Might be the best skipping video ive seen. My only issue was i wasnt sure if that was B Lat or Idris Elba. Great video!
Appreciate it I was just about to start my skipping practices and was wondering which chunk to put on
Man I hopes he kicks ass next year.
Steve Steve getting your wish today 2nd place with 25lb 11oz

Video is greatly detailed. Makes me want to get out and practice. Do you ever skip a white on white/shad pattern?
GREAT video!! - THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge and experience Andy!!

Damn good advice, Andy.
Your link for the Strike King Skipping Jig listed above does not go the "SKkip jig". Just so you know. :)
Great tips man thanks.
Watching this guy absolutely murder a dock on MLF. Had to come check out his story. 🍻
the background looks close to where i launch on the cal delta , tiki lagoon
Awesome video. Thanks Andy!!

What color trailer for the blue craw jig

Andy sure is at that!
Great info!
THANX from Idaho!
Excellent!!!
What depth are you talking about when you say “super shallow “ docks.
damn good info
Momentum .
Nice..
Thank your Andy from Ohio
I'd rather skip a tube because I get more bites and still have the good percentages for a big bite.
"Four or five dollars" for 8 baits? Where?
I'll take half a dozen packs. Andy, these baits retail for over a buck a piece.
Amateur tip: They'll bite it the way he has it rigged on the plain head. Maybe even get more bites.
If I could spend 1 day with a pro and make it a lesson , it would be a lesson on skipping .
Watching Andy do it in the boat makes it look a little...impossible!
Never split a bait like he says in his "fix" it puts a RIP in the bait that will continue to RIP while you use it and when fish hit it causing it to fall of and be wasted, especially when u plan on skipping it!
Right. Fish will bite it crooked or sideways. Most of the time, they bite it before it hits the bottom. They don't know the plastic is crooked.

He uses Shooter lures jigs. Nobody skips docks with rubber collar jig, they are worthless for that application. Need to be hand tied.
