    Most homes in the UK don't have prewired doorbells,you can buy a ring plug in transformer which will power it! Another great review Erin!😉

      The jumper helps bypass your home chime , so it wouldn’t ring inside your home. Unless you buy the ring chime.

    Hi Erin, thank you so much for this video. Even though I have a plug in adaptor and not a hard wired doorbell, this was still very helpful. I thought that I had to take the actual back of the ring doorbell off, I had been struggling for months, now I know I don't need to do that, lol. So my doorbell has been sitting in the box for months for nothing, oh well. I'm in the UK, and the instructions are not very clear, and it shows removing the back. Ring need to update this. Thank you again❤❤

    No and no…… no existing doorbell, and my hangup is those tiny holes and tiny screws (the 2 tiny holes on the wired doorbell and the tiny holes on the only corner mount made for the ring wired ). Are the tiny holes at the top and bottom of the ring only for screws to attach the doorbell to the mount because the tiny provided screws will barely enter the mount. and the screws point towards the other screws going through the corner wired mount. I am also installing on that soft DutchLap siding. My main issue is the tiny holes and tiny screws

    Hi Erin, Thanks for the video. One question.. What's the purpose of the jumper wire making the old doorbell not work? Can't the Ring work on both? (Phone and the wall) I'm looking at this for my mom who's 84 and I'd like the old doorbell to work as well as the new Ring that apparently rings through the App?

    • @ErinLawrenceTV
      @ErinLawrenceTV  3 роки тому

      You could get the Ring Chime for her so there is also an audible tone. I havent' tried wiring it to see if pushing the Ring bell would make the old chime ring or if it's just not compatible...

      I had the old Ring video doorbell and got this model and installed it in my home for the motion detection features. It will not work with your existing in home mechanical chime. Spoke to Customer Service and they confirmed the same. That's a huge bummer. Not sure why they can't just make it work, seeing how their older versions support existing mechanical chimes

    • @quietmadness1768
      @quietmadness1768 3 роки тому +2

      Remove the jumper wire. That’s what disconnects your original chime by “jumping over” your original bell’s transformer.... They want you to buy *their* chime, but no need. It will power the original as long as the old bell’s transformer is still operational. If your old bell stopped working, it’s likely not the buttons but the transformer.
      Look up “install wired doorbell” and find dude showing the full wired setup for original bells. He has three parts in his cover pic here on UA-cam. HTH.

      @@ErinLawrenceTV Finally found the answer.
      Short answer multiple video doorbells can be independently connected to old chime to power and also support the ringing of the chime depending on the video doorbell.
      I had to get a wired doorbell to figure this out. It depends on how many doorbells your chime supports.
      Mine was manual chime and it came 2 independent circuit. One said front and other said rear.
      I have the front connected to a ring video doorbell 2 which can trickle charge hardwired and also rings the chime from my old bell.
      For the rear I installed the wired as it is cheaper and does not have hassle of battery charging. I bypassed the chime for rear doorbell and my front chime was unaffected.
