that’s changed my outlook on chokes i know Mr faulds shoots super cyclinder at close targets im a fan off 1/2 and full your guide has got me thinking i need to order a full set of teague’s !
Hi Russell, thanks as always for your tuition and excellent videos, takes me back to when we met in Delhi 2010! Our association moved away from lead to steel at the GCTSA over the past couple of years. We now use Eley VIP eco wads steel 7's 24g as we shoot over a cliff into the sea. I've just purchased the new Beretta 688 Performance 76cm and there's various opinions as to what chokes I should be using for O/T, Ball Trap and DTL. My MX8 3/4 , full, patterned at 30mtrs shoots 60/40.As were using steel should I pattern at 20m or the same 30m? I'm quite a quick shooter average 0.6.-0.7 reaction time. As usual advice greatly appreciated Best regards!!!
If you are looking to determine the correct choke as opposed to where your shotgun is shooting then ideally you need to work out the distance you are actually breaking the target at. Depending on the targets angle and height, most “fast” O T shooters rarely hit targets within 25 metres
He only wanted to compare the chokes, perhaps he used only the lower one since usually one barrel shoots higher than the other and he would not be able to make a proper comparison using both barrels
That board is way better then paper or cardboard I'm used too. Any tips on making a smiliar pattern board to keep at my club? Metal kind and thickness? Just Normal white paint? BTW, thanks too all your videos, I've completely revamped my (american) trap stance, hold, and pretty much everything. I've gone from a 18-21 average to 22-24 in no time at all!
Ideally 10mm thickness and 1.5 metre by 1.5 metre and approx 1.2 metres off the ground is ideal (sorry for metric if you are American) Paint is 2/3 motor oil mixed with 1/3 white oil based paint. try to keep water out of the mixture
@@nabilalateeqi4757 if you want to buy 18.6 Optima chokes buy them from Beretta. Make sure they are suitable for your shotgun. Not all chokes are interchangeable between barrels.
I mainly shoot ATA trap, I have a fixed choke combo , 34 inch with 0.034 choke, O/U with 0.027 U & 0.037 O. Any recommendations? Do you have "barrel smiths" backbore or rechoke your guns?

@@GoShooting Well I guess we all should stop shooting sporting clays and trap then! The range and pattern around 40 yards is especially important for sporting clays. Great video thanks from the UK!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you! Very quick to the point and straight forward!
Excellent demonstration and explanation of the effects of choke. Thanks for sharing. All the best from Scotland. Garry
Many thanks
Thank you shot clays for the first time today and hit a few 😊
Great pattern, great shotgun, and great cartridge.
Another great video Russel 👍🥇
Thanks 👍

Why do you pattern using only lower barrel? Enjoy your videos, I’ve learned a lot. Thanks.
He only wanted to compare the chokes, perhaps he used only the lower one since usually one barrel shoots higher than the other and he would not be able to make a proper comparison using both barrels
We make the assumption for a simple POA/POI test that both barrels are the same, we do a specific test for the 2nd barrel (top)
Less perceived recoil!
Wow well explained. Thanks bro

I think so!
In the full ckoke weapon, what should we do if it spreads too much?

Do you remember where you got your shotgun choke tube gauge at? Thanks
It was custom made for an 18.4 bore
You shotgun optima HP chokes or only optima choke and is it 18.4 or 18.6 bore and if I want same chokes from where can I get?
Beretta 18.6

Could you use targets to show the difference. Could you use a target to show the effects of too little or too much choke.
Probably a good suggestion
How are the gunlaws in Australia? Can you shoot clays on your own land?
great video, when pattering does it matter if the position of the patterning board is lower from the shooting postition ? like sgooting down hill?
No it won't matter. It is important to mount the shotgun the same to your face at the pattern board as if you were shooting at your target
Thank you again for great video!!! Qestion: what is the difference between ported and non-ported chokes?
Nothing
Ported chokes are much nastier, no advantage.

The latest model Beretta that we use is a DT11 which has been "overbored" at the factory.
hello go shooting , ive been trying to look for a berretta choke gauge forever , any ideas where i can get one? thanks
Sadly the one I had was custom made for 18.4mm constriction barrels. I have never seen a Beretta made gauge.

Hello.what is the best pourcentage of bullets for a rifle to put at the bottom and at the top?

Does using a choke reduce the exit speed of the shot?
Not at all.

3/4 & Full for OT, Half & Full for DT

Great idea to show choke pattern only you should pattern at 40 yds. :(
40 yards is only worth doing if you are analysing shot shell performance. Many chokes are not effective at 40 yards.
