Nearly 20 years to the day this was released and I'm still listening with the excitement I had as a 17 year old when I heard it for the first time.
I remember the first time hearing it. It was probably 20 years for me as well. 40 now. It was like nothing I heard before.
Same here
Evergreen!
Amen, same big up all the 37 yo’s lol
💯
Timeless hip hop music right here. 🙌
Alchemist really killed this beat. Like this has to be one of the BEST hip hop productions ever. The lyrics the sample, the scratching the cuts everything just perfect. The song is real special classic shit!!! I’d play this on the bus with my headphones on going to school.
The scratching, that's Babu
Alchemist still makes beats today..
Definitely one of the best hip hop beats of all time.

Classic. Man I miss the 90's and Early 2000's.
You don't say. Rap as we knew, pretty much died.
It's about Trap beats, auto-tune, repetitive chorus/vocals, Twerking, skinny jeans, leggings, money, and "Swag". Lyricism, respect, skill, etc. all of that don't mean nothin no more
N1ewidomy mourn it every day youtube ease the pain it is looking at photos of cherished ex girlfriend that passed before you could tell her the deep impact she made and knowledge she gave you. gone but never forgotten.
This tracks lived rent free in my head for over 20 years, man 2000s was something special just everyones mentalitys and the way society was everything felt more connected

Truth. But The Platform is still one of their best albums. Saw a show when the Platform and 3rd Eye Vision had been somewhat freshly released. 1999 or 2000.

If all you had was the instrumental of this track, you could vibe forever and never get tired of it. But the dope lyrics laid on top make it that much more magical. Feels as real now as when I first heard it.

Security Guard at 0:47 died during 9/11. It was filmed on Sept 7th 2001, they took him as an extra while he was on his lunch break & exchanged phone numbers to let him know when the editing will be done. Once 9/11 happened, they never heard from him again :(
