I know this is out of date but I wanted to say that I have a 1999 Tahoe 2 wd with the 350. Absolutely the best vehicle I have ever owned. I have 321k on it now. I sprung an unknown leak on the rearend and burnt up the rearend. $350 salvage yard cost for replacement rearend. A weekend of swapping the rear end and back on the road for 40k so far. I wouldn’t trade my Tahoe for a brand new one.
I got his #7 grow a pair of balls. its a truck not a sports car. no one is looking for extra room inside the cab they put a bed on it for a reason nor are they wanting virgin tight steering.
@@hunterstevens7208 agree, but disagree on steering. Dont know if the 95 and up gmt400s ditched the rag joint, but i like my steering as tight as i can get it. While i dont think a steering stabilizer is needed if your not sending your truck on the regular, at least swap the steering shaft for the jeep yj one and ditch the rag for a proper ujoint.
The very FIRST thing you should do to your 1500 Like that is take the Rust starting wheelwell mouldings off your wheelwells..All they are good for is holding dirt, grime and road salt and causing Rust to form. 2nd is invest in a set of weather tech floor liners. 3rd is change your exhaust to a true dual exhaust. 4th change to new headlights like you stated.
Try new non OEM intake manifold gaskets, rip out the spider injection, and keep the fuel filter replaced yearly as well as keeping your tank above 1/4 at all times to keep your fuel pump alive as long as possible. These trucks last forever after a few mechanical fixes
Ill give you a like because I too have the truck with the lift and the big tires xD and found this to be funny xD cause it doenst help the steering at all xD!!! LOL!
Cut a hole in the bed above the fuel pump, and use the piece to make a little door with weather stripping. Some people get lucky and don’t ever have to replace the fuel pump but mine failed more times than I can count in my 96 and also buy a lifetime warranty fuel pump if it does go out so you can take it back if it. And never let you fuel gauge go below half a tank lol
Nice Truck! The stock torsion keys can lift the truck 2” if adjusted. You don’t want to go any further than that or you’ll max your suspension so it won’t have downward travel if you hit a dip the front tires will loose contact. Also the reason the front and rear wheel-wells have an inch difference is because the truck is designed to have an inch of rake, it is not designed to ride level with the frame but for the wheel-well gaps to look level with an inch of forrake.
Have you ever considered swapping you center console for the Cadillac Escalade center console, it has duel cup holders and more storage towards the front. And it matches your trim

I think they teach you in driving school not to roll around town with the brights on which if the truck is lifted at all it doesn’t matter cuz the low beam angle still hits everyone in the eyes. Basically just don’t have bright ass blue led’s
My list is different. But , I have owned my truck for 23 years now . Nothing is stock no more , except wiring harness .
Truck is beautiful
Needs to be retitled: "5 Things High School Boys Should Do To Their Dads Truck"
Came here looking for legit mechanical upgrades for a K1500 I just got. Nope. Just stupid high school kid crap. Dont lift a truck unless you want to spend loads of money on suspension components every year.
Came here to read an intelligent comment but instead read a narrow minded guy who doesn’t realize this is an opinionated video. I have made a video about all the things to look out for in a K1500 but then again, I am guessing you didn’t look for any video like that either.
@@TrucksandWater Actually I did see the thumbnail for that video. And if it is strictly opinionated, why title it "5 things EVERY K1500 Owner Should Do", Instead of "5 things I did to MY K1500"? Just sayin lol
So the UA-cam algorithm would pick it up better.
You and me both thought it was a legit video
I have a 97 GMC 1500 sierra, I love it, I would like to fix it up, upgrade it, what should I do ?
how do you like the rough country suspension kit ? and steering stabalizer ?
Hey man can you help me out with the 4 bulbs I'd need to buy to match your headlight (high and low beams) and turn signals? I saw the link which is useful but I think I'll need 3 different bulb types??
1. Headlight high beam x2
2. Headlight low beam x2
3. Turn Signals x2
Thanks!!
Look at my current videos because I switched led manufactures
You forget the make of a pioneer radio? The make is pioneer. Dude.
9:49 yoooo as someone who's light sensitive...
These new LEDs literally blind me at night. I'm NOT looking right st them. It's when the passing vehicle drives by me.
Soooo yeah, maybe consider its not ppl staring silently at them. Otherwise, it's a great video 😊
Thanks 🙏 for the pointers brother. So did u change the steering box 📦 also along with the steering thing u were talking bout?
COULD U PROVIDE ME THE NAME OF THE HEAD LIGHTS? IM LOOKONG FOR THEM ON AMAZON
4 hi mod is a must have for anyone with an obs, Painless Performance part # 30802
What size wheels? I like the way those look
Honestly, these truck look a lot better with a 2 inch lift, I put another leaf spring in the back when I replaced my U bolts. Then I turned my torsion bars up by 2 full turns. Cheaper than a lift kit, and its almost the same thing.
You don’t have to say the video title every 2 minutes
I had so much respect for your opinion until you said 6000k meant the amount of lumens the headlights produce. I'm not trying to rag on you but 6000k is the white balance. 6000k is perfect white light
I have a 98 2 dr Tahoe all the square body’s are strong.
I recently bought my fathers 1997 with 131K miles. How often would I need to change the lift kit?
Agree on the radio. I have a full system in my 98. The rest of my truck is stock. I never thought too much about the steering other than the usual loose steering rack that these are known for. Finally, I heard you dont want to put LEDs in the housing because they arent made for them. Definite yes on changing the lights and the toolbox!
In any case, very nice truck! She is absolutely beautiful!
Me *running 305 70 16’s* *has tight front end* *can steer with pinky on truck*. I don’t think I really need a steering stabilizer, even on my 2000 i like to keep my front ends tight.
Thanks for the video and the very practical tips for enhancing a truck. I have a 1992 K1500 Suburban with the 6 speaker factory stereo and first thing I did when I bought it is upgraded to a modern Kenwood with Bluetooth etc. so I can answer phone hands free and stream music from my IPhone. The console in my truck is bigger than the 96/99 trucks and my 4 x 4 shifter is on the floor where I like it. I have purchased Anzo headlites and park lites but haven't installed them yet. I'm surprised you didn't mention changing out the taillights for plug and play LEDs as they are inexpensive and easy to change out. My Burb came with the RPO NZZ - OFF ROAD pkg and surprisingly 225/75 16 tires as I guess they weren't part of the Odd Road Package. I have bought a 2015 GMC factory 18 inch rims and a set of 265/70 18 inch tires but again haven't installed them.. I will be checking on you suggestion of the front stabilizer and leveling kits but will not be lifting it at all.
Alot of professionals in the comment section, PROFESSIONAL JERKS!
Nice truck.
No wonder this is a pavement princess 👑 if he took it on any other road and something happen he would have no clue what to do. Heck he has a sock on his gear shifter
That isn't a sock, it is a beer cozy Samuel Adams gave me at work. lol and what is wrong with it being a pavement princess?
It's a four wheel drive so what use is that on pavement?
I guess maybe he should go get it removed from the truck huh...fuckin idiots.
Need to confiscate this man's transfer case
I bought a console cup holder thing like you have....how did you mount it in the floor?
I too want to know this
yo thank you for this! hopefully getting my dads truck and wanna make it nice.
Hey man it’s Jason ran into you at the Walmart love the truck keep it up.
Thanks man! It was awesome to meet you!
HELP PLEASE! DO you have Spongy brakes? I have replaced everything and they still go to the floor. The mechanic says that's just the way they are. Can I do an upgrade to a later model/? I would like to fix what I have because I’m 15 and have very little cash. TY in advance
They make aftermarket break boosters for these trucks but they are expensive
@@TrucksandWater Thank you so much for your reply. 🙏
@@TrucksandWater I've been looking and I really Dont know what I'm looking for can you offer me a site or what I should be asking or looking for? TY
5:54 technical term is steering dampener
My 96 has the manual 4x4 yours must be a later year 96?
New to the c/k1500 world, I liked the vid! Lots of hate on here lol
Very clean truck. Nice
Number one should be the bull bar on the front. First thing I bought for mine lol
Looks so ugly on the older Gms
Thanks for the tip on the lights. I have a 1996 suburban k1500 with a 3’’ lift. I was going to try and buff out (I have metal polisher) the old ones. But I’m going to get the ones off Amazon. I’ve been eyeing them up for a while. By the way do know we’re I can get some plans for bush bumpers ? Been looking. Thanks for your help. It was a really good walk round. I didn’t even know about the drink holders and storage space in the back of the Center console. 😂🤣😂🤣🇨🇦
I don't know much about the bush bumpers but the lights are a must.
