WAH 101: PART 2 - HOW I MODDED MY BEHRINGER HELLBABE HB01

- Heres my vid of the mods done to my HB01.
The Hellbabe is patterned after Dimebag Darrel's Crybaby from Hell minus the on/off toe button that I hate - I modded mine since the wah actually powers late and begins the sweep only mid part after you step on it so the wah doesnt swell much wasting the few millimeters off the pedal travel that could have been used to sweep. I took the liberty to show my mod since I had a hard time finding similar vids online when I first bought this pedal.
One thing I like abt the Hellbabe is it does NOT add color to my existing signal unlike other pedals where it either suck the bass or clip the high and fizzes the crunch, The Hellbabe doesn't add more drive, unless you use the boost. At 456 range It even bump up your bass from your heel down position so it gives off that longer and wider BBB'Waaah sound and not the usual short and quacky SSS'Hwehkk which I absolutely hate plus you can tailor how long it stays on after you lift your foot.
In a nutshell, the mod I did was:
1. Open the pedal and nudged each LEDS a few cents to match its own sensor as centered as possible so it powers up immediately and detect the sweep the soonest..
2. Remove the thick rubber stoppers at the pedal's toe that limited the pedal's travel and sanded the pedals toe a bit.
3.Then make the sweep, and power slots longer to compensate for the longer throw due to the removed toe stoppers, I lenghtened the sweep slot following the factory slope but at the very end of that slope, instead of keeping it square as stock - I used a screwdriver to poke the end round so it let the full circumference of the LED light to hit its sensor.
With that done, the pedal powers up and begins its sweep as soon as I step on it! Nice!!!😘😘

Dude this is brilliant! I pulled my HB from storage to try this mod as I have no guide like this 3 years ago. I did not remove the stoppers to retain the stock throw and did the nudging as your'e correct - my LEDS are off center! Then poked the end of the sweep slit round a bit and that made a world of difference as now my HB powers immediately as the light now peeks thru the power slot early and the sweep starts soon as well maxing out to a hellish b'waaah. The range on this is insane I could compare it to Petrucci's JP wah as it can do a lot of things. I understand why you hate the 123 as it is so quacky the swell is too fast its hard to modulate the notes compared to the slower 456. But I hope u do a followup on how you actually use the ranges on a musical context.

Sounds awesome. Can you explain a bit more how you measure how much to extend the slot when you remove the rubber nub
I just used a thin white pen to mark the CENTER position of the LED in the blocker's slit when the toe is fully depressed. In my case, as I poked the end of that slit with a screw driver to round it off - it actually lenghtened the slit as well hitting that mark I made.
