Imagine looking right at the real Jesus face to face and growling at Him, "Well, what are You staring at?!" The knowing smile on His face is priceless. And the actor who portrayed Peter totally nails the part.
That's what I was thinking - you're looking into the face of the undying one, the son of Man. The One sent to Earth to collect and redeem ALL the sins of the World. It can't get better than this...
@@johnmh1000 When Peter says, "Come, You can preach to the fish", it occurred to me just now that something inside Peter knows that this Man is different. I mean, Peter just got done complaining that there are no fish in the lake, and now he sort of says that there are!

This iteration of the story of Jesus was the best I ever saw. It was written in a down to earth manner and all the actors did such a great job. James Farentino as Peter did the finest work of his career. Robert Powell as Jesus was so moving that when he looked into the camera you felt he was looking into your soul. I try to never miss it.

I always imagined St Peter this way, like any of us, full of doubts and frustration until you see the Truth right in front of you smiling. Thats really how God sees all of us I suppose.
This clip should have millions of views. It's an important moment in Christ's ministry. John's comment about the law being "written in our hearts" is the essence of what Christ's time walking among us is all about.
Peter was actually a very angry, hot tempered, and cowardly in the beginning of his life. But he was actually very extremely bold and solid preacher in the Book of Acts. He was crucified upsidedown for he wasn't worthy to be crucified like Jesus Christ himself. The way he said Well, what are you staring at. You can actually preach to the fish.
This is why faith is everything. Even Babylon knew about God but they chose others instead just like Jews. Man in our current form would get way too familiar with God and we would forget everything and worship others right in front of his face. You can see why he is a jealous God, seeing his bride run away with another god/gods time and time again when he has done more than enough to prove himself but as you probably know with us humans, nothing is ever enough! God bless
Great performance for James F.,as Peter and why Jesus chose him-he was flawed and struggled he knew what it was like to work so hard and still struggle more, he was every man but also had a compassionate heart beneath the "angry" exterior. He made mistakes but repented and tried again, he truly became worthy to hold the keys to the Kingdom.

Peter here is a perfect representation of a rough and tumble no nonsense fisherman, hardened by the trade he’s in and not afraid to voice his opinions loud and clear, this would be the Peter in real life and yet in the presence of the Lord he became a fisher of men!
It's amazing that such a choleric and quarrelsome man like Peter, would be chosen by Jesus to be one of his chief disciples. And have a primary role in the founding of the Christian Church. Perhaps Jesus realized that this bellicose ready-to-use-his-fists type of person, was perfect as the leader of his disciples.
Same with Saul of Tarsus the Christian prosecutor... God chose to use him over more devout followers that most believe would have made better teachers/leaders. And he went on to write most of the New Testament.
There is hardly any fish im the sea next to none When you catch a fish god puts it on the end of your hook When you go over a shoulder fish they are manifested like they are here in the movie You catch when god says the sea is dead out there When you go fishing god works his magic
Peter probably would've been happier if Jesus had transported Matthew the tax collector onto Peter's boat...whereupon they'd promptly seize him, thrash him from head to toe, and then throw him into the sea. _Then_ Jesus would get jiggy with the fish miracle. That would make Peter's day.
@@dhlhthriwdhskissos9606 Yeah James Farentino was one of my favorite actors, he was really good. He did a great job in the 1980 film The Final Countdown playing the Wing Commander. And he did such a great job playing Peter... you're right, his anger really came through.
This film clip is just an "artistic" representation or interpretation of the five New Testament accounts of the story of when Jesus met Peter, John and the sons of Zebedee; Who would later become some of his 12 disciples. I agree, that scene is a strange way of portraying the account where Peter reluctantly went back out and let down his fishing nets again and they were filled to overflowing... also a fore representation of how these men would become fisherman of men's souls as Christ's disciples. Here's one of the primary scriptures from the bible for reference. Thanks for watching and taking the time to add this question; God bless. Luke 5:1-11 New King James Version Four Fishermen Called as Disciples 5 So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him(Jesus) to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, 2 and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. 3 Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s(Peter), and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. 4 When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” 6 And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. 7 So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. 8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” 9 For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; 10 and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” 11 So when they had brought their boats to land, they [a]forsook all and followed Him.

Reading the books of the New Testament, we perhaps asked ourselves more than once: *"Why 2000 years we do not see those miracles that accompanied the Сhurch of Christ in the I century, as described in the New Testament?"* Why do the so-called preachers of Christ have to prove that Jesus really existed and atheists boldly deny the historicity or divine origin of Christ? Maybe because the Сhurch of Christ has not existed for 2000 years? The Сhurch does not exist in the form in which it is presented in the books of the New Testament, but there are Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant and other christian sects claiming to be the place of the Church, but they not have the only thing that distinguishes the divine from the human and is characteristic of just the Сhurch of Christ -the reinforcement of the word with signs, that is, miracles (Mark 16:15-20). Therefore, some researchers doubt the historicity of Christ, and some of them are not opposed to declaring him a an ordinary philosopher, teacher. But even if Jesus were an ordinary philosopher, his disciples would be ordinary followers of Jesus. And they would not dare to write about the miracles that not only Jesus, but also his disciples, could perform. If there were the Church in our time as described by the authors of the New Testament books, where miracles are performed, the sick are healed, where prophesied, and the dead are raised, no one would doubt the historicity of Christ. Then there would be the same controversy throughout the world as in the first century - Jesus the Son of God or the false prophet who seduces the world by miracles. As a result, we can say that the emergence and development of christian sects and atheism was the result of the fact that over the 2000 years the Сhurch of Christ did not exist.
