🤔 WHAT IS SHAPERBOX 2?
Cableguys ShaperBox 2 (PC/Mac, VST/AU/AAX) is a flexible effects rack for precision mixing and creative sound design. It contains seven powerful effects called Shapers. Shapers can be placed in any order you like to create a wide range of effects.
Each Shaper’s effect is controlled by an editable LFO - using Cableguys’ easy editing tools, you can quickly design LFOs of any complexity, combining straight lines and smooth curves.

Thanks for the tips guys. To anyone on the fence about getting the Cableguys box set, do yourself a favour. One of the best audio manipulation, LFO design and creative plugin sets out there. It might seem a little expensive for what it is but the number of tools and hidden little tricks you can do is what outclasses other software by a mile, trust me it's worth every cent and then some. There is a reason why it's a producer 'go to' used across the industry. I would LOVE to see them use their LFO based system to do some sort of Reverb/Delay/Echo, I think they could really do some crazy shit with that. What's more, I think they could add more/different types of filters, drivers etc. imitating different industry hardware. Good times ahead for Cableguys.
Glad you enjoyed Joe's tutorial, and thanks for the awesome feedback - so great to read! 👍
That tight bunched up square wave is the bizness!
this is crazy, man!
Its a heavenly upgrade for gross beat!! And infact most of the top producers use your plugins (armin van burren, nicky romero, and maybe even Seven Lions etc), so yeah keep making those dope plugins!!
My number one fav plug for sound design and manipulation. Literally use it all the time on my beat streams. Lol 😂 thanks guys !
Wow, great to hear we're your #1! 🥇 What is it you like best about ShaperBox? 🤔
@@Cableguys sorry just saw this. What I love best is that is give me the ability to transform anything. From subtle to wild and crazy efx. It also has some great presets but you can also dive deep into manipulating your own sound. Love it ! 😎
@@Jamusictv Awesome, thanks for the insights! 😃
Just wanna say this might be one of the best 3rd party plugins I’ve ever bought. So uh,,, thank you!!!
Honestly, best plug in I own, find myself reaching for it constantly. Thanks so much for this video, I use this all the time and still picked up a few tips! And I saw pitch shaper below, yes!! This would be awesome!
Cool! What new tips did you pick up from the video? We're curious 🙂
@@Cableguys I was always trying to smooth curves with the shaper controls, I had no idea that I could just use the LFO shaper! Game Changing! Also, being able to copy paste wave shapes to other modules was super helpful! I could read the manual but the videos are much better!
@@dh.l7499 LFO Smooth was added in the v2.3 update along with DriveShaper 👍 DriveShaper has it set to 40% by default, which works great for general smoothing away of clicks/pops. It's at 0% in the other Shapers (for compatibility with old projects), but you can just double-click to get the 40% default value. Glad you're getting so much out of the vids!
Excellent tutorial 👌
you guys are doing really helpful tutorial videos - thanks for the inspiration
Hey thanks - we're glad you found it so useful! What new tricks did you learn from this video? 🤔
I didn't know it goes so far.
Definitely great.
Fantastic video. Really showed me that there's much more to this plugin than meets the eye.
Great to hear! What was the biggest eye-opener for you in this video?
@@Cableguys I'll give you a list of things that stood out to me, hopefully, you guys find it useful ^^
1. The pen tools were something I never really wrapped my brain around when advertised through text, but how they worked visually really allowed me to appreciate the power they hold, making the LFO editor seem that much more powerful.
2. The selections tool was a really powerful tool which I wouldn't have known about whatsoever if I hadn't happened to demo your synth Curve2 (Which could honestly use a 3 at the end of it's name at this point ;) ) And even then I still hadn't known about the entirety of its features. something which further expanded my image of the power of the LFO editor.
3. The ability to move the entire drawing by grid spaces was also a cool thing I hadn't noticed.
@@KnzoVortex Wow, thanks for the detailed feedback, very interesting to read! And we hope that Curve will gain that "3" one day 😉
thanks too much for a tip guys!
God Damb What A Toy To Have,, Just Upgraded To The Full Version, BOOM THIS IS FIRE 🔥. THANKS CABLEGUYS It's Flawless.. 😍😘🙏😇💯👌
Great tutorial.. it makes alot more sense now!! amazing VST!!
We're glad the video helped you! 👍
Holy FUCK! This has only 243 likes?!?!? 😭 ARE YOU PEOPLE C R A Z Y ? ! ? ! ? ! ? Best, most intuitive Plugin 21st century! ! ! ! 😀👍🏼 😀👍🏼 😀👍🏼
We are still waiting for pitch shaper !!!! Pleasee!!!
Thanks for your suggestion!
@@Cableguys +1 for Pitch Shaper! That would be an awesome addition to the ShaperBox family. Also, Echo Shaper would be a really fun and creative tool.
Pitch Shaper would absolutely be incredible! I have to say Shaper Box has become my go-to plugin on every single track.
Holy Moly! Echo Shaper would be sick. I am just about to download the new noiseshaper. Really excited about the potential!
Oh fuck yeah pitch shaper! Give us pitch shaper!!!
This is gold
Thank you! Love this tool, and this will help greatly!
Great to hear! What new tricks did you pick up from watching the vid? 🤔
@@Cableguys I didn't know about the shift and ctrl modifiers, which will come in very handy!
Wow! Excellent detail: Need to watch this several more times for it alll to sink in...!
We hope you picked up some new tricks and tips from this vid! 😊
@@Cableguys Most definitely! Thanks!
so glad i watched this
Thanks! Which part did you like best?
Thank you, this is very informative
Glad you liked it! What new trick did you pick up from the video? 🤔
Agree with everyone below, it's a fantastic plugin!
Must have!
🔥🔥🔥👍
I downloaded the free version, found myself loving it and getting the full version.
I used it on most of my channels hard to think how I could live without it now
While it looks simple on the surface, by design I'm sure,
but when you understand how it all functions so many possibilities . Side chain input, is so useful.
You can tell a lot of love and thought has gone into making this Vst, and I'm sure many of use agree
You Guys deserve success. I never take the time to comment on other Devs plugins. Maybe on Hive 2.
Anyway don't want to give you guys a big head ;)
but credit where credit's due as we say
Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment, and we're pleased to hear you're getting so much use from ShaperBox 😊
Thanks loads for this tutorial! I had ShaperBox ver. 01, and wasn't gonna budge to ver. 02 until you added a bunch of features, shapers and functionality - and a sale 😉 This is such a great plugin for automation and sound design! I use Pan Shaper in almost every production. Control via MIDI is great too. 👍🏾👍🏾
v2 definitely brings features, Shapers and functionality 😉 Which new feature are you liking the most?
@@Cableguys Increased window size is appreciated, but the multiband functionality is a boon!
@@moreorlesto v1 has multiband! Did you mean something else?
Great tool
Thanks! We hope you get even more out of it with this tutorial.
Oh wow the Switching Waves with MIDI.... watch until the end!
🎹🎹🎹✨✨ MIDI magic!
Loving this video! :) I gave this tool a try a while ago but i missed a huge feature from it. When using time shaper for example, i wanna only use horizontal lines. Pressing the random button will go totally crazy with those lines. I asked a feature like control clicking the random button which would preserve the horizontal lines, and ctrl-shift clicking would preserve those and the timing too. Is that what version 3 maybe have? If not please include it in your next update and i'll buy it asap :)
You guys should do this for time shaper. That product is amazing but damn its complicated for my brain lol
The drawing works the same in all Shapers, so you can apply everything in this video to TimeShaper 👍 For a guide to which shapes create which effects in TimeShaper, see the Mini Guides: ua-cam.com/video/SeXIHvOGIMY/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Cableguys
Also check out this tutorial by Dan Worrall: ua-cam.com/video/ex0YEWPQW-4/v-deo.html
Those videos show TimeShaper 1, but you'll get the same results in TimeShaper 2. Also search our channel for a few more TimeShaper tutorials!
Yeah I was expecting it and spent 10 minutes to not get what I wanted goddamit xDD
💚👍
🖍👍
Very nice, thank you!
Now you only need to refactor the presets manager...
Agreed! It's on our to-do list 😉👍 For now, you can make finding presets easier by browsing Packs, filtering by Shaper, or using the text search in the Full Search section.
@@Cableguys That's good to hear. I already use your mentioned tips, but since they are limited too and/or not user-friendly when used a lot of times i'm looking forward to a massive update regarding the presets manager.
Btw. i've sent Ronan detailed suggestions what needs to be refactored and extended in my opinion.
and how do you save shapes for later use???
Is there a way to have the length of the segment be, for example, 15 or 14 sixteenth notes long for polymetric phasing? Or to have the background sixteenth note grid be swung?
By retriggering the LFO with MIDI, you can create patterns in any time signature. So for your example, you would set up a MIDI note on every 15th 1/16 note, route it to ShaperBox, and set ShaperBox's MIDI Trigger to On. With a 1 Bar pattern, you'll see it jump back to the start every time the MIDI note is received, ie, it will only play 15/16 of the full bar.
For swing, you can enable the triplet grid in the "…" menu (also available by right-click on the LFO editor area), and use that to draw swing patterns.
You may also find this technique interesting: ua-cam.com/video/IEpXoTf0RAc/v-deo.html
is there a way to freely/custom adjust the shape of the curves - similarly as the way you can with automation curves in ableton?
Yes - you can draw any automation shape using a combination of Hard and Soft points.
Does anyone know the name of song in the beginning of the video? at .15 sec
Thank you very much! I only miss an option of free drawing.
Thanks for your suggestion!
I saw a vid of someone using TRIPLETS in the timeshaper/halftime effect. How can i achieve this instead of being limited to 1 bar, 1/2 1/4, 1/8/ etc..??
Open the Wave menu (by clicking the "three dots" menu, or by right-clicking on the main wave editor), then select "Show triplet grid".
901🥳
is there any way to duplicate a complex selection, say, 1/2 within the same 1 bar?
So you want to duplicate the first half of the bar to the second half, for example? You can select the first half of the bar, hit the 2x button, then stretch the selection out so it takes up the full bar. Does that work for you?
@@Cableguys It does, thanks!
How to save the presets or work on a bank?
Uh...Wow
Which part wowed you the most? We're curious 😁
I really hate this drawing system. Why you couldn't make it simple and intuitive like drawing in Serum or on Ableton grid?
