Welcome to this condensed version of Franco Zeffirelli's biblical story of Jesus drawn from the classic film Jesus of Nazareth (1977). The complete uncut film runs over 6 hours which is difficult to fit into most people's busy and sometimes chaotic lives today. So enjoy this condensed version! And if you are only somewhat familiar with the life of Jesus of Nazareth, may it expand your understanding of his life, death, and resurrection.
Most importantly, if you have not received forgiveness for your sins and asked Jesus into your heart as Lord and Savior, it's not complicated or hard. Simply from your heart let him know you're sorry for all your sins, short comings, and failures. Ask for forgiveness from those sins and ask him to come into your life and change your heart and to give you strength and to lead you on this new path you have now started. There's no magic words to say, just cry out for forgiveness and mercy from your heart in truth and he'll be there. Beyond that, take the time to read the Bible, I would start with the New Testament, and find a Christ centered church to attend and start your journey as a follower of Jesus. Be cautious not to let the distractions of modern life pull you away from this gift from God, protect it and don't ever give up! Now congratulations! God bless you and welcome to the family! I agree, I've thought that same thing... he, regardless of his spiritual state, was used so mightily in this film; it's impacted so many lives for Christ. I'm not sure if Powell is yet a follower of Jesus, but I often pray for the Lord to send laborers across his path that he will come to Christ before leaving this world. Interestly, prior to his 1977 project, lew grade told him that less is more regarding the portrayal of Jesus christ...
He didn't want christ does Shakespeare... he wanted ethereal and human... hence the juxtaposition of the piercing stare and easy speech cadence...

Robert has always been my favorite Jesus portrayed in film. Have always hoped he was a follower of Christ; some say he is, some say he is not. What I've never got all these years is why the locals carried out the crucifixions and not the Romans. Odd.
You see what you want to see... maybe watch again, it was the Romans who performed the actual crucifixion. The Jews could not due to being under the rule/occupation of Rome. Pilate allowed the crowd to vote for either Jesus or Barabbas, the Jews chose Barabbas. It had to be that way before God in their accountability; he had to be rejected by his own to fulfill the Old Testament prophets.

Yes, those are what we call "reenactors..." that's an actor pretending to be Jesus for illustration purposes. And yes, they were spraying water to simulate rain in an effort to make the scene more dire. So yes, looks as though a droplet got in his eye and he blinked. Great reason to mock and choose not to follow Christ and inherit eternity. Thankfully we all have freewill and it's your own soul, not mine so poke fun and mock away. 👍

This is hard to watch. When our Blessed and beloved lady enters into her agony as she cradles the deceased Christ, few people realize that she exclaims "Figlio Mio" in Italian, which means "My son". You can hear it at 35:43 - FIGLIO ,MIO. My son is spoken in Italian. This is heartbreaking, and the Italian director created a masterpiece that will never be reproduced.
