- Jesus Meets Simon Peter The Angry Fisherman
Welcome to this condensed version of Franco Zeffirelli's biblical story of Jesus, drawn from the classic film Jesus of Nazareth (1977). The complete uncut film runs over 6 hours which is difficult to fit into most people's busy and sometimes chaotic lives. So enjoy this condensed version! And if you are only somewhat familiar with the life of Jesus of Nazareth, may it expand your understanding of his life, death, and resurrection. Thanks for viewing!
And most importantly, If you have not received forgiveness for your sins and asked Jesus into your heart as Lord and Savior, it's not complicated or hard. Every single follower of Christ has been in the same position as you and have done the same thing... simply from your heart let him know you're sorry for your sins, short comings, and failures. Ask for forgiveness from those sins and ask him to come into your life and change your heart and to give you strength and to lead you on this new path you have now started. There's no magic involved or magic words to say, just cry out for forgiveness and mercy from your heart in truth and he'll hear you and meet you right where you are. Beyond that, take the time to read the Bible, I would start with the New Testament, and find a Christ centered church to attend and start your journey as a follower of Jesus Christ. Be cautious not to let the distractions of modern life pull you away from this gift God gives us freely! Protect it and don't ever give up! Congratulations! God bless you and welcome to the family! Here's a link to a page that goes into more depth for any questions you will likely still have.

When I was going through my alcohol and drug addiction, I would always watch this movie....
How's it going my friend? Hope that you're better and are ready for a new life? Jesus lives now and in the future.
Imagine looking right at the real Jesus face to face and growling at Him, "Well, what are You staring at?!" The knowing smile on His face is priceless. And the actor who portrayed Peter totally nails the part.
That's what I was thinking - you're looking into the face of the undying one, the son of Man. The One sent to Earth to collect and redeem ALL the sins of the World. It can't get better than this...
@@johnmh1000 When Peter says, "Come, You can preach to the fish", it occurred to me just now that something inside Peter knows that this Man is different. I mean, Peter just got done complaining that there are no fish in the lake, and now he sort of says that there are!
Peter had a very explosive personality.
But a man with a good heart.
After awhile he started to believe in Crist
and he calmed down.
Good point.
My favorite portrayal of Peter ever
100% agree, Farentino R.I.P., did an amazing job playing Peter. Thanks of watching and leaving a great comment, God bless!
Best all time Jesus movie!
Amen, I agree 100%. Thank you for the comment!
It's been 25 years since I was gifted the VHS on my 15th birthday, and I still adore this film. Now I have the DVD, Blu-ray, and even the digital version, each upgrade a testament to my enduring love for it. Robert Powell's portrayal remains the gold standard, making _Jesus of Nazareth_ (1977) the definitive cinematic depiction for me.
@@ericchips9314 Amen, I agree 100% with you. I have loved this film for so long as well. From what I understand, Robert Powell is not a Christian so I've been praying as oft as I think about it for him and cast who are not to come to faith in Christ. His portrayal of Jesus has ministered to so many folks around the world over the years.
Thank you for your comment, God bless!
jesus smile is so epic
This iteration of the story of Jesus was the best I ever saw. It was written in a down to earth manner and all the actors did such a great job. James Farentino as Peter did the finest work of his career. Robert Powell as Jesus was so moving that when he looked into the camera you felt he was looking into your soul. I try to never miss it.
I'm with you 100% on that, I've always enjoyed this film's presentation of the gospel the most to. I appreciate all the others, but JoN has always had a special place for me. Thanks for the comment, God bless!

Thank you. I’m going to watch it again this year and pay close attention to Jon this time.
@@robertacolarette1594 Amen to that, have ta stay strong in the Lord during these crazy times!
We can do all things in Jesus name.
Amen! God bless!
This clip should have millions of views. It's an important moment in Christ's ministry. John's comment about the law being "written in our hearts" is the essence of what Christ's time walking among us is all about.
100% Agree, great point!
I agree with you 👍
I always imagined St Peter this way, like any of us, full of doubts and frustration until you see the Truth right in front of you smiling. Thats really how God sees all of us I suppose.
Amen, great point... God bless!
Great performance for James F.,as Peter and why Jesus chose him-he was flawed and struggled he knew what it was like to work so hard and still struggle more, he was every man but also had a compassionate heart beneath the "angry" exterior. He made mistakes but repented and tried again, he truly became worthy to hold the keys to the Kingdom.
The best movie, the best actors,i love you jesus amen,❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
Amen!
All his miracles and we still killed him. We still betrayed him. We still lied to him. Forgive us lord
This is my favorite portrayal of Simon-Peter. Plus, I'm looking forward to Passion of the Christ Resurrection next year!!
One of my favourite scene 🎼🎤💐💐💐♥️♥️⛪⛪🌹🌹
I love this scene too, funny where Peter acts tough and Jesus just smiles... great scene. Great comment, God bless!
The man who plays Peter saw saint Peter when filming
Interesting, never heard that before, God bless!
Really wow that’s amazing ❤
This was such a great movie.
in history
Collects Peter & Matthew with the same fish/fishermen nets. There's no words that can begin to describe almighty GOD'S wisdom.
Amen to that, I agree 100%... God is sooooo good. God bless you!
my lord my god
3:53 "What are you staring at?"
Peter was my favorite person in Bible other than Jesus
yo ma people! beautiful! we seem to be forgetting this Miracle every day of our lives. don't renounce ma brothers and sisters. all is good. all is beautiful. have faith every moment of your life. Jesus is Everything. For Ever and Ever and Ever. Praise the Lord. For Ever and Ever and Ever, Neverending. Praise the Lord.
Awesome to just thinking about that moment in time
Amen.
El actor que interpreta a pedro es James Farentino .
Para mi el mejor actor.
Es una pena que nadie lo recuerde.
Absolutamente, 100% de acuerdo, fue un gran actor... lo amé en Final Countdown. ¡Dios los bendiga!
@@darkenedskiesahead3670
Muchas gracias !!!!!
James Farentino was perfect in this role. To me he became St. Peter. IMO, he should have been cast as Santino Corleone in "The Godfather".
Agree with you 100%, Farentino was an amazing actor. God bless!
@@darkenedskiesahead3670 Thank you so much! I subscribed!
Amen❤️🙏🌹
Do not shut the door in His face. Any issues Our Lady will lead you to her Son
"Tu es Petrus..."
"la roca... ¡y sobre esta roca edificaré mi iglesia!" Amén, Dios los bendiga!
According to Tradition, Zebedee was a brother of St Joseph, so that makes the Apostle John and the rest of the Sons of Zebedee nephews of Christ
😊
That's the best thumbnail I have ever seen
Generally my thumb creation sucks, but I'm slowly getting better. Thank you for your comment!
@@darkenedskiesahead3670 that was spot on , the angry fisherman during one of his best rants !
@@dhlhthriwdhskissos9606 Yeah James Farentino was one of my favorite actors, he was really good. He did a great job in the 1980 film The Final Countdown playing the Wing Commander. And he did such a great job playing Peter... you're right, his anger really came through.
Jesus ask simon to stop fishing🙄and follow him to church🥺
Peter saying to jesus, you can preach to the fish😂😂😂 omg
There is hardly any fish im the sea next to none
When you catch a fish god puts it on the end of your hook
When you go over a shoulder fish they are manifested like they are here in the movie
You catch when god says the sea is dead out there
When you go fishing god works his magic
PETER AND IT IS TOO MUCH BEFORE JESUS
what is the meaning of the scene at 5:32-5:52 ?
This film clip is just an "artistic" representation or interpretation of the five New Testament accounts of the story of when Jesus met Peter, John and the sons of Zebedee; Who would later become some of his 12 disciples. I agree, that scene is a strange way of portraying the account where Peter reluctantly went back out and let down his fishing nets again and they were filled to overflowing... also a fore representation of how these men would become fisherman of men's souls as Christ's disciples. Here's one of the primary scriptures from the bible for reference. Thanks for watching and taking the time to add this question; God bless.
Luke 5:1-11 New King James Version
Four Fishermen Called as Disciples
5 So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him(Jesus) to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, 2 and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. 3 Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s(Peter), and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. 4 When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” 6 And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. 7 So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. 8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” 9 For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; 10 and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” 11 So when they had brought their boats to land, they [a]forsook all and followed Him.
@@darkenedskiesahead3670 so it means that the scene when jesus looks at the water and there's shadow/siluet (or what's that idk) of fisherman in that water represent how they are will be fishers of men?
@@personsans9370 Obviously I'm not the person who wrote/envisioned this scene... I'm just guessing that's what it represented. It's a great example of leave the artsy stuff aside and keep it simple for the sake of the viewer.
The First Pope!
👎 writer, and Director,...
Were they trying to Change the TRUTH of how things happened ?
On purpose?
Or maybe they just DONT KNOW.
