If you want to use the same texture on two different meshes in Maya, joined them together into the same object first, and then UV unwrap both meshesand then arrange them within the UV space of the texture you want. Then you can use the 3D paint the same way
Hi, Why we cannot use ai standard surface shader in substance painter for texturing? If not then it's possible to texture in Maya shader and then change into ai shaders?
Awesome work! was having some trouble getting this figured out
Glad it helped
if the cross does not show up after selecting paint tool, try generate-make parintable in modelling menu set
Great, thanks for sharing the tip with everyone 🖌️
Is it possible to paint in 3d space without any base surface? Kinda like in VR paint? Can Maya do this? Or any other software?
Tilt brush can do this www.tiltbrush.com/
would be nice to have symmetry and layers in this tool....
Yes it would, but then you would be working with substance painter
What if i want to combine two objects with a texture

I mainly use this tool to draw guide for retopo in maya. very handy.
Quad draw guides in Maya is a great use for this tool, thanks for sharing 👍
Is it possible to paint on the shadefx material?
I'm not sure, try it and let us know but you can paint on most things
great tutorial

That is a good question, will have to try switching shaders after painting a texture in Maya with 3D paint
Wonderful!
👍woot
muchas gracias : )

But the tool is UV based...on organic model it's impossible to paint unless you have UVs ready...Thank you anyway!
Yes but use this technique in this video to auto unwrap UVs even on organic objects before painting ua-cam.com/video/8-TMjuvzZEU/v-deo.html
