  • This video shows some of my favorite sneaky arm locks that tend to surprise people from time to time. These are either unconventional or difficult to defend even when they see they are being set up. I included several positions, even though nearly every position has multiple ones that would fit this theme.
    Included among these are:
    S-Mount Double Attack
    Kesa Double Arm Lock
Head Hook Arm Lock from Guard
    Dead Orchard from Rubber Guard
    Rolling Arm Lock from Turtle
Overhook Arm Lock from Back Mount
Let me know some of your favorite sneak attacks in the comments.

As I’ve said many times. Thanks so much for the quick and technical videos. I like the ones from side control as that’s my strongest position. And from scarf fold. Which is what I’m improving now.

Really really sneaky way to get arm luck man. Loved it . My coach all the time gets me with Ude Gatame from his guard is another one that you wouldn’t expect it coming. Can you please make a video explaining different ways to avoid being trap in that position.

From turtle the leg on the inside, the one used as the first hook, needs to have the foot hook the far hip; the reason is when you go over for the armlock the person person defending can work to slide you off of them and that helps secures a stronger connection. Another thing is when the leg is coming over their back post on your head, this heads with stability in not falling off of them when they are trying to get you off. Otherwise good technique, one of my favorites I like to pull out when things aren't going my way ir I want to mix things up

Someday I'd love an instructor to be real with me and is willing. I'm not kidding I was kicked off my kungfu group because I asked too much, provided unexpected scenarios, and I "crossed my arms too much while listening". It sounds absurd, and it is. As a young woman I EXPECT my sifu or master to be clear, instructive, and willing to practice and explain weight imbalance and give me good instructions. I expect masters to jump on providing women with technique. I went to Kung fu in salmon creek, wa. Needless to say they have shut down.

I think that instructors treating students like kids, being unable or unwilling to answer questions, and making other ridiculous demands like you described them doing is unacceptable. I’m sorry you’ve had those experiences and I truly hope you can find better instructors. They’re out there, I promise.

0% of this works if the person can punch, kick, shoot, or stab you. Why are average people training impractical shit? You’re not gonna be fighting in a controlled setting if you’re a banker, for instance,m. Eliminate 75-90% of all your BJJ “techniques” and focus on wrist control with wrestling/judo takedowns...the rest is for controlled rules environments. A gang banger will simply stab you to death, shoot you, or his friend will soccer kick your head. Better to learn a clean left hook with a slip and a series of trust control/trip/judo throws. Let the concrete end your fights
