Classic G-Body Garage y'all still have it
What's the asking price for it
Classic G-Body Garage do you have any 2bb Quadrajet carburetor for a 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Brougham for sale or can you re build one for me
Smile on my face watching your video, guy across the street from us brought one just like that one new. I was 12
Great cars. A good friend of mine had a 1979 with a 260 and we swapped out the engine for a 403, tons of fun. He put 442 on the side but we all knew it was fake but no one cared it was cool.
In 1986, I bought a 46 Chrysler coup for one dollar. It had been sitting in the garage since the elderly owner died, about 20+ yrs. We did the same thing ant it started up. We drove it home. It had about 200 original miles on it, it was all there including the chrome, but one corner of the headliner had come loose. It was a great find.
Really nice find there! Certainly needs some work to be great, but still -- excellent condition for having sat in a barn for 17 years. My first car was a '76 Cutlass S (I was the 2nd owner) so I've always had a soft spot for these Cutlasses.
Very cool dude. 350/4spd straight outta the 70s. Very nice.
My first car was a '79 Supreme with a 305 with a wiped cam lobe on cyl 7. Ran like shit and backfired out the carb occasionally but I loved that car. Had a '78 after that with a worked over 400 Pontiac, and got an '88 Cutlass Supreme Classic Brougham stored now.
Amazing after 17 years its runs that good..... no smoke or nothing!
Lucky dogs. 25 yrs ago I had a 78 Monte Carlo. Loved that car.
Still plenty out there.
Hey fellas. Nice find.
The two tubes that stick up vertically and are cut at an angle on that Holley are the bowl vents. You can pour fuel into them to fill the bowls.
Don't bother filling the secondary if you're just lighting it.
Nice work. That's a super rare car with the 4 speed and the factory gauge package. Still a low performance smog car when new, but rare anyhow. I'm not a fan of Holley carburetors but it looks like that small block Chevy has been warmed over a little bit even though it has stock exhaust manifolds on it. A a properly set up QuadraJet carburetor would be a much better match for that engine.
this is the stuff I really love to see and do great find guys
I am still working on this car. Hope to have it on the road in 2017
that's a small block Chevy and the rocket motors were awesome torque monsters in my opinion I had several cutlasses that were bad ass
ya its a cam sounds great good find I like it!
I like these old G bodies! I had a 79' Monte Carlo which I regret selling and a 1980 Regal. If either car was a 4 speed I would still own them.
I had a 77 Cutlass with the little 260 V8. Sweet car.....
fyi, you can fill up that float bowl by puting gas in the vent tube, the little diagonal tube stickin up at the front
YES! Have you ever seen one of these YT "first start after seven centuries" videos where the "mechanic" knows that basic carburetor fact, and the other one, "Close the choke!"?
Thanks for watching and posting. The old Monza is a cool car.
That's not a 350 olds rocket it's a sbc
Great shape that Cutlass is man.
I love these older Oldsmobiles! my dad used to have a 1982 Cutlass Supreme. He sold it after it blew a head gasket and the automatic transmission started slipping. He could not afford to fix it.
Did you lubercate the piston rings with trans fluid or oil through the spark plug holes?
Colton Danforth that's what I did on mine. 15 years sitting but it runs great now.
Colton Danforth I always do the same
Colton Danforth how do you lubercate?
@@demetri1651 Just pour little bit of oil inside the spark plug hole.
I’d clean it up and fix what needs fixed plus get the motor roaring with flow master 10’s at the tips of the exhaust and make it my daily driver !!!
Thanks man and thanks for subscribing!
I had a 79 Cutlass with a 4-speed and I didn't think I'd ever see another one.
These guys don’t know too much about starting a car. It’s a miracle it started.
I know nothing at all. Check my other videos and I will prove it to you.
Amazing Find thanks for making a video on getting it started.
Hey there, Very cool that you got it running and glad you like my videos. I do not have a diagram for a Toyota alternator however I would just suggest to replace the alternator instead of rewire.
This has a lot of nice options. Had to be a joy to find this one!
It certainly was. I still own it. Will do more vids on it this year.
Love the 1979-81 Olds Cutlass
well thank god the dome light works! LOL
Yeah I was worried! If it didn't come, scrap it LOL
LOL
Classic G-Body Garage noo don't scrap it hard to find put on eBay or craiglist
One of my fav 70s body styles!
i use to have a 81 cutlas back like 7 years ago with the 4.7 or the 4.3 cant remember but it was one hell of a car. i paid an old lady $75. for the old car. it had the big 4 barrel carb. man i was eating up the comeros all day with that car. i miss it but not the gas miles.
that air breather takes me back
oh and my late grandfather had a 1991 Olds 442, and my dad also had a 1990 Calais.
17 years is not even alot. I had a 1975 cutlass supreme that was giving to me when i was 10 my dad never moved it then i bought a 75 salon and used the supreme for parts..25 years & it started...lol ur good.
C'mon, I want to know more about that dome light! That thing is MINT!
Dan Michale you can have your own here.... www.ebay.com/b/Interior-Lights-for-1978-Oldsmobile-Cutlass/33712/bn_94059573
Nice find man had a 78 cutlass myself but not the 4 speed had a turbo 400 I think but I bought it from a guy in 2000 and it hadn't run for 10 years. changed the fluids did a flush primed the fuel pump and and 3 bumps of the key it was alive drove it for 5 years 2 of which were the same plugs....lol. I bought it for 300 bucks guy thought it was worthless I sold it 6 years later for 3000. when found it had 65000 on the odometer. same color too
When i. was a kid I had a buick grand national best car
I ever had
David Salny them 3.8’s are quick turbo’d or not
Dave Micolichek you ever owned anything with a n/a 3.8?
Dave Micolichek then everything down here must be slow as hell cause my 91 lasabre would keep up with everything down here if it wasn’t beating it
This gives me hope for my grandfathers 1977 Alfa Romeo GTV
that car is very hard to find with them options, good job.
haydave420
That thing is pretty nice sounds like it's got a little miss but it runs smooth and quiet notb a single noise from it and that's amazing
there is float bowls that u can fill until it picks up the gas from the back of the tank and then it will run but those will help keeping it running long enough to suck fuel to the carb
and yes, we had the fire extiguisher next to the car too
Pour gas down through the angled vent tubes...they go to the float chamber...you'll be able to get the accelerator pump working provided the O rings don't leak.
Yeah i figured that out after the video.
Nice start of a good project! Looks like the Holley “sreadbore” replacement carb. They were OK double-pump carbs for those faint in tuning a Quadrajet properly. Looks like that thing has 2.41 or 2.73 gears in the rear though :o
2:73
That baby is pretty clean. Nice base for an LSX project.
I was waiting for some of that hood insulation to fall into the carb.
throw a dome light from a newer car like early 90s. same holes. i think the square ones look better vato. go to your neighbors house with the classic car junk yard and come up on some dome lights
Nice! Love the car. Love these old barn finds. You need to post up some more vids of your car.
And I'm sure the owner is kicking himself somewhere saying "I knew I should of kept this rare to extinct fisher body" I enjoy rewatching this video lol cheers G Body!
I appreciate that!
THAT MOTOR IT RUN SWEET MAN GOOD JOB BRO
holley 6210's are a dime a dozen!
Oldsmobiles are immortal!
Gotta do this with my 1981 Cutlass Supreme soon.
Incredible that any car that's been in an automotive coma that long was so eager to fire up. All machines develop personality over time, and you could almost hear this old workhorse telling them "You want to get me on the road again? Just give me a minute, and I'll be ready for the trailer."
It will be on the road this summer. It has been way too long! Near 20 years.
There were 3 engine options for that car... only one was an Olds engine! 231 Buick V6, 260 olds V8 and the power option was a Chevy 305 with a 4 barrel. The Olds 260 was rated at a screaming 105
The frame rusted out on mine in just 10 years... sold it in '89.
Everything is for sale for the right price, make an offer. Factory moonroof with 4 speed makes it a one of a kind car.
I bought a 69 roadrunner 440 started first time 27 years, the carb wasn't even attached. I paid 2k for it. when it was down it was sweet sometimes you get lucky
Nice astroroof and 4 speed option combo!
Nice find man I was not surprised when that SBC fired right up, I did the same with a firebird that sat for 14 years. I was looking at all the comments about it having the wrong engine, people just don't know about these cars. I get a lot of crap for having a sbc in my car but that is what it came with. I found the original build sheet for my car which was cool. Do any of your cars have the factory aluminium hood?
Nice love the old cars
I would check your choke pull off first to see if it holds vacuum. That would be the easiest start. Just disconnect the vac line, push it down and hold your thumb over it and it should stay down until you release your thumb. I am not sure what it costs to have a carb rebuilt because I rebuild my own so never quoted one out. You will have to do a little research yourself on that.
The 4 speed makes that one cool ride. It's the first time I've seen one in an Olds that new.
ask Chris fix to help you
Chris Fix is a great guy. Would love for us to vids together.
PUPPYMAN minecraft you would be holding him back ! Chris Fix is the man
Crazy Eights what
Classic G-Body Garage ok
true
I got an 80 cut. Still n the works but she my first car I bought.
nice
I have never seen a G body with a manual before. This thing is one of a kind! Must worth some money.
opjoipopikopp[pl[p[ it also has a Chevy small block. Probably not original
'77 was the last year an Olds engine came stock in an A body. '78 is when GM started playing musical engines. '78 Olds A body had the SBC. Mid size Cadillacs had the Olds engine. Pontiac engines ceased production totally. In the mid 80's Full size RWD Cadillacs had Olds engines and then in 90 they had SBC. Olds ceased production of V8's around that time.
David Collis I had a 78 cutlass with an Oldsmobile engine....
Maybe it was '79. I didn't say an Olds engine wasn't offered. It was on or about the last year they came stock with an Olds engine. You could also get a V6 which I wouldn't want. I used to work on all those old cars, which weren't old back then. Thanks.
mine was a 260 v8. my friend had a 79 with an olds 350.
Man swap in a mild 455 olds and change the bell housing on the 4spd to accept the BOP bolt pattern and man ol man what a tire frier you would have!!!
Oldsmobile man they were built tough back then. hope you changed the air filter and poured in some carb cleaner. ( that's petty much all I know )
That sounds ferocious!
looks like a 650 holly, they put those on alot of mustangs
wow! awesome throwback!
yes that is either 350 or a 305 Chevy motor Chevy small block 350 rocket would be a Oldsmobile motor and I've worked on many of those that is definitely not a 350 rocket that is a small block Chevy which is still a good motor
Back in the late 70's GM started putting SBC engines in Oldsmobiles. They were attempting to save money by not having two distinct engines they would have to support. Unfortunately, they never told the public. One guy who thought he had an Olds with an Olds engine sued GM for false advertising. Oldsmobiles were sold under the marketing banner of "Olds Rocket V8" and other assorted names. GM lost the suit and were forced to tell all buyers of Oldsmobiles what kind of engine they had. They also got an extended warranty.
I have a 1978 Olds cutlass supreme it's been stored in my old building since 1995 it hasn't seen the light of day since we drove it into the building and parked it.
get it out
don't forget your Zinc additive to the oil if you are not using synthetic oil in that car.
Good to know and will do.
Once all that bad gas cycle through it should run fine with a tune up
Hell of an oldie car :)
I will and thanks for watching!
I wouldn't get rid of the holley I would get a rebuild kit and rebuild it. Saves a lot of money and works like a brand new carb if done right
i had a 66. 442 conv. Olds. And it was 20 below zero out. Nobodies car would start. But my Olds fired right up! I would love to get another one but, everyone wants a million dollars for them.
Great video It runs really nice for sitting that long!! I knew it would fire up but i figured there would be a lot of engine noise! Awesome score its a cool car!
Thanks Ricky. It is a very cool car.
my mother had a '72 four door cutlass. i believe it had a 350 rocket v8 in it.
Hey, did I not see a '77 Cutlass to the left as your buddy was filming? I've owned mine for almost 26 years. Always looking for other 70's Cutlass enthusiasts...
i miss mine, i had the 4 speed but no moon roof
Please restore it original because it deserves it after sitting all those years then post the finished product on UA-cam.
Thanks
wow nice. looks like a nice car to fix up and drive.
I agree holleys are for racing! Good old quads fro street driving!
A fair amount of dust flew off this when that fan started aahaha
I love your tools
Wow 😮 she looks to be a beauty, a four speed at that !!! Need a better look at the body !!! 👍👍👍
2 of my cars have the factory aluminum hood. My Black Calais I put the 403 in and my other 4 speed 78 Cutlass. I also have a few spare aluminum hoods.
Once you got it running its trying to heal itself. Just changing all the fluids, tighting loose bolts and driving it awhile will take out some of the kinks. Its a sleeper for sure.
&Thts A 1978 Cutlass Supreme & I Can Tell By The Head-Lights Eses.... =-O
I know your not a bow tie guy.. but ive worked for GM for a bit.. if you want to indentify it .. it should be located on the rear of the block .. left side.. booster side on the flange, where the trans bolts up if its a 305 the number is 10066098 and a 350 is 101051123.. but i agree with you its probably a 305.. just in case you wanted to know.. take care.. :)
bring on the one tire fire lol lol lol great to see her up and running and well moving too lol
Straight cutlass g body nice find cool video
Thanks!
I will check it out but want to continue using my intro and exit which I can't do on here. I will check out the link you sent me for Movie Maker. Thanks again.
sounds good brother
see those vent tubes? thats where you would want to fill the float bowls at!
