AERIAL VIEWS of Carnforth Steamtown, Sidings & Dave’s Horse behind the Loco Shed..!

  • See a birds-eye view of the West Coast Railways Carnforth Steamtown depot with the large sidings areas also.
A mix of traction and rolling stock is present with 46115 'Scots Guardsman' being prepared for an outing to York.
Filming conditions were not ideal - A very bright and low winter sun, with very cold temps leaving a layer of frost on the roof of most carriages and traction.
This footage was filmed in full compliance to current CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) regulations for drone usage (Dec-22)
Hope you enjoy the video! Thanks for watching.

What an interesting and so different view to have of such an iconic placel. I bet that all rail enthusiasts will be surpised by the great overview only such drone footage actually gives.
You wanna keep up the good work and offer your skills to all different potential interested people who know of such interesting places, not only railway sites.
I have seen other drone footage shot all over the world but the majority of footage isn't as smooth and flowing thus doesn't keep one's attention as well as your film has.
Well done and Thanx a million for sharing your artwork with us none drone flyers.

I remember my childhood, many days of school holidays spent at Steam Town. I even got to drive Sir Nigel there once to the coaling stay from the shed. OK told to pull that then push it back. It was also the home to 4472 a few black fives along with other things. It was a long walk round the roads from the station but was told of a short cut from one of the staff at Carnforth. Happy days.

Thanks for this, the aerial view gives a great perspective. Stuff like this is also great inspiration for model railway building.
I remember going to Steam Town about 40 years ago when I was 10 and seeing Flying Scotsman and Sir Nigel Gresley amongst others. Shame the museum is no longer open.

It's at least now up to all the viewers and enthusiasts to make their own minds up as to how to go forward with such brandnew knowledge of the site.
Who knows maybe one day and only thanks to such footage people will come together and manage to breath some life back into this precious place.
You see the other option would be to just forget about it and leave it all to its own demise.
Rather see the positive outcome which the footage may finally have triggered.
