"Whoever still riding to this is a real one" - Me 2018 2020 ain't it but at least I know that we still some of the realest hip hop fans

2 MCs killing it.
Hook is unreal.
Beat is crazy.
Good positive vibe... talent
Erick Sermon from EPMD produced this. I didn't know that
@@streetfrogg actually it's produced by rockwilder...
Rockwilder was co producer
I’m in my early forties and this song will always be in my top 10 greatest hip hop songs of all time. ALL TIME!!! Younger folks just don’t understand how HUGE this song was when it graced the airwaves. East coast verbal voracity with West Coast swag and style. This song was and still is an absolute gem. Impeccably well written in every aspect. Pure hip hop alchemy.
I JUST realized for the first time some of the west coast heavyweight lyricists of that era made cameo appearances in this video. (Ras Kass, Saafir) This track can almost bring a tear to my eye because at the time it almost seemed like the alternative/underground scene was going to be able to go heads up against the mainstream rap of the day and overtake it in terms of popularity. It didn’t but still, what a time it was to be alive.....
@@dawb86 I feel you 1000 percent. This song here should be considered hip hop royalty. Untouchable. I get a lil emotional too when I soak in the weight of this masterpiece. If I could only go back in time to relive it when it was still fresh and bask in the atmosphere this song created and watch everyone else in the know do the same. 👌
Already early century was insane rest in love Nate
In my late forties and I agree!
Ohh we know old timer
The production, the lyrics, the composition of this song is hugely underrrated. It’s definitely a classic for me.
Don't forget that damn hook. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Not underrated amongst those in the knows
@@cornybeef Yep
The most compleye rap song ever made imo!
@@cornybeef right. Always been a banger
Pharoahe Monch killed it on this cut. R.I.P. Nate Dogg.
I consider Pharoahe Monch's rhymes in this my #1 all time favorite verse! For passion, flow, and all around mic dominance!
ISLAMATRON "Releasing Hypnotical Gases" and "Prisoners Of War" "Queens" "Hitman" Yeah Pharoahe Has A Mass Quantity of Quality Verses....

I met Mos Def couple of times in Copenhagen by coincidence....he is really down to earth and a big artist...
We will never have new music like this again. Rest in peace Nate Dogg.
Despite the east vs. west drama that went on back in the day, whenever New York and California collaborate, the result is always beautiful.
most people don’t understand any of it in general it’s crazy. There are so many fucking songs from east coast and west coast rappers/producers/styles. it was an insanely perfect era of music. So dope that there were two basic kinds of hip-hop and both were godly
Da South got somethin to say
pittsburghpirate58 excellent point pittsburgh! the south style, era always gets swept under the carpet for some resson
@@matt-vv9rj naw bro. I'm an old skool head. From the original South Bronx streets where it all began. I'm talking 1973. Just to put it context. In NYC we have mad love for Southern rap. Just be able to spit.
Unfortunately, a lot of it is "Cookie Cutter" music. Meaning, we found a formula that works so let's mass produce it. ORIGINALS in the game get love regardless of where you are from.
My 2 cents
One
🙏🏿
@@matt-vv9rj also that entire generation of people that grew up during that East vs West era grew up on music only from their sides. Lots of older people still finding new music from the 90's they never heard because it was from the other coast. Pretty cool
Goddamn it, I miss Nate Dogg.
Yeah his death was definitely unexpecting and sad, he could make a ton of hits with his hooks.

Wish he was still around. RIP
Masscreation1618 Touche. I bet he would still be more relevant today than Dr Dre is as far as music goes.

Couldn't even wait for the hook to finish to go all the way in!
ALEX HUNDA God Mode Activated ‼️
Nate Dogg was cold on the hooks.
His VOICE WAS EVERYTHANG💕💕 RIP
Even in 2021 this song is sick.....and not a mumble in sight..... Original hip-hop yet again stands the test of time
This is just a perfect mix: Def's smooth flow, Monch's mania and Nate's hooks
Perfect blend
I miss this kind of Rap....where has the talent gone
I ask the same question
+Jesse Jackson Most of the rappers are still alive. Apparently they weren't talented extensively and ran out of material.
+Jesse Jackson most them dont want to be in the gay mafia thats running actual rap scene just read this song lyrics first mos def verse ;)
Most of the good new rap is from underground artists. Don't know exactly when the game flipped from having lots of great lyricists in the mainstream scene to what it is now. The old artists are still making music, it's just not given the same attention as the new shit because it's exactly not that. Record labels are giving preference to the crap artists that make ringtone raps and club bangers because that's what the rest of the dumb millenials like. There are some of us though that still hold it down for the real talent though, you just have to look for it. Go check out A-F-R-O. He's an upcoming artist with an old school style that's about to blow up! Can't wait for his album to drop. Just look up "Code 289."
the talent all went into memes on facebook... born in wrong time, dark times where thinking is lame and being stupid and mean as fuck is worth an Oscar, a Nobel price and the main seat in the white house.
Mos's verse was dope to I don't know why no one's showing love to Mos the Great
Word. STILL remains one of the most Underrated MC's Ever. Crazy.
@@blktank083 he aint underrated
@@damnson5079 great rapper, also very talented actor. Loved him on Chappelle as well.
Because Monch oblitorated him in that verse. That was 2Pac quality right there!

Pharaoh one of the best freestyle i ve never heard in rap music
Monch lyrical assasin!
Jerry Howard FACTS!!
He is no joke on the microphone like Rakim
@@shanettacane7101 He's better than Rakim.
Two way threat!!! Both of em!!! Top 5 most lethal callabo's ever!!!
@@blackworldonline hm, from a technical perspective perhaps but pharaohe has the advantage of having all those great artists that he could learn from that came before him during the golden era, while rakim was one of the first ones to put lyrical rappers on the map like that. Overall body of work and cultural impact he's not touching rakim
Still gives me goose bumps listening to Monch's verse here and I have heard it 200x.

+Anthony La Manna Stop listening to the crap on the radio and dig around, We're on the internet. Hell we're on UA-cam. Plenty of quality hip hop still being produced. I've been heavily pumping Dres & Jarobi's Evitan album from 2013.

utterly insane, it reminds me some eminem highlight verses...monch is dropping a rhyme each word !
Pharoah Monch has one of the best styles hands down! His verse here, is simply incredible! In conjunction with Mos & Nate, the trio is lethal! Dope track. Period.
"Very contagious raps should be trapped in cages
Through stages of wackness, Pharoahe's raps are blazin
And it amazes - me how you claim thug
