Absolutely correct. This song is special. It was recorded at a house called Headley Grange using the Rolling Stones Mobile Studio. As the story goes, when our favorite boys played the recording back for the first time they were so amazed and happy with the song that John, John Paul, Jimmy, and Robert went outside and started to dance to it while it was blasting from the studio truck. It was a momentous occasion in Led Zeppelin history! Dancing Days has a snake charmer riff that is a descendent from Middle Eastern music. That type of riff was expanded and stretched even further on the next album, Physical Graffiti, with the epic masterpiece song Kashmir. There is only one song that I can think of that has a similar riff structure to Dancing Days. It is a more contemporary song that was made about 20 years after Dancing Days and it is called Trippin' On A Hole In A Paper Heart by Stone Temple Pilots. A very similar sounding guitar riff will kick in just before the refrain. That's the only other song that I can think of +jaybone23 !
The whole album is like that, esp. when it came out..it changed everything starting with side 1,Track1 & tsrts. There was nothing like Houses of the Holy going on..Bad Co? Who? Stones ? Yes? Montrose? Purple ?...there was nothing.
But recently I realized just how much I missed them and, well, I'm back to listening to them ad nauseum again. They've just...GOT IT. THERE IS NO ONE BETTER. They took a genre of music, claimed it as their own, and perfected it! YOU CANNOT IMPROVE UPON PERFECTION. So if I'm an old fuddy-duddy who can't get past her musical youth, then so be it. I'd rather be that than someone who settles for mediocrity in the form of most of what passes for rock music today. Peace.
ohhhhh I LOVE IT!!! I worship this song. Even though i was born no where near the time of this song, its like...my all-time favorite. Me and dad will play this guitar and we'll scream the part, "I GUESS ITS ALL IN MY HEARRRRT!" favorite band everrrrr.
Robert NAILED the Relationship within the band in those days, in so many words he said it was as if they could finish one another's thoughts ESPECIALLY when on Stage. If one tripped the others would ALREADY be there to catch him and continue without missing s beat! Such a bond could NEVER be duplicated and why it was UNFATHOMABLE to continue after Bonzo's Death. .
I've seen a multitude of idiots say that Zeppelin sucks live...because ( I believe ) they sound so profoundly different than their studio work. It IS different but unbelievably awesome in its own way. So GOOD!!!!!!!
lokezep this is the first time I've said anything on UA-cam got diagnosed with an illness is going to kill me so sitting home listening to some Zeppelin and I know you saying that Led Zeppelin whoever said that Led Zeppelin sucked wasn't good in concert in my God I had tickets to go and I got in a fight with a girl and they got ripped up and I never got to go that's from Boston Gardens got ripped apart maybe that was in the seventies Aerosmith to Aerosmith scorpions Boston Massachusetts get back to me if you want I'm super Marlborough Massachusetts going to bed illness can't work hanging out like to talk to all his who's so fancy yeah what I want to hear is that Ted Nugent Stranglehold

Great quality, thanks. Can hear the bass clearly. Wonder which Oxford venue they were playing - what we called The Apollo or somewhere smaller? They played Southampton University Refectory on this tour, after all! Typical Zeppelin comments - either "The. Best. Band. Ever." or "They were crap live and ripped off Bluesmen." The truth is of course somewhere in between. I love Zeppelin, but no more than Purple, Mott, Lizzy, UFO, all bands we're expected to regard as inferior. Well, we don't. Zep were brilliant, and other bands don't have to be put down to express that. Houses of the Holy is a really INTERESTING album. It set the scene for In Through the Out Door, I believe.
I had FOUR tickets to see them in New Orleans at the Superdome whenever Robert Plant's son passed away after the Oakland concert. (Two tickets for me, and I bought two more for my brother and sister-in-law.) New Orleans, Chicago, and Pittsburgh were the remaining three cities of the tour. Of course, the tour was cancelled, and they never played in the U.S. again. Then, Bonham passed away. I felt bad for the Plant and Bonham families, and I was really bummed that I never did get to see them.
We had tickets for the Pittsburgh show in 1977. Sadly Plant's son died. Then had plans all made for the Cincinnati show in 1980. And sadly Bonzo died. Never did see Zep live. But saw Page & Plant together four times. Saw Page with The Firm. Saw Plant several times with various musicians. Including two months ago in May. But will always miss not being able to see Zep.
Im always amaze as to how much Stone Temple Pilots sounds like this song (at least the album version). It was only fitting that they covered it on the tribute album. One of my favorites.
When the Gods of Rock hit the stage, there was not much need of editing, overdubbing and "have another try, please". Here it is: rough, sheer energy, made in Britain. Let today's kids have their plastic idols from so-called "talent shows" and PlayStation branded guitar heroes... We've got THE BEST!
@LedLass I get where you're coming from. I too was mad about the Zep in my youth back in the early 70s and I too ditched them for years. Perhaps I thought they were old fashioned or something. Anyway call it a mid-life crisis thing if you will but I have rediscovered them and there is absolutely no comparison. They are, and always will be, the Gods of Rock.
@metalloversrejoice Who says we haven't learned to appreciate all types of music? Hell I studied voice for four years and discovered a talent for singing opera. I love alternative, and grunge, and old R&B, and even some rap, punk, and New Wave. I shelved Zeppelin for, oh, almost 20 years because I had listened to them ad nauseum back in the day.
I remember the smell of the smell of the actual album(s) Led Zeppelin 4; Aerosmith Rocks; Ted Nugent's first album, Pat Travers Go For What You Know, Blue Oyster Cult - On Your Feet Or On Your Knees, Kiss Alive (1), Rick Derringer - All American Boy, Queen's Sheer Heart Attack/Night At The Opera/Day At The Races, Zeppelin - Presense, Alice Cooper - Billion Dollar Babies, The Who Sell Out/Live At Leeds/Odds 'n' Sods... And I remember the whole vibe of the mid' to late 1970s...It was freedom...
I am so happy that I was a teen in the 70's in lieu of now with all of that high school cheerleader hip hop, Jonas Bros., Panic at the Disco, Soulja Boy and the rest of today's watered down McMusic with no soul and depth. Instead, we had the rock pioneers who did it right. 70's rock music set the standard that has yet to be matched.
Foo fighters, red hot chili peppers, the black keys, Jack White/ white stripes, Incubus, cage the elephant, etc. There are more than that too. It's just a bit harder to find
Ah come on , i always say that Led Zeppelin are Definetley the greatest , But Let there be also other Music and Deep Purple`s "Made in Japan" is also Brilliant Live Recording ! Its a Cult Record and the athmosphere is Awesome + Richie Blackmore is not Page but hes damm Brilliant too !
@LedLass " shelved Zeppelin for, oh, almost 20 years because I had listened to them ad nauseum back in the day." Please change your login then. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
+brad gilker You are right. As far as mixes go the vocals completely dominate. Of course you can hear everything else, but it's far from an adequate mix.
What does mean "suppin boze"? Crazy ways are evident In the way that youre wearing your clothes Suppin boze is precedent As the evening starts to glow. Thanks to all
Interesting. I always assumed that Page played both the chord riff and the pull offs in open G live but this sounds like he is just doing the pull offs and leaving the main riff to Jonesy.
@cesaresusa i kinda wish they would put zep on guitar hero so people could hear them again. or better yet a commercial of a zep song and not even advertising anything :)
PS Just realized what Robert may have meant by seeing "A lion standing there with a tadpole in a jar". He himself was a leonine-looking guy, and was looking back to his own adolescence. To take the analogy further - and this might be way off the truth - but tadpoles are used as a parallel for human sperm, which young men are sometimes encouraged to, er, distribute.
How did I not mention - that I got Made In Japan in third-grade for behaving myself n the dentist's chair. I freaked on The Mule when Ian dd that super-fast bass drum roll with a single pedal. I listened to that album for 2-3 months straight everyday after school - trying to learn Blackmore's parts. Wait a minute... I did clean this up! Two months ago I posted; "Shoot I forgot Deep Purple - Made In Japan!@#$%^&." So there! :)
@artardful I think that's a good point. I don't look at it as a generational thing, but these corporate creeps seem to be DELIBERATELY dumbing down everything...especially music. I don't think it's an accident - I don't totally understand it, but I have some suspicions - and I have no doubt there are a lot of brilliant talented young musicians who are languishing unknown because of this. There really needs to be a demand, along the lines of an uprising, for QUALITY MUSIC.
I love to get high to this and No Quarter. This whole album though, is really great for smoking. (Here comes the you-don't-need-weed-to-enjoy-Zeppelin comments).
hey lovelesschris sorry to hear about you being loveless, you must be living in toronto too, its "tadpole in a jar" a weak little tadpole is safe in a jar, a big strong lion could easily kill it but is to dumb to figure out how to get at it,the little guy in the jar is safe.
@bluetape13 hahahaha!!! I wanna play! I wanna play! Um, he should be strapped down and forced to listen to "Oops I did it again" about a gazillion times. Yeah, that oughta do it lol
Interesting. Didn't realize that. It sounds a lot like he's using a tremolo bar from the way he's whammying the overdubbed parts here. Just another Jimmy Page gear mystery, I guess.

This song is unique. I can't think of another song with similar elements. The main guitar riff was like nothing heard before. A true genius song.
purple haze and this have a few similarities
check out 'between days' by red house painters. definitely inspired by this one i'd say.

The masters of their craft.!!! I love this album. Good memories.
With so much variety in their music, there's bound to be at least one Led Zeppelin song that anyone would like!
a song rarely played live.
Dancing days my favorite song.
But recently I realized just how much I missed them and, well, I'm back to listening to them ad nauseum again. They've just...GOT IT. THERE IS NO ONE BETTER. I love them live.! This is a GREAT AWESOME DAncing Days!
LED Zeppelin pauleira eterna 🇧🇷🔥🤘🏽🎤🎹🎸🥁☮️👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
In Love with Led Zeppelin, My Dream is to see them Live at least Once, I will die happy!
JPJ lays down some funky bass lines. Most folks don't notice his contributions. Always slightly behind the beat, but never off.
the song's got an odd feel to it, like it stumbles into the start of each measure
@@_Singularity_ And with musicians like these, you know it's a feature and not a bug.
I love this weird recording! Rock, its not ment to be perfect, its ment to be good. 🤘😁🤘
Wish this performance was in the Song Remains The Same film. 🎸😎🔥
And its not on the Zeppelin DVD. So all we have are these horrible sounding bootlegs. Zep playing in a tin can..lol
Awesome performance!!
a melhor banda de rock de todos os tempos
i never new they did this live
Great sound for the day..it only needs video-;
Great quality, thanks. Can hear the bass clearly. Wonder which Oxford venue they were playing - what we called The Apollo or somewhere smaller? They played Southampton University Refectory on this tour, after all!

Led Zeppelin is Rock God

January 7...
In 2 days it would become Jimmy's birthday from this concert...
I'm sure there was a lot of Sipping Booze and Drinking Beer at his party!

We've got THE BEST!
Great rendtion,1973 was a great year for they !
@LedLass I get where you're coming from. I too was mad about the Zep in my youth back in the early 70s and I too ditched them for years. Perhaps I thought they were old fashioned or something. I Love the way that Zeppelin look heavier live

There is only one good song on All American Boy but I listen to Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo regularily.
Yeah...ohh that smell.
I am so happy that I was a teen in the 70's in lieu of now with all of that high school cheerleader hip hop, Jonas Bros., Panic at the Disco, Soulja Boy and the rest of today's watered down McMusic with no soul and depth. John I was a kid when all that bulls hit was out, if you think that was bad don’t even go on UA-cam now a days brother lmfao!!
Josh Gibson josh I can confirm as a recent Highschool graduate that the music is in fact, gãrbægę
Foo fighters, red hot chili peppers, the black keys, Jack White/ white stripes, Incubus, cage the elephant, etc. There are more than that too. It's just a bit harder to find
if you look up cool in the dictionary it says led zeppelin!
Yup
😉😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
❤️ SO late to the party- but 42 years old & JUST started truly listening to Led Zeppelin- OMG just cannot get enough!
Yeah that’s accurate
bonham is bonkers here.
+ChuckBrooklyn He was always bonkers!
@johnex3303; Sure glad I spent $5.50 for a ticket to see these guys, great show.

@LedLass

They played it live during 1972 and the early part of 1973, but never after that.
The only thing wrong with this song is it's too short. :)
you take it all delvy
@MrJowilson9
I'm glad to hear that ;)
1:37 "mommer"
@Corbon440 Damn the guitar riff sounds like the chorus to Humpin Around. Your right. Quite strange indeed.
Good quality for a Bootleg
It's all vocal, hardly any instruments, but still amazing
Maybe because the singer was also the writer?
Maybe you should get your earphones or speakers checked? How can you not hear the instruments?
+brad gilker Your drug may have had an influence on your comment.
+brad gilker You are right. As far as mixes go the vocals completely dominate. Of course you can hear everything else, but it's far from an adequate mix.
@@msorte through headphones the guitar is more prominent but yeah not a good mix
Bobby Brown's Humpin' Around sounds very similar. Coincidence?
What does mean "suppin boze"?
Crazy ways are evident

As the evening starts to glow.
Thanks to all
Did page use the open tuning when doing this live? I can't really tell on my phone.
search for earls court 75 and you'll find great zeppelin live.
BEAST

You know it!!!!
is this really 1973 performance
PS Just realized what Robert may have meant by seeing "A lion standing there with a tadpole in a jar". He himself was a leonine-looking guy, and was looking back to his own adolescence. To take the analogy further - and this might be way off the truth - but tadpoles are used as a parallel for human sperm, which young men are sometimes encouraged to, er, distribute.
i heard page played this song on the (pedal) steel guitar.
Every song qualifies in it's own way, though.
How did I not mention - that I got Made In Japan in third-grade for behaving myself n the dentist's chair. I freaked on The Mule when Ian dd that super-fast bass drum roll with a single pedal. @cesaresusa hey im 13 and i think this is way better than the crap they have nowadays
As usual Bonzo beating those drums like a rented mule
@artardful I think that's a good point. I don't look at it as a generational thing, but these corporate creeps seem to be DELIBERATELY dumbing down everything...especially music. akathasamurai you don't need weed to enjoy zeppelin........ but if you have it...... much better
'You don't need weed to enjoy Zeppelin', etc etc blah, blah, etc whatever.
There you go. No, you're welcome. Right, I'm having a bong.
a: You don't need weed to enjoy ZEP---and I'm NOT kidding.
iTook you seriously with no regrets.....
Never DIS MY LEDZ!
I second that, but I do understand where cesaresusa is coming from. I'm one of three kids in my school that I know of that listens to Led Zeppelin.

SIPPPIN BOOOZE

Whaaat? I didn't know Stone Temple Pilots covered this. I thought it was their original song all this time.
can anyone explain the line about the tadpole in a jar???
Please!:)
2 days before pageys birthday i believe ;)
@bluetape13 hahahaha!!! I wanna play! I wanna play! Um, he should be strapped down and forced to listen to "Oops I did it again" about a gazillion times. Yeah, that oughta do it lol
The house speakers ducked, he rearranged the ENTIER song on the fly
Which show is this from.
bonzo is breaking tree trunks on this one.shreading his sticks.
heavy
@mielazul It's comin, man. Don't worry
sure you dont need weed, but it makes the expefience even better
John Bonham....the drums...make it right!
@mghurtado84 ok, so what are u sating. he wasent horrible live, just horrible live ? got it thanx.
Jimmy must've been using his Bigsby-equipped Les Paul on this one.
Rat's Nest FM nope. it was his usual Les Paul. the black beauty was stolen before this.
Interesting. Didn't realize that. It sounds a lot like he's using a tremolo bar from the way he's whammying the overdubbed parts here. Just another Jimmy Page gear mystery, I guess.
It's slide of hand
@metalloversrejoice I kind of see what you're saying, but for someone like me, I find it a waste to put in a lot of extra effort to truly appreciate typical popular groups today, when I can just find appreciation first-hand with groups like Led Zeppelin; because for me at least, it takes a lot of effort to appreciate how generic and arguably untalented music is praised. That's the difference between when Zeppelin was new and those today who are new. The musicianship has drastically dropped.
!
Bootleg mix and probably not the best monitors. Sound and lighting are so much more advanced now.
Hey, you know, this is alright!
yeah, ok cesaresusa, it's the older generations fault for the music being what it is today. yeah, right.
