- The only two things that were missing in my car were a rear view camera and CarPlay. So I decided to fit these myself and recorded to show those who might be interested in doing it too.

Great job. I was wondering that with CarPlay and on Spotify can you also change the songs by using the PCM's arrow buttons that are adjacent to the volume knob? Currently, with my iPhone connected wirelessly via AUX BT the arrow buttons work for song selection on Spotify.

The extra microphone its just for siri or now its the main microphone and it works also for the callings? Im worried about the talking quality. Thanks for your answer and for the really good video.

Ethan, that slotted iphone charger you mention, is that aftermarket or is that factory? Curious where I could get one for my Panamera.
Its aftermarket but they only did the slot for the iPhone 7 and now I have iPhone X so it doesn't fit and I wrote to the company in Germany a few times asking them if they will make the slot for iPhone X and they said No. So don't bother getting one. Very expensive and waste of money.
Hi Ethan. Impressive. Thanks so much. Can you please give me information about the Back up camera you installed. You mentioned it plugs into CarPlay device. So Thant means one does not have to buy the expensive Nav TV PCM3.1 XG CAM. What’s the resolution on your camera? Please can you post where you bought it and the model. Thanks so much
No idea. It’s been a very long time and I sold the car last year. I bought it for the same supplier that I bought the rest of the stuff from. Link in the description
Very well done, In this day and age Porsche need to give a little back to customers by providing as standard things like Apple Car Play and reversing cameras. All these things can be standard fare on even a small city runabout these days. A greedy money making exsersize

Yes it is mounted above the DAB so all the original functionality is still there.

Nope, it works through the CarPlay box that switches the PCM screen to video mode when you put the car into reverse.
Hi Ethan- nice video. You said this works with 997.2. Are you sure about this? Do i need to do any mods to the original factory radio? Where can I find more info?

Hi Ethan, I enjoyed your video and I installed the same unit on my 991 yesterday. Could I ask you where you put the main unit? I put it in back of the PCM unit, but space is so tight. I was just wondering where you put yours. Please reply, and thank you in advance. TP

Andres Diaz yes I did. NM automotive has some issues with delivery to North America so I ordered the Joyeauto system from AliExpress. Fairly easy to install. Take a look at the install video from Auto Amateur.
Shikhar Sagar, hi and sorry for the late reply.. I never saw your comment. I ended up buying the kit from Joyeauto. Relatively simple to install and I’ve been using it for over two months with no issues. Very happy to have added carplay.

They don't make it for the new iPhones since they are too big in size. I got it from a German company can't remember the name.

Nice work!! Do all the component go inside the PCM unit or there is an additional unit that you need to place under the steering wheel? I am asking because JoeyAuto (www.joyeauto.com/porsche-pcm3-1-cayenne-panamera-macan-boxster-911-wifi-wireless-apple-carplay-solution/) seems to have an additional unit, but it's not clear in your video whether yours also has this.
Yes there is an additional unit you need to place somewhere if you want to attach a rear view camera which I did.

Jan Rella Sorry I cant because they are specific to each system and they come from the manufacturer. So it won’t work with every unit. Plus I don’t want to post other people’s work online for free. You should ask the supplier.

I don’t know that looks pretty complicated on the radio deal but I do get if you follow the directions step-by-step that may be just a bridge too far for me the way I like all those conveniences
I installed one that doesn't need a new mic just a board and done. Isudar no external box needed.

First of all. Congratulation for your retrofit. I ´m considering to do on mine, but My doubt is....
My PCM 3.1 is having the "reboot issue".. it restart every 2 or 3 min while is trying to load the maps on the nav system.
Is the problem continue if I retrofit to CarPlay? (thank you again)

I did boight this retrofit. Because my unit was “crazy”. And I not a DIY kind of guy.. to gamble with that issue and solution.
I had my pcm all new unit replaced at a Porsche Centre Dealership. And bought more 2 year warranty.
Tired of the PCM disc error. The problem is on the disk.. there is workshops in UK (Unfortunatly not in Portugal) that change the disk to a ssd disk... and no more problems.
But I would like to have carplay on my 991.1 2015 GTS
