  • The 2012 Honda NC700X is a versatile 670-cc motorcycle that marries fuel efficiency and fun. It's low-cost, too, starting at $6,999.

I am 5'7 and about 170 lbs. My inseam is 30 inches and the bike is a little tall for me. The seat height is at 32 inches. You soon get used to the height. It is not a super powerful bike, unlike a ninja, you are not going to wheelie when you give it too much gas. For me, it is just right. So far, I am getting 76 MPG, it is a super fun. I live in an area with lots of twisty, curvy roads and this bike is a blast! Highly recommend taking a test ride!!!

Just got one last week, it is the perfect one for me. Low center of gravity, plenty of power, smooth cornering, great gas mileage. Love the chain drive, unlike others that have posted here. Very quiet. My favorite thing is the tank trunk. It fits a full size helmet and a u lock.

Grakkerful, don't worry! I'm 6'4" + 280 lbs and it fits me like a glove. I bought one yesterday. These bikes are selling like hot cakes over here! (England)

I'm 5'7" with 30" inseam and i fit the bike well. Im not flat footed but the weight is so low that it's easily manageable on the ball of my feet.

Clever ! ,... Reminds me of the Honda CX500 of the 1980s - criticised and lambasted by "hard-core motorcyclists" as not a "real" bike, but they sold in thousands to people who wanted a smooth engine and big and comfortable bike. Couriers to tourers loaded then up and actually used to bike to the fullest of its capability every day, not occasionally on some extreme speed/angle fetish. I think the NC700 and its' brethren will actually get more people into the joys of motorcycling. ..

Possibly one of the best reviews, informative without being overwhelming.
I'm looking to buy my first bike and I'm convinced this is it.

My bike arrives soon - NC700X.
Considered the NC700S which is lower with fwd riding position-at 6'2" the X feels more comfortable, low centre of gravity for a tall bike, light and great for all types of riders even first bike buyers IMO.
Chose the all black lookd amazing. Friend got the black and white model.
Add ons: Radiator Guard to protect the exposed radiator, handle bar sliders, engine guard, centre stand

Happy with my 2014. Only problem is the seat but that's with almost every motorcycle today. They aren't designed for comfort. They're designed for people with short legs. Here's an idea Honda: Make a COMFORTABLE, LEVEL, WIDE seat but put it at 30" not 33". Now everybody's happy.

Honda, I want ABS / Traction control option (it's 2013 - should be standard on all bikes these days as not everyone can brake like Valentino Rossi ), but NOT bundled with DCT transmission. I'll change my gears myself.

I only tried an “automatic” test-riding a FJR1300 at a BMW motowerks ship in Cali one time; it was not for me. I could do it if I needed a way to get home, but not if I had the choice of using a manual bike. Automatic is just wrong! Except a three-wheeler it’s okay, Can-Am Spyder, etc. because you already feel like you’re on a Wave Runner or something strange...it’s okay to be different. I can’t get used to that on a bike. Good luck riding!

I've been averaging 68mpg, I'm 5'10" 170 fits me perfect. I ordered the Givi side bags and don't even come close to fitting. I'm sending them back and going to order the Honda. Bags

An intelligent review, touching on all the things I needed to hear.....except.....what about it's dual sport capability, or lack thereof? And maybe.....who makes parts to wring more power out of that motor. Passing trucks on the freeway is much easier with more ponies....

Great review. I bought a tall windshield that works great from California scientific in Sacramento. In stock and works great!

Very informative. This new Honda can also get in the dirt with a few alterations, so it is fast becoming a suitable "adventure bike."

Shimmy in the front under braking just before a stop could be that the wheel was not properly balanced, or even tightened to spec.

Fantastic, now in Jan 2021 I can get a barely ridden 2012 with 4,000 miles on it for $4k! I can’t afford to NOT buy it. And 100 mph is fine; I’d like to squeeze ten more hp out of it somehow...I think I can with a tune, exhaust + air-flow tweak by my great mechanic who treats them like he owns them, while charging you what HE would want to pay. I rode a KLR 650 thumper from Chicago to Yellowstone Patk & back. We’d be sitting around shooting the shit at a roadside campground at Mt Rushmore KOA somewhere, and Harley and Goldwing riders: Wait! Stop-dude you rode THAT bike here, from Illinois! Ha ha ha ha! Yes I admit, I thought I might need an ass doctor or at least a Corbin seat, but it really didn’t bother me much. (I have ridden a Harley Ultra, AND an 1800cc Goldwing to Sturgis, SD, in other years!...much more comfortable!). I put a bit taller windscreen on it, and fully loaded, I could not pass 18-wheelers in Nebraska where everyone had their cruise control set at 85 (top speed: 90 mph). I’m looking forward to riding the wheels off this 4K bike! Ride safe now.

How tall/heavy are you. I'm thinking about picking one up, but at 6'2" and 280, I'm afraid I might dwarf the thing.

If Honda doesn't want to put shaft drive on the bike, then at LEAST put on the single-sided swingarm configuration. Much easier to adjust a chain, and much less frequently. I know. I had a 2007 Honda Interceptor and I adjusted the chain 3 times in 25,000 miles. A side stand should also be standard and not an almost $200 option add-on!

There is slightly lower version of this bike (40mm lower) called nc700s and fits better shorter riders.

My big beef with the NC700X, and none of the motocycle manufactures seem to get this, is that it should have shaft drive (if you're truly a pragmatist). Shaft drive would not/does not raise the bike's price. Honda could simply take the shaft drive from the NT700V. No-brainer.
I didn't buy an NT700V because of the crappy unibody rear bags that could not even accomodate a full face helmet. And the price of the NT700V was unrealistic. $8k at best, not $12k.

But some already complain that the N.C is too heavy. Shaft drive won't help that issue.
