I am a retired Civil Engineer in UK. My jaw drop to the bottom of the mountain when I see just a glims of the infrastructures for this tourist attraction: the cable cars, the hanging walkways by the side of deep cliffs and canyons, the multi level escalators through the mountain. One wonders how they build all these in such a remote and hostile environment. I suppose if China can build the tens of thousands of km of high speed rail and motorways throughout the country, this is chicken feed.

Even greater efforts made to build the necessary infrastructure to bring nature available and closer to people around the World to appreciate and marvel is yet another!
The contrast between China and the 'Leader of The Free World', US, could not be more stark the past week and beyond. While China is working around the clock to make advancement in all fronts, US is ever more divided and exhaust its energy on Trump's verdict saga... If the same in US prevails, (most of) the rest of the world will soon pass US by, while US fizzles into oblivion... LOL!!!

wow some of those shots are amazing. my legs were shaking every time you brought the camera over the railings lol. good job on planning the trip too, saved libby a few thousand unnecessary steps 😂. I'm no chinese ethnic minority expert, but I think those people in the traditional outfits are miao minority, common for the area. there's the han majority, then 55 minorities. yunnan province has the most and it has more a se asia feel if you ever get a chance to travel around there.

I dislike it when some travelers focus mostly on the locals not speaking their language or constantly mention their own lack of knowledge of the local language.

The plank road is so high up in the sky. Your downhill route gave me a more relaxing feeling than the uphill one.
Subscribed and followed your channel for inspiration before we went to china. Then over the end of May and beginning of June, we visited Beijing, Xian, Zhangjiajie, Guilin and Shanghai. Sadly it was bad weather when we visited Tianmen Mountain - it was foggy and a 'white out'. Nice to see your video about what we missed! However the stormy cloud pics we took were dramatic like the Chinese Pictures of old, so the trip wasn't wasted.

I went to Jhangjiajie some 50 years ago when there was no cable cars, or more precisely to say, no highway to there. At that time, even the road signs were written with poor English. The only food available was eggs and tomato. But it was a very very interesting experience to climb up the mountains on foot. You could see a miles of people climbing up and down. The views are gorgeous. My girl friend and I hired a local "guide" to lead us touring around Zhangjiajie and it was fun to ride a horse along the Jinsha River. The trip was unbelievably fun and memorable. It was a sorry that we didn't go to Tianmen Mountain.

I visited Tianmen Mountain in 2010. There are 999 steps to climb up to the top of the mountain and I used 30 minutes to do it. Of course I took 2 to 3 times break in between climbing. 😂😂😂

I visited Zhangjiajie in 2010 while our flight was suddenly cancelled due to the valcano ash clouds .

Tianmen shan is an incredible topographic feature to behold. Some French dude climbed up under the rock arch bare handed in summer. My hands gat sweaty just reading the information plaque.

Love your video!! We were there in September, 2018 and we took the east walkway. Now we get to follow you guys to the west walkway. That is super-cool to have that suspension bridge. On the day we were there, they had some wingsuit jumpers jumping off a cliff on the east side. Cheers from San Diego, CA.
