If you have a day to spare (and a car), I suggest packing a lunch and go nature exploring. Start at the Lynn Canyon Bridge (a free suspension bridge), then drive to Cleveland Dam. At the dam, walk down to salmon hatchery. If the timing is right, then you can even see the salmon spawn. If you're feeling energetic, the Grouse Grind is not far away. After that, drive on to Horseshoe Bay and explore a bit. The scenery is gorgeous. Then head north to Porteau Cove for more views. Shannon Falls is next and if Grouse Grind wasn't enough, you can hike up the Chief. (about 3+ hours). Finally, drive up to Tantalus lookout, then turn around and drive back to Vancouver. Try to time it so you can make it to the Quercus point in Murrin Provincial Park in time for sunset. The hike up there is pretty easy, takes about 30 minutes. So if sunset is 7, get started on the hike at 6pm. IMO, best sunset ever. Bring a flashlight because it'll be dark going down.
I just moved to Vancouver from Toronto on last Nov. for my retirement. I love this place very much. The weather is warmer than Toronto, and people are more friendly as well. Like your video. I will try to explore more beautiful places in BC. Take care.
Wow Angela your video was such a treat! The footage is gorgeous and the editing is awesome. You hit some great spots - and yes it rains here quite a bit! I especially love that you and your intrepid parents chose to share this adventure! And that you are foodies. Look forward to enjoying the rest of your videos. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing. I live in North Vancouver but love seeing where folks go to check out, have fun and great places to eat too. I went to Victoria last year and haven't been back before that for a long time, it's changed a lot and I fell in love with it too.
Great video! Its very awesome to see people really enjoy their time in Vancouver and on the island. As a Vancouverite who has been to most of the places (especially the Holiday Inn Colwood and taking the ferry a few times a month) in the video, it's definitely encouraging to me to appreciate the things that is everyday to me =)

Leanne, you says you live in Vancouver, and you gave her a great tour great video comment!!!! But, Oh my God, this video showed everything so fast. It’s awful!!!!!!! She was just running around like crazy!!!!! She could had done a few videos instead of jamming everything into one video!!!!! This is like a few months ago, but it popped out now. Wow Angela you were only 10 mins from where i live In Parksville. You need to come back in the Summer and the goats will be on the roof! I love living in BC! I grew up in Surrey BC but I've also lived in Saskatchewan and Alberta then the North end of Vancouver Island before moving to Parksville BC.
really cool video...especially as i live within maybe like 5-7 min to the 'goats on the roof' place in coombs, bc...I live in errington, which is right next to parksville (which is north of nanaimo around 27 min)....lived here my whole life. and im 32 years old now. I recognized alot of the places as ive been to pipers lagoon (pipers lagoon is REALLY pretty when its a warm summer day!) many times, as well as victoria, nanaimo, vancouver, and many more.
Hi Angela. I just wanted to thank you for this wonderful video! I actually used it as a guide for our road trip last February. We took the same ferry’s to and from Vancouver Island, had the double baked almond croissant at Thomas Haas (divine!), went to Lynn Canyon and even stayed at the same SureStay hotel. All great recommendations. Only major difference was that we had added Tofino to our itinerary, which was also fantastic. Thanks again!!
Hi Marieke! Thank you so much for your kind words :) It makes me so happy to hear that my travels have inspired and helped others with their trips. I hope you had an amazing trip ❤️

Parking downtown is quite expensive, but I would still recommend renting a car if you can. It is much more convenient in my opinion.
