Google Tasks is meant to be simple by definition. Of course there are many other, more sophisticated, To-Do apps that integrate with Google Calendar. Incidentally, all of the things you said you couldn't do with Tasks can be solved by creating an event in the Calendar.
I think I might just prefer the simplicity of google tasks as it is. The only thing I would wish for in google tasks is the ability to set the time window for the task. The way I workaround that is: I look at my tasks for tomorrow and create events in a "Plan" calendar that correspond to those tasks. I later move that event to a "Timesheet" calendar to indicate that I followed through with the Plan and worked on that task during that time. If I had not worked as per the Plan, I just delete that event and make a new plan for later.
One of the features i like about Google Tasks is if you don't mark it as completed, it jumps into a daily task list for every day following. So, yes, I i don't always get those tasks done. Does the GQ software have this same capability? Or do you need to move it?

@@BillRocklin one thing that I figured out this week is that you can import your Google Tasks into GQ, but they do NOT sync back and forth. Honestly I LOVE GQ now that I’ve implemented and executed I will do ALL through GQ, seriously a game chager
Meh, Google tasks is effective and integrates fine with gmail and calendar. For more complex stuff I use google keep. I try to avoid 3rd party dependencies.
