I think Bo-Katan is being misread by a lot of people. I think what we are seeing in Chapter 18/19 is the birth of hope in Bo - not for herself, but possibly for her people. And I think she is trying to sort out if Din is actually the one who should lead. I think she put this to a test at some point, but I think Din will pass in her eyes and she will be supportive.

The first thing I thought when I watched the scene where Bo Katan was welcomes into the covert was that she really wants friends. She spent so much time alone in her castle, abandoned by her compatriots after her failure to get the Darksaber, that she was actually eager to help Din when he needed her aid. Because then she would have the company of a fellow Mandalorian, for a little while at least. Then she willingly guided him to the living waters, despite her cynical view on the traditions of her people. Then she has a nigh-religious revelation by seeing the mythosaur. And _then_ she freely followed Din back to his covert when she didn't have to. I think she doesn't want to be _alone._ It's a very human experience, all things considered: she wants connection. Just a run down of everything that’s happened in Bo Katan’s life up to this point:
-joined death watch presumably to preserve the warrior culture of mandalore/distance herself from her sister who was responsible for it’s erasure
-death watch ended up blindly serving maul. Who let’s be real, exploited Mandolorian culture to give him control of the planet and manipulated them into dying for him and his less than honorable cause.
    - maul ended up killing her sister
    - becomes queen regent after the republic finally arrests maul. Gets deposed immediately as soon as the empire rises
    - finally reunites the people of mandalore to fight against the empire. We find out that at the end war mandalore gets completely wiped out.
I’m totally with Katie Sachoff on this, Bo is TIRED and she has been through so many attempts at trying to reshape/reclaim mandalore. And every single time, it just got immensely worse for her. So yeah, I can definitely see her giving the darksaber (and effectively, the throne) to someone else who seems more worthy

@@hollyrue9001 yup, also people forget the dark saber prophecy and curse that it must be won in battle or else it will curse mandalore. The 2 times bo Katan had the dark saber(that she did not win in combat) mandalore was cursed twice, by maul, and then by the empire destroying the whole planet.
Bo Katan also saw the mythosaur making her realize all those religious stories were not some fake story for kids, but real. This makes her wonder if there is something to Mando and his cult. She knows there is something supernatural about mandalore with the dark saber curse and prophecy and mythosaur. She now wonders if there is a good reason the force has lead the dark saber to being put in mandos hands and his cult.
Bo Katan actually wanted to kill Mando too, very recently. When Grogu + droid landed at her castle she said "that's it Mando, i told you you would die if you came back here again, let's finish this once and for all" ......only for her to see a super very cute Grogu being driven by a droid with no Mando in sight while Grogu was about to cry. She realized Mando trusted his child to go to her to help him, and that even more surprising HE WENT TO MANDALORE when everybody told him it was impossible, proved the toxic gas myth was fake. She sees that Mando might make a good leader with his dedication and bravery to go back to mandalore, and that his true goal is to bring glory back to mandalore and unlike some of his cult members, Mando is willing to work with other clans for the common good of reviving mandalore.
I'm sure mandos cult will reject his idea to work with other clans to restore mandalore. Then Mando will talk about how he was the one who went to mandalore against all odds risking his life, he was the one who won the dark saber back in combat. Then bo Katan will mention the mythosaur pulled him down but then let him go, as oh he was a chosen one. Then a few cult members will call bullcrap and Mando will challenge them to a duel.
Mando will fight off maybe a dozen cultists with the dark saber before the armorer says enough. Mando is right. Our first and foremost goal is restoring mandalore, that comes before everything else, even if we must work with other clans to do so.

@@nicklibby3784 good points! And I hope your prediction is right. I’d really like to see Din wielding the dark saber with confidence and authority. I think he will as he starts to believe in himself.
Some people think Bo-Katan is going to double cross Din, that she isn’t sincere in joining Death Watch and is just biding her time. But I think the chemistry between them is real, and also at this point her character needs to learn to be a supportive partner instead of a leader.
I saw another comment predicting Paz Vizla will try to tame the Mythosaur when Bo finally reveals it exists. I foresee a rematch between him and Din, bc Vizla believes he should be the Mandalore, since a Vizla was indeed the one who created the dark saber to begin with. I’d like to see Paz control the beast, maybe by sedating or some other less honorable method. Then he challenges Din and Din has to fight him and the Mythosaur, and in the process actually tames the creature for real. This would really prove that he IS the true leader.

Basically the theory was that Bo Katan and Pre Vizla (leader of death watch) were going to enter into a political marriage to unite the current royal family and the old royal family once they completed their take over of mandalore. Obviously it’s not confirmed, but it’s a damn effective way to get an entire planet on your side after you depose a government. I wonder if Paz would go down this desperate route of taking the throne by any means necessary (stealing the darksaber, controlling the mythosaur, trying to forcibly marry the person with the strongest claim to the throne currently) and we have this battle between the person who is thinks he’s entitled to rule, and the person who is actually worthy to rule

I absolutely love that Katee Sackhoff was able to convey so precisely what Bo Katan was feeling even with a helmet covering her face. Credit to the director as well for giving us moments like Bo sitting silently, head down, waiting for Mando to wake up. It seemed obvious to me that Bo was *really* struggling with what to do with her discovery of the mythosaur and having her beliefs challenged like that. In the scene at the Covert, again the director and Katee give a great moment that reinforces Bo's struggle with what to do and believe - her reaction (almost shock, as if being startled) to being congratulated for taking the creed, immediately followed by that shot of the mythosaur skull symbol was *great* and again reinforces that she's been confronted with some pretty life altering information. Just great stuff all around.

The Skywalker Era has more than 40 years of writing mixed in with plenty of plot holes, inconsistencies, and bad and illogical choices. Setting off on anew era of Star Wars say 1000 years in the past allow for making a single storyline without in betweenquels and Prequels clouding the mind. And I'm kind of glad Bo's kind of taking a back seat to her previous ambitions. You can tell she felt a sense of pride witnessing Din reclaim his honor for his "hokey religion" then seeing the mythosaur, its akin to witnessing an act of God, miracle, religious experience. Which is why I think she didn't just rip off her helmet after saving Din, nor took it off on the ship. Then, her home, her old way of life, being set ablaze again by the empire, may have seemed like another sign for her. Culminating to her being accepted (sans Visla who may have doubts because of history) may be her truly becoming to believe in the Way again

Bo is truly a well written female character, magnificently adapted, though she may not be a lead, you could definitely see her in a series of her own. The fact that her character plays on the same rulesets now (like not showing the face of the actress) plays a big part of subtext in the creative industry choices we see nowadays.

Her answers are always considered and careful but you can't lose sight of who she is she is working for. Namely, Dave Filoni. Katee has been misdirected by Dave in the past ("Plo Koon?") but she is also in the camp of knowing what she can and cannot say in public. I wouldn't put it past her to have a publicity script to fall back on when she is not sure what to say, or knows that there is a trap in the questions she is being asked. That script will have been agreed with Dave Filoni.
