Thank you Russel for your video showing how to use eyes. I really appreciate your smart manner to demonstrate how. I am a skeet instructor. After a coaching session, i write my comments to my trainees. I always attached couple of short videos to my comments. I select videos accordingly to the learnings covered during such session(s). Yours are amongst my selection. You help me to help my trainees. 👍😄
And to this excellent bit of gun mounting regimen I'd add champion skeet shooter Todd Bender's frequently repeated advice in his videos, "STAY IN THE GUN" after the shot and through the follow-through..
@@GoShooting The video doesn't show a good perspective of the shotgun stock on your shoulder. We all heard you say high on the shoulder, but how exactly is it supposed to look like?
C'est une excellente nouvelle, mais quelle que soit la qualité de nos vidéos, c'est vous qui devez appuyer sur la gâchette au bon moment. Je ne peux pas t'aider là :)
How much of the top of the rib should one see? In other words, if the pupil is half obscured by the gun, then one would only see the bead. As one raises the pupil, one will see an apparent rib of one-eight of an inch, then one-quarter of an inch, etc.
Hi Russel, just wondering if you could do a video on shoulder position. There’s some people, like Aaron Heading that project their left shoulder forward, yet other’s like Alipov shoot with very square shoulders. Also some (I think you and Mike diamond do this) lift their right shoulder slightly whereas others like Giovanni Pellielo shoot with a relaxed/ dropped right shoulder. I’m wondering if any of this effects the swing or just what feels comfortable to the shooter. Thanks.
Hi Russell. Is it better to keep your line of vision in the parallel line with the top barell, or keep it little above, so there is a slight angle between the top barell line and the line of your eye and the front sight? thank you
I always think it’s best straight out over the end of the barrel. The end of your barrel is your “third eye”. You never want to seperate the distance of your eye, end of barrel and target by too much
Another question Russel I don’t know if I spell your name correctly. Can I use put away method to shoot Trap ?please let me know if you can .Again thanks for the channel and for share your knowledge with us..
Hi my friend. No. Trap is exclusively the swing through method of lead. Anyone who tells you anything else has never won a decent trap competition Cheers Russell
can you explain to me the advantages and disadvantages of high piping and what you should pay special attention to thanks Marc i have a beretta x trap 692 high rib
One of the main advantages of the higher rib shotguns is that it increase target acquisition if you are using two eyes and are starting the shotgun above the roof of the trap house.
Please let me know what shotgun is the best for hunting. break action over, pump action, Simi outmatic . And what is the suitable long for the rifle. Thank you.
What do I when I am left handed and rig eye dominant ? So far I’ve been shopping with the shotgun on my left, using the left eye with the right closed. Is that correct? Thanks
If you are left handed and right eye dominant, you should use tape to cover your dominant eye. Check out this video on using one eye. ua-cam.com/video/jBK9s5HSnp4/v-deo.html
Is it possible for right handed, left-eye dominant shooter to shoot right handed with modified head position or should that shooter learn to shoot left handed so that they can maintain a good form and head position?
Great Video Russell. I do have a question. When looking down the barrel while aiming, should the the rib be seeing flat or should it be seeing like a triangle. Meaning that I can see the grooves traveling to the end of the barrel? Does it make sense?
The term you are referring to (if you have a centre bead) is seeing a figure 8. That means the top of the centre bead is seen to touch the bottom of the foresight (end bead). Whilst I would advice you not to look at these beads when you are taking aim at your target, as a training aid, they are great. The term you describe as seeing a triangle is fundamentally correct.
@@GoShooting Thank you very much for your response. So that figure 8 that you described will be stretched (beads will be separated) if you rise your comb to get a higher POI. Correct?
Bloody hell at last someone who's got it right . It drives me nuts when i see shooters cranking their heads over the combe [Stock] keep your head straight and use you nose like a gimble closer too or further away from the stock to get your eye over the centre of the rib then raise your nose higher or lower to get your eye down on the rib. a pound coin with the front bead floating does the job. that's how i teach and it gets results. I could never hit what I could see. To hit, my muzzle must cover the bird. Thus, I hit what I don't see. The fix: red dot sights! 100% improvement over arcane shotgun sights.
This is one of my bad habits. It is exacerbated by modern shotguns that have very little drop on the stock. So I shoot over the bird too often. Still haven't worked this out.
Watch professional motorbike riders. No matter where the bike goes their eyes are kept horizontal or as near as is practical... Canting causes untold problems...
As a former avid sport bike rider (2004 Honda CBR1000RR) I can say you nailed it with that example. No matter how low you dive into and complete a curve your head and neck will instinctively level your eyes. Including when you drag your knee through a corner.
It’s not??? What is it then? I have been calling it a firearm for over 40 years. I never call it a weapon , but I am pretty sure most of the world consider a shotgun to be a firearm.
You got me for a sec there with the gun drop hahaha
Chess, wine and clays... oh my.
Simply put, well done.
