- BMW performs rollover safety crash tests on their BMWs. This is above and beyond any requirements by the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, but is part of BMWs drive to keep their customers as safe as possible.

No turn signals were harmed in the filming of this video
blinker fluid emtpy as standard
OMG I can't believe I'm saying this. My car's a Vauxhall, not a BMW, and even *IT* doesn't have "blinker fluid" as you called it. Do you know why? *THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS TURN SIGNAL FLUID!!!!!* It's a scam that shitty mechanics use. It's a light. Why does it need fluid? Electricity yes, but fluid no. #WakeUp
I think it was a joke lol
+MrSupercar55 are you serious lol?
xavi er Yup. The only reason BMW drivers (or other drivers) don't indicate is because they are either idiots or simply forgot. Hell, I've been known to not indicate at times.
"It's a challenge to make this vehicle roll" says it all.
Too bad they haven’t made a electric version yet.
Most rollovers don't happen at 10 miles an hour you know...
its seems only car manufacturers who dont know this
The speed is irrelevant. They're calibrating and testing the rollover sensors to deploy the curtain airbags and pre-tensioners. They will deploy before the impact whether you're going 10 mph or 100 mph.
@@joneskey3950 Whats your source?
I believe the footage is slowed so you can see it, Genius
@@joneskey3950 nerd
x6 is one of the safest vehicles in a crash...I've seen these cars in high speed crashes...Awesome strength. ....well done BMW.
2:50 *turns signals turn on*
BMW Drivers: TRIGGERED
Bmw drivers: Wait... guys this blue light is on my dash ion know what it means please help..
U don't need to use turn signal in bmw because they automatically deploy once u turn lanes.
Source- i drive a bmw
You know this vehicle is safe. When the designers build it, try to intentionally roll it, and can't. Damn...
It was at slow speed with a vehicle that has a low center of gravity.....it has nothing to do with how safe it is.....
Kille78 BMW's are very safe vehicles either way. I have investigated several hundred vehicle collisions, and have seen minor to no injuries when dealing with collisions involving a BMW. Thanks for your comment...
Of course the same way TUV made a classification failure rate. Of course Old expensive rare cars have low failure rate. Popular cheap and old have high rate.
Your example - low injuries when toyota honda nissan hyundai etc is more popular car than BMW.
In Volvo crash people die too and horrible injuries. Thanks for TUV philosophy (or ADAC).
Don't try study journalistic manipulation.
Unless it hits the back side of a semi-trailer.
Anything is possible...
Show the fucking crash already........goddamnit!!!!!
fuck i know!
randy norris yes
randy norris They don't show the results of any tests, becuase they aren't good. BMW has NEVER given a damn about safety and to this day ONLY build their cars to pass the test. The only reason they have built this facility is because NCAP etc are starting to look at introducing rollover tests and they don't want such an amazing embarrassment at failing the test miserably again like when the US introduced the minimal offset and it became apparent that they still don't make the cars to be safe, or they would have passed like Mercedes and Volvo did. This test facility pales in comparison to the one Volvo started using 15 years ago, and pales in comparison to Volvos old facility.
Some history about how BMW do not give a shit. The 1997 3 series airbags would deploy after hitting your head in the NCAP test, BMW fixed it for the 2003 model, no recall.
Same car the BMW branded childseats came loose and hit the front seats. No recall.
The passenger cell collapsed. No recall.
Overall rating 1 star.
1995 Volvo S40. 4 Stars, no serious concerns.
When all manufactures were moving to install Volvos curtain airbags, which protected against side impacts for both front and rear passengers of all heights and seating positions, as well as protecting in rollovers. BMW cut corners and when NCAP started testing for head protection they installed an 'inflatable tube' which protected only front seat passengers, not rear. And only if you were the same height and seating position of a test dummy, and didnt protect in rollovers.
Whiplash protection has been standard in Mercedes and Volvo since 1998. BMW didn't fit it until it started being tested for it in the mid 2000s
Fuck even the 2004 5 series only just scraped through with 4/5 stars AFTER they were allowed a retest because the first car tested only got 2 stars and they had to change the design to better pass the test. In comparison every Volvo and most Mercedes released after 2002 has been 5 star rated with no retest needed.
megaangelic Hats off to you. I agree with everything you said.
randy norris LMAO
The real test start at 2:42
thanks dude...what a shitty video
X
yea
Sirui Gu s
Sirui Gu thanks!god bless you!
just scale a hot wheels car to full size and your done. Those suckers are indestructible
But, if you had an accident, the crash forces would all be transmitted to the occupants and increase the likelihood for injuries and/or death.
yes, but i think he was making reference to an old Top Gear ep.
+Miguel Luna Bingo!
Till you get a hammer.
Some Racing Engine you got a hammer the size of a car?
Zis is a Zerman car, ja.
I'm so thankful to live in an era where companies like BMW advance themselves to be ahead of basic regulation when it comes to safety it forces all other manufacturers to follow suit which is good for all of us. Thank you BMW, Tesla, ect for your engineering it has saved my life and my wife's we wouldn't be alive if it weren't for these thoughtful people I'm so grateful forever.......❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
We were driving in a BMW convertible from the 90s about four years ago when we swerved to miss a deer and hit a patch of ice, spun, tail end hit a tree, we flipped six times down a steep embankment(and all that grew and sat upon it). I ended up in the drivers side and the driver on my side because we weren't wearing seatbelts and our son was hanging upside down, strapped in tight to his car seat. Cell was dead, it was the middle of the night in the country. We ended up walking out of that crash and four or so miles back to where we came from, not given a choice and wanting to get our son out if the cold. I had a sprained back (and very, very cold feet from walking because I had taken my shoes off in the car and couldn't find them afterwards), he had two cracked ribs, and our son didn't have a scratch. We were shook up and high on adrenaline, though I'd say that was the worst of it and I feel very humbled that that was the actual worst of it. We were all very silent and in a daze, but alive.
Not having a seatbelt on in this crazy instance saved our (the adults) lives because the roof caved in where are heads would have been . And it is also lucky it was winter because we almost always drive with the top down when it was warm.
The cops told us they can't believe we walked out of the wreck in good condition. They said a wreck like that should have killed us. 90s BMWs are safe and reliable in my opinion! Thank you BMW. So many people are not as fortunate as we were that night.
Wow cool rollover crash test at like 10 miles an hour
lol I always think this too. we all regularly travel 70+ on freeways so why does the traffic safety board think it's okay to give a 5 star rating on a 30mph test......
+Jeffery Antioquia Well first off regardless of the strength of the vehicle, the g forces while wearing a shoulder belt could kill you. The shoulder belt isn't really meant for those speeds (and most people aren't going to take the time to buckle up in a 5 point harness). Second, it would make sense that you would it the brakes before you crash thus slowing you down a bit.
+Iamspiderboy well I agree but being as "proactive" with safety as nhtsa is. you would think 30mph testing wouldn't cut it.. and realistically I don't see you bleeding 40mph when you jam the brakes just before impact.(assuming you even react fast enough for it)
+Iamspiderboy well I agree but being as "proactive" with safety as nhtsa is. you would think 30mph testing wouldn't cut it.. and realistically I don't see you bleeding 40mph when you jam the brakes just before impact.(assuming you even react fast enough for it)
You know them soccer mums only drive about maximum speed! Jimmy we are going to be late to soccer practice!
That wasn't a roll over. All it looked like was a BMW falling over.
LOL, agreed.... It fall over and can't get up.
ps4 have better graphics
+carmelo romano Totally irrelevant. Also the new PS4 Pro came out yay. look it up.
Sum_Dätti702 my ps4 have better graphics than the pro
guys rrrrr=wooosh
I’m glad the do the #2 test _”sideways into sand”_ as I was the passenger in a 1986 VW Wolfsburg Cabriolet convertible that hit the sand perfectly sideways, albeit backwards and with *_way_* more speed... we rolled 5.5x !!!
2:58 BMW X6 Costs more than 62,000$ and Safety guy is using a 10$ camera from a backyard sale.
Msrp is 60 grand, but the cost to BMW is less than 30 grand.
I like how they make it seem like BMW is the only one doing it and that its not required.... it basically is required because if they didn't test roof strength and make it strong the IIHS would be all over it making consumers aware of its poor roof strength then sales would go way down.
Seth Bruns There is a fairly significant difference between simply dropping a car on its roof and having it rollover.
BMW is not the only company doing this lol
Doc The IIHS crushes the roofs of all passenger vehicles with x4 the vehicles weight to see how well it holds up. If it doesn’t, the automaker catches a lot of flack.
2:50 Indicators? Must be fake.
Some cars do that automatically after a crash as a warning to others. They also apply the brake so the car doesn't continue to drive as well.
+Peter Gilbert The joke flew right over your head m8. Still thanks for explaining.
I understood the joke and thought it was hilarious.
+Ricky Spanish Ikr. Omg haha
no m9 thats probably the top of the range model which has the optional indicators
I can confirm BMW saved my life.
I was in an "rollover" in an X3.
exactly the same happened.
it didn't rollover on the roof and stay on the side and then landed on 4 flats.
Thank you BMW.
what the speed was like ? 20mph?
So.. when other cars roll over do they also always land on sand? And is it always at 10mph?
where is his safety helmet on the last rollover
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW this video made me fall asleep and I don't sleep during the day
Rainer, das ist ja ein super kleines Bärtchen!
Automatic turn signals would be a great feature in BMW's... Not for the drive of the BMW but for other drivers on the same road as a BMW
What about a swerve induced rollover in a car going at a high speed?
They should do a turning indicator test to see if they actually work
I am glad BMW does these extra test. I think it helps.
I still don't want a BMW though. They don't build anything I would be able to use.
Not even a nice beefy M3? All drivers have a use for those things.
rather have an ATS-V. a true performance vehicle.
MrSupercar55
Nope, not even an M3. I have a bad habit of turning off the road to venture down new trails the moment I see one even if I'm in the wrong vehicle for it. Even my MX5 has hit some mild trails... Something in my brain must find out where every trail leads which is why I have to own vehicles that are cheap to repair/maintain.
+JeepCollector91 hahaha even in your thumbnail your going down a trail! lol
+JeepCollector91 That must be a little boring no? No beef in a car must get to you at some point
I love my 2006x5 shes old but solid as a rock
You simply can't beat the Germans in terms of overall car excellence, and within that sector, BMW still rules....and the greatest BMW of all time is the 3-series. Think of how long it has been the gold standard of its class.
DoctorBohr toyota deserves the respect they get. Vast majority of the families, which is their target market, don't give a flying fuck about aesthetics, luxury, 'art factor' or speed. They want an economical, safe and reliable workhorse and that's precisely what toyota makes. They do what they say on the tin for years without any fuss which is a clear win in my book. This is coming from a guy whose greater family has 3 BMWs, one subaru and one toyota.
DoctorBohr "For how much longer can people keep saying this?" - as long as this remains a fact and vast majority of the aforementioned target group exist. It is an ongoing process. More families are being created, more children, demand for more no-nonsense cars keep coming so toyota keeps producing. It's not like they are forcing people to buy their cars, people are voluntarily doing so.
DoctorBohr I chimed in because I thought your sarcasm was funny. Anyway, my daily is an E38 and it's one of the most majestic cars ever. They never managed to make another 7 like the 38 (or the big daddy 32 which is quite a machine by itself). Mine's a major pain to maintain. I had to service this guy 3 times in past 2 months alone. But I still use it because I love it so much. Don't think I'm one of those fanatic toyota fanboys who blindly hates everything. But I definitely acknowledge the benefits of toyotas and highly admire them.
+Dean White There's this thing called a Tesla...
+Dean White BULLSHIT - I own a Volvo S60R & a Mercedes SL550 (under warranty) - I will take a VOLVO for safety, reliability & durability ANY DAY. My Mercedes is at the dealer again having control arms replaced and is only 6 years old. The alternator has been rebuilt, fusebox & wiring harnelss replaced, ALL engine and transmission mounts in the last year under warranty.
There's such little rear headroom the dummy head hit the roff, not the airbag
Have you guys and galss have you testid a rolover crashtest for a vally
Thank God the blinker fluid didn't leak out.
So is the bmw suv no longer the most dangerous vehicle?
I'm sorry but i have to ask is the button that starts this crash test labeled
"DO A BARREL ROLL"
By any chance???????????????
Not a single image (I lasted till 2:02) of the car crashing or after the crash? Just the setups? Something to hide?
Great job BMW as always👑👍
And yet they still don't put in blinker fluid 😩
Ok, you convinced me, gonna buy BMW
LOVE BMW SO
Black X6: Phantom.
Red X6: Look like a tampon.
Going out like I'm Montana.
Hunnit killas, hunnit hammers
so they're testing the airbags on the side?
i thought they were trying to make a cars that won't roll
that 2000's digital camera though
"...the engineers continuous development of advanced new systems."
Shows outdated digital camera
WOW...(owen wilson voice)
What about the X1? Are we also protected?
Is this really BMW? You can see towards the end that the indicators are functioning!
lmao
Waw, is this bmw like any ather bmw ? i have 5 series bmw for daily use, is this hase same sefty facility?
5 series is safer because of its lower center of gravity when compared to x6
Ok, and what if new vehicle failed to pass safety test? It will be redesigned from scratch?
I like the funny translator. XD
XKR1200 "Sis ist se Frontell Impeckt" :D
Ditches usually have dirt not a flat floor though
You seen the tesla rollover test right?
Where is this facility?
is the rollover crash test?
How about if they work on reliability
You only hear about people complaining about their cars, not really of how good they are, and yes say 10 out of 1000 toyotas have problems but 100 out of 1000 BMW's have problems , that's a huge difference, it's about how much you have to pay to keep it on the road, But the way a BMW drives and it's actually a status symbol pays off, no one ever says "WOW YOU DRIVE A TOYOTA/HONDA/NISSAN"
What a dumb response ^ It's ok to make a shitty car because it's a status symbol?! There's status symbols that are reliable. Cadillac and Lexus, for example.
+UnitedRecording LMAF you think Cadillacs and Lexus are a status symbol?? You know nothing about luxury, there just a Chevy and a Toyota with a ton of options, and only Toyota is reliable, American cars a places of shit, but I can't blame them because that's how they were engineered. ,
You're wrong. BMW and Mercedes are also related to other brands. It's one specific division focused on one thing. American vehicles currently hold the highest reliability ratings worldwide.
You just have the common stereotype grilled into your brain, and most people would say the same thing. But it's not true, do some research.
bmw nya masih ready gan?
low speeds?
they could do this for sure since 1930 but it's all about commercial and marketing considerations
THAT high end Camera he uses for the documentation....ahahaha like 100 Euro at that time 2012
*BUT* is the car ok
it just 20 km what would u expect???
kids in africa could have this bmw x6
They could have used it to drive to a McDonald's
+Leon Kernan or water
exactly
shut the fuck up
Herbert Granger as normal we have the people hating in the comment section!
Amazing..................😎
Just saying that in the U.S. we do a thing called the moose test which is basically a step before this where a vehicle is doing anywhere near 40 mph and has to swerve out of the way to avoid an obstacle such as a moose or animal and this is basically what they did but they did it differently
Shit this is from 2012
Bei dem "soft" überschlag würde beim Tata Nano auch nix passieren ! Wie wärs mit realistischere Bedingungen ?
So unsattisfying 😶
Waiting for so long only to see it TAP the roof... I was expecting something big lol
my mom have a BMW X1 and I want to get a BMW X1 2016 do the same thing
A BMW crashed in mexico a years ago and it ended pretty bad
Das ist ja interessant
Blocked blinkers, of course it has covered blinkers, its a bmw. For the x6.
Can anybody Please Fire the tranlater of BMW
Why use sand?
does this car come with indicators?
No
For 3 easy payments of $399.95 ; P
Igor Boss yes at 2:50 but all cars do come with indicators because it's the law
but not bmw's😂😂
Mantap nih mobil aman bener. BMW sangat memperhatikam sekali. Two thumps up dude
Interesting - shall we say - that this video NEVER shows the aftermath of any of the rollovers. The sole event that is shown is the least-destructive one at the end, where the car tips over fairly gently onto its side, and stays there.
What i dont understand is why have sensors that go off as your getting hit if you KNOW that your getting hit anyway😂😂
deja vu ive just been in this place before
They see mee rollin'
test e30 please
I cried after watching this
-And what do you do for a living?
-I crash bmws.
You want to see a REAL rollover crash test?

Scroll to 1:29 and enjoy how the best and safest SUV reacts in a rollover test that no other manufacturer dares to subject its SUVs...
apart from Hummer I think der is no car can stay strong wen accident occurres , wt ever dey build strong steel it doesn't work out after 120 kilometers , dat too if we hit d divider means 100 kms is Enough to smash ....
Nothing is safer than driver awareness. Just keep your eyes on the road and dont text and drive.
If it can't rollover then you know how good it is
What a fucking awesome job
The guy worth the funny voice sounds like the f1 driver from talladega knights
I think it should be a requirement to conduct roll over crashes. They can be some of the most savage, fatal crashes
Great!
2:50 is that the camera they use? wow.
i love BMW
Как я купил X6M
Ага
nice
It proves stamina of bmw
My sister hit a telephone pole and her BMW rolled over and she survived, still needed surgery on her arm but she survived, her tire blew out.
I thought that was lightning in the thumbnail
Awsome.
atleast they dont need blinker fluids
They do those additional tests because they know their customers..
Look at XC 90 II Volvo
