You should review Irrigreen, seems very interesting.
Designed so well, but they forgot how dumb people can be. Great review!
To be fair the instructions were pretty shit. Glad I found this video.
@@ing5088 Adjusting opposite of the nozzle seems pretty straightforward to me. Unless the instructions were written in Latin I'm not sure how that could be confusing.
Most bad reviews are from people that don’t read instructions.
Great design - even has 2 nozzles to catch the grass closer to the head like most sprinklers miss. I'm definitely buying one of these.
I bought one of these a couple of years ago (I did read the instructions before using!). It works pretty good at first but it had to be constantly readjusted and it did not water very well directly around the sprinkler itself. It broke after about a month of use and I returned it to the store. Most of the bad reviews I've read focus on the the bad build quality and the fact that it breaks easily. I exchanged it for a Gilmour Pattern Master and that works great.
Gilmour Pattern Master has been out for years and works great. It doesn’t change the water pressure but will conform to the area you want watered.
Yes, amzn.to/37fhr93 is a great sprinkler, but as you said no rotor or pressure change, still a nice unit too.
And the Gilmour, doesnt need a special key. I have two gilmours and make small adjustments much easier after the lawn mowers move them weekly
The last three Gilmore's I had would get stuck and just spray in One Direction, no more Gilmore's for me. My old Gilmore's from decades ago worked great until they just dry-rotted and the adjustment would no longer adjust because it cracked.
Are there any that can be buried?
Great review! I originally made the same mistake, because I didn’t read the directions. But soon realized that I need to make the adjustments on the opposite side of the spray. Now it works perfectly, and for the first time ever in the 5 years I’ve lived in this house, I now have full grass on the sunny side of my house. It takes six of these sprinklers to cover all of my lawn in the front and back. Better yet, I have them connected individually to a Melnor four-port programmable timer, and opted not to use the pass through, because I don’t have enough water pressure. So far I’m impressed, and I’ve had them in operation for nearly 3 months.
I picked one of these up, it was delivered today. Unfortunately my experience was not good. I had great expectations that this would allow me to care for a hard to reach area of my yard. I set the sprinkler up and was able to successfully adjust the distance of each stream with ease. If I were using the full 360 degrees rotation I never would have known I had a problem. However I was only planning to use a 180 degree arc; and therein lies the problem. The sprinkler blows right through the stops which are designed to be deployed when using anything less than the full 360 degree arc. The stops travel around with the head instead of staying in place and doing their job. Well, anyway I am going to keep it and use it in another location where I can use the full 360 degrees. Thank you! I enjoy all your video's!!
I've been thinking about a sprinkler system that adjusted based on your lawn! I've never come across this!
Gilmour made a pattern master that depending on the arc and shape of your yard you could set it to water farther in certain areas and shorter in others. So u could have a driveway that you could set it to water less in that area and more in others
Yea i need this. I have an irregularly shaped front yard and the fact it wont over shoot and then resume normal watering is awesome.
That’s exactly what I need. I was literally daydreaming about finding something like that. I’m starting to feel like you are solving a bunch of issues I have to attend too. Another great video
I have a "Rain King" Traveling sprinkler from the 50s I believe, that still works like a champ. Adjustable range and a winch line that drags the sprinkler with hose and shuts off the water at the end the line also releasing the "winch" line at the same time . You can also set it to leave the water on at the end. STILL working like a charm for our small yard! Yours may be cooler but lets see how it works in 50-60 years time.
No doubting you are right. The old stuff was truly built to last, sadly nearly all new things are on self ddestruct.
Great idea and I’m glad you made a video about it. I like the way the lower sprayer gets the middle of the upper stream area watered. Much more even watering that way.
Was just looking at this in Lowe’s yesterday
Anther video posted and another like. Great content as always. Thanks.
I appreciate that, Thank you!
Very interesting design. Will need to take a serious look at my lawn areas to determine whether or not I'll use it but I definitely respect the ingenuity.
Egads!!!! I can't THANK YOU ENOUGH for this review! I bought this sprinkler 2 YEARS AGO but refused to give up on it because I kinda figured I WAS THE PROBLEM 😂😂😂😂 Definitely subscribing to your CHANNEL!!🎉❤
I'm still using my home-made pvc sprinkler I made last yr lol...this thing works awesome! I went and dug up all the rain bird sprinkler heads in my yard. Previous owner didn't air out the system so I've inherited a variety of sprinklers👍 Thanks again man
how did you make the pvc sprinkler
I actually put in an Orbit below-ground system myself; and, I'm ordering one of these right now to test in a couple areas where I had to go with some overspray on standard circular sprayers.
Thanks for the content as always very helpful. I've got two Gilmore adjustable impact sprinklers and I think I'll get one of these to see the difference. Thanks again. 👍
Thank you for explaining this very useful device. It is confusing but it works really well and most lawns are not exactly square so it is a very good design.
I think that's pretty awesome 👌. Thanks for such a detailed explanation. 😊
Gilmore makes one that does the same thing, but executes the operation differently. I agree with you that some of the complaints are operator error, but it’s possible that some people received defective units. Several complaints were about the stops not working and making a full 360° rotation. ***Recommended Reviews***: Quick disconnects. Specifically Melnor plastic disconnects vs some other brands. Melnor’s yellow ones are intended for spigots/hose inlet while the grays are for hose outlet/Water device. I find the metal ones like what you use seize after some time. I did find some pretty cool ones on Amazon called, “Essential Washers”.
Also, please consider reviewing Melnor and Orbit timers. Several designs out there from single outlets, quad outlets, detachable timers and Bluetooth with programmable Apps.
Ive been using the Gilmour pattern master, its super adjustable too. I believe they were the first sprinkler thats truly adjustable, I could be wrong, but this one look great also ♥️
That's brilliant, can't believe how inexpensive it is for what it's capable of doing. Thanks for the video!!!
Thank you for clearing it up. It seems simple.
I had this problem today thanks for the great review
That is a great sprinkler!
I have a few of these for my lawn. The space is not symmetrical, and is longer than it is wide. They take a little tweaking, but definitely water more efficiently than anything else I've tried.
Also, I'd to give props to this channel. As someone from the same area, I've leaned allot about taking care of my grass more effectively. Your content has been extremely helpful. Thanks!
I don’t know why, but your voice is very entertaining to listen to.
I appreciate that, I am going to show my wife this comment, you just made my day, not sure she will agree!
Wow that's amazing, I like it very much. I think I will invest in one of these sprinklers. Great information thanks for sharing. #PEACE✌🏾
Your videos are the best. Incredibly informative!
I appreciate that!
Thanks for making a video that is simultaneously informative and concise. I do have one observation to make. You state that the sprinkler adjusts its own pressure, and we have to assume you mean that this changes the spraying distance. I don’t think that’s true, but I may be wrong. However, in several views, when you’re explaining that the spray distance is getting longer or shorter, I see that the angle of the spray/spray head is changing, and it looks like the pressure is staying the same. When the angle gets higher, the spray goes farther, and a low angle results in a shorter distance. That’s also how the Gilmour Pattern Master impulse sprinkler works.
This is cool for people that don’t have sprinklers 👍
Love your videos. Great editing.
Great review! thanks
Awesome video, this was so helpful!!!
Great idea! I like it!
🎯Good review. Thanks for doing that very helpful👍
Thanks for this interesting video. Orbit also has a tripod mounted H20-Six, gear drive sprinkler, which looks like a good match for a garden.
I was just telling my wife how much I’ve learned from your videos. Thank you!
So does it spray further or farther? We can never decide!
I got this, gonna be using it for my front yard watering.
This looks awesome
Great Sprinkler!
Here we go. Time to buy More stuff from silver cymbal
Purchased this sprinkler about a month ago became VERY frustrated with it because it's not clear on how to adjust the heads, but my Biggest issue with this sprinkler is the spikes, they have broken off and do not stick in the ground very well. I wish this thing was on a sled. Thank you for the clarification on adjusting the heads. Always appreciate your perspective.
Best sprinkler I ever bought
super super cool idea.
I believe that these were installed on the Death Star as a part of their newest orbital defense system.
I am SO glad you said that. I was originally going to use the Millenium Falcon in the video because I saw the same thing you did!
I'm sure that is where they got the idea
You're good dude, you're good. keep the videos coming.
It looks like a good idea , for my odd shaped lawn. If i get one, I would place it in a piece of plastic pipe, and maybe, use something to wedge it in.
I love that and I'm deffinetly buying one
I have a sprinkler that looks to be just adjustable as this one and far simpler to setup. It is a basic pulsing type that has a back flange that rides on a ring at the base. By pushing the ring up and down you adjust the distance the sprinkler sprays. Its hard to describe but even though it goes around, it can water a square or the yard shape as shown.
The Gilmour Pattern Sprinkler is much better and much easier to adjust than this one.
I had one of these years ago and loved it.
I have the pattern master as well and I love them. And cheap at 25 bucks.
Nice review!
I invented this in my head last year. Not really, of course, but the general concept was something I was hoping to find.
My concern...I have two sizable rectangular-shaped side yards with no obstructions. This sprinkler sprays, essentially, in adjustable circles. How can I get the corners of my yard watered? Do I need to buy multiple units? Or move the sprinkler around the yard multiple times (which defeats the programming feature offered.) Thoughts?
This probably has been asked but how do you get 360 degrees. I've moved the tabs but there's always a gap
Wow. I dont have a yard. And I want this. ^_^ty !🙏🙏🙏
I love your channel!
I've been wanting a sprinkler that does this function but in an underground pop-up form that is permanently installed to the yard's underground sprinkler system. That will probably be the next thing we see in the coming years I hope.
Check out irrigreen.
the sprinkler is perfect, the problem is the people who don't understand basic instructions
This is exactly what I need, but sadly it’s really hard to find now. Found a few websites selling it for about $50 that I’ve never heard of before
Nice review SC👍
Thanks 👍
I saw a different version of this a few years ago. I dont remember the brand but it was the same concept different design. I was seriously considering buying a couple of them. $70 each was a bit much though
Very similar concept to the Gilmour pattern master, once that one goes I'd try this
Do need a pressure vacuum breaker for this use?
Now what would be cool is an in ground system with this type of head. That way it’s in the same spot always and you make those adjustments once and you’re done. Turn it on and go.
Can you provide a link for those quick disconnects and water shut off on the hose?
A little over a complicated for my needs but I’m sure it works great for others.
Seems the 2nd con that you pointed out that I noticed during the first half of the video... is the dealbreaker... along with the price tag as most lawn watering gadgets are around 5 bucks. If you dont put it exactly in the same place each time, you'll have to fiddle with it for up to an hour each time you water your lawn, which is twice to three times a week. Not to mention if you move it from your backyard to your front yard, it'll have to be readjusted once again. You can counteract this by buying multiple, but then again it comes down to the high price tag. A normal fan sprinkler and a classic slap sprinkler is just more convienent, fast and simple to use, not to mention a fraction of the price. If I didnt install an automated sprinkler system for my yard, I'd consider this, but I'd mark specific spots in my yard for exact placements every time, with a flag or an adornment.
I wonder why they made the base plate so large?! I mean I can see this sprinkler needing more stability so guessing that’s why but wouldn’t it kill the grass underneath it versus a sprinkler on a yard stake?
Either way I’m definitely gonna try this!
Have you heard of the 'Irrigreen' digital sprinkler system? It's a similar concept to this except it's automated. Would love to know your thoughts on it.
Check out irrigreen. They have I'm ground sprinklers on timers that do the same thing. I have a client who has one. Bit you program it for you phone. Sorta a pain tho because each head had 500 differnet adjustments lol
Nice video
Great video. Where did you get the brass shut off valve that is at the end of your hose? I’ve bought a few locally but non of them seem to be as robust as that one.
It's not cheap, but its definitely the best: amzn.to/2V9QEYM
@@SilverCymbal I live by the buy once cry once motto. I’ll take the quality for the cost. I also like the lever size and material on that one. My current valves have small plastic levers and I’m not a fan. Thanks for the reply!
I have the same connector on my electric pressure washer. The fittings can be bought at Lowe's.
I've been a subscriber for a very long time...still not sure if it's because of the great info or the ASMR quality of your presentation...lol
I appreciate that, wow very nice of you
Does it drip enough to water right where it’s placed?
I gave mine a negative review. After I moved it a few times from front to back yards then back again, the part with the adjustment knobs would rotate along with the spray head. The should stay in place. If they don’t it will not adjust the spray. The adjustment changes the angle the water sprays not the pressure. For mine I had to use zip-ties to wrap around the adjustment knobs down to the base to keep them from rotating with the spray head. If they used natal or aluminum gears vs plastic it would be better. If they did, I’d buy another one, or two.
I was wonder how such a sprinkler could be designed. I have an irrigation system in our yard. But on the road side, I have to spray water out into the road to get the coverage I need in the yard as it circles. Each sprinkler is a 50 foot spray pattern to reach from head to head. Since we can't install semi-circle sprinklers at the road (it is not part of our yard but the county's) we have to install the pop ups sprinklers 20 feet off the road side. So this would be great in a pop up design...
Wonder if this could be connected to like a aerated septic system?
You could read the Directions first.
They are as confusing as doing it. Even the company video they released never even showed it in use, which kind of scares me
Does it fly by the shorter-range areas faster so they don't get soaked? The Gilmour Pattern-Master is an impact sprinkler with a higher rotation speed in the shorter-range areas. If the rotation speed on this product remains constant, you'll be saturating the areas close to the sprinkler that appear to run at high pressure.
Cool deal
I was looking at these at home depot this past weekend but changed my my about buying it at the last second
I’m considering buying this, but I too, have read many bad reviews. How’s your experience been over time? Still recommend it?
Tony
I bought this sprinkler and it didn't perform as advertised. I played with it and tried to get it to work, but it never even got close to what the box claimed. I ended up returning it about 10 minutes after I opened the box and tried it. I got one of the fan style sprinklers that you can adjust the angles on.
The problem I find with the gear driven Orbit sprinklers isn’t setting them up… it’s how long they last. I’m tired of buying them & installing and then a year later they stop working right.
Interesting, I have never used them on an installed system. I used to have Hunter PGPs which I think are great but then I switched to I-20 hunters and like those too.
The thing that may be doing them in is your water pressure. I have 65 psi or so, and use their drip system, with a regulator. I donot know the max pressure on the product. Home Depot has the inline regulators, so, if you have one left, you might try one. They have easy returns, if it is not good for it.
The place that delivers your water to you can tell you what you have. You need volumne .
@@SilverCymbal I like the look of the HUNTER Sprinkler I2004SS I-20 Stainless Steel Gear Driven. Anyone have experience withe the longevity of those? Expensive, but over time the cheapest option isn’t always better.
@@alienpoker I have been using those to replace the regular I20s I have when they fail. They are 20 years old and starting to fail. They look nice but the internals are the same as the regular i20 but the outside holds up better with the stainless
Do they make one for in ground sprinkler systems?
@HomesliceDrummer Thanks
solutionism at it's finest!
If the head unscrews from the spike base I could see mounting this on a PVC home built sled. I see the spikes being toast the first time I try and set the unit in my South Carolina clay. Heck, I've bent over the aluminum spikes on one I have now trying to get them in the ground...
Does this need additional pressure machine?
My yard only gets sprinkled when it hasn't rained in awhile. I have a spinner type I move around. There's garden hose zip-tied to the bottom of a trojan fence. At each corner there's a Y connector. I can use a 25 ft hose and reach most of the yard. For added distance, I sit my sprinkler on top of a 5 gallon bucket. 🐀🐾
Any idea on the furthest distance it can throw water ?
Do you have a review for the beta cart
I like the lower spray, beneath the long spray. Impulse sprinklers just don't do a great job evenly watering that distance between the sprinkler and where the main arc ends.
Negative reviews are most likely from cradle to grave boob toober types UNDER the age of 65......... Except for you (under 65) and people like me (over 65) , who take the time to actually read, experiment and have an attention span greater than two minutes.... Good for you...
It would be cool if they made underground gear heads configurable like this
I believe the negative reviews are from people that do not know how to read instructions.
Lol This video took my work and watering the lawn
