Edit: So I uploaded this in 2012 and it got instantly blocked worldwide.
It seems in 2020 that the copyright holders have decided to unblock it and monetize it, so enjoy!
Mos Def has the ability to sound like he's rapping in the studio no matter where he is.
Nigga, it was pre-recorded. Mos probably recorded that in a studio. Look at the transition at 1:13 (the direction the car was moving in) and you'd see.
@@taslimoseni2231 imagine thinking this is the only time mos def ever rapped live. Even when he was rapping those MF DOOM songs being recorded by that cheap camcorder he still sounded professionally recorded. Hell, his other Chappelle performance was recorded in an empty bar and it still sounded good.
Mos Def's flow is OP
@@billbill6094 I'm not disputing that his live rap is fire. I'm only saying that this wasn't a live rap.
It was a karaoke, but he actually has some flow, he's good at singing songs
"I'm most definite, not think so."
I can keep coming back for that line alone.
I’m MOS DEF’ in it.? I’m not think so..
"They all talk fast, and they all think slow."
What? That's straight fire.

This is one of the banginest in the Mos Def catalog... This was a magic time in Hip Hop that lead to the truest expression of love and unity in musical form - Dave Chappelle's Block Party
Dave is tryin to act cool but he is witnessing greatness, live.
He in the background
Sup cube
He’s trying to be funny
@@multipurposebs444 he ain't trying shit. His jamming with his bredwin. Little did Mos know he was in the company of the GOAT
Facts
Dave Chappelle had the realest musical guests. This whole show was epic.
It’s how I first got turned on to Kanye West
That’s how I got started with Dead Prez
FarmClub was better. So many great guest
Ya tha fact he got de la soul too on there is dope asf ... n that's bcuz mos def is a big fan of de la too #RIPtrugoy :( 💔🙏❤️🕊
I feel like they made him compromise on his second season guests, who were still good but more commercially exposed. First season was mostly underrated or rather, under exposed artists. Or perhaps he genuinely enjoyed who he brought on both seasons, but my initial thought is just a hunch.
You know the most interesting thing about Mos Def? As great as he is rapping, he's just as great acting. This dude is immensely talented.
He is definately under-rated for acting and rapping. He did a great job in the movie "13 Blocks" with Bruce Willis.
True! I saw him live in a stage play and he was brilliant
My correction the movie was called "16 Blocks" not 13 Blocks
Damn I was going to say 12 blocks but 16 is the right answer
He was a actor first but his bones are made from being a super MC
“I’m a catalog, you’re the same song”
20 years later and most of mumble rappers still didn't change
love that line
@@Jakommo
Rap music has morphed..
If people still rapped like Mos Def I wouldn’t listen to their played out flow.

This was a preview of “Close Edge” on The New Danger album out in 2004.
Thank you... Only listened to Black on Both sides and evidently that's a mistake.
Thanks bro!
This man is the most underrated rap artist of all time. Started off as an actor, he’s a great musician and can rap just as well also an artist., The list goes on.

In the PENTHOUSE of my mind. I remember this (and play it over the years). More clearly than conversations with some people I know

And that's why hes the Mos Def.

This was the very first hip hop song I’ve ever heard. This episode is pivotal to my growth. Wouldn’t think the way I do if it wasn’t for Dave Chappelle and mos def.
That's a huge statement! If this was your introduction to hip hop... Your introduction was special
Well buddy welcome to the fray. if you started off your hip hop journey with a mos Def song for me possibly the best most death song and there's some great ones a lot of them but man the swagger the bravado the New yorkness of it the straight hip hop.
a dude with honestly a dude voice and a dude approach Man you got a great start dig most def. find talib qweli. check out common, even early Kanye. keep rolling man You started with the best bro. lucky you
Mos Def was one of the nicest rappers I've seen live. Was dope af. Got a drum set out on Quiet Dog Bite hard, played and rapped at same time. Fantastic
I still remember seeing this and Black Star's performance when the show was new. Mos is definitely one of the greatest of all time up there with Rakim and some others.
1:52 Dave almost got hit by a cab.
yep, he was pissed too
Looks high
Nope got hit by a bar

It’s just two dudes in a car but this is one of my favorite performances.

“Tell a wildcard boy not to get off they horse, before they find out the town law is strictly enforced.” 🔥
“Tell a wild cowboy”
Thats some DOOM type bars right there. The inspiration hits deep. This man was too underrated
Mighty most created so many creative ways to say F around and find out what's going to happen to you I mean another
Another one people pick is I'm like the second plane to hit the towers to let you know it's not a game it's exactly the affect that it had the first one you're like a mistake the second one you like oh my God something is really going on what an incredibly creative way to express that thought sad for the people in 911 but it definitely makes

Ford Prefect

His acting in that movie was better than Ford's character in the books.
Still 🔥in 2022, STRAIGHT 🔥🔥🔥!
When he was backing up and flowing that was mad dope
The first time I heard Mos Def was “Travellin’ Man” on The Beat while driving to school back in 1998. I called the radio station to get the name of the song then drove around to every Sam Goody, Tower Records, and Wherehouse until I found it. I wouldn’t say Mos Def is the greatest MC, but he’s my favorite. His melodic flow coupled with sophisticated lyricism is elite.
That must have been some work because it's a DJ Honda featuring Mos Def song. One of the best joints but he has so many classics. The guy is so timeless and so hip hop.
I love that one, the solo song he has on sound bombing 2 believe it's called Next Universe.
Top 5 of all time, no question about it
Mos...... that smile 😅💚
"I'm like the second plane that took that towers face off; the shit that let you know this wasn't no game dawg"
