My experience buying watches has always been... me explaining to the salesman about the watch I want, them flipping through a book because they've never heard of what I'm looking for, etc. etc. and I'm not looking for anything rare, I'd ask them to see their Seiko Presage line, for example, and they look at me like I'm looking for the Holy Grail. How refreshing it must be to have Teddy take you to the store and explain everything.
There’s a reason for that, it’s because an overwhelming majority of people don’t have a foundational understanding of watches like movements and the different types and the benefits of each, nor do they have any knowledge of brand history and their differentiating features, they simply want a piece of aesthetic jewellery that will signal their status. Which is why rolex got so much more popular when they adopted the Hermes sales model despite it being the same watch it’s always been. So now when they train sales people they train them with this in mind. Only people who actually appreciate the intricacies of watches opt for grand seiko.
Also the cherry blossom is pure 🔥 with the all black look. Fantastic choice. Watch choice can really change a whole aesthetic just like shoes. That's why we all need 12 daily drivers
@@NinjaNovicehonestly it looked rad there jangling away with all the other stuff - no rules man love it! Let that luxury watch get beaten up! That’s how Rolexes are treated worldwide, a majority of Wall Street day dates were dipped in lobster butter or other crap all day long.

When worlds collide. This episode was awesome, probably one of my favorites. I don’t think it’s said often enough how truly encyclopedic Teddy is, able to pull out specs and facts off the cuff for such a wide range of watches. Not just those he stocks or sells, but from different corners of the market and periods of history.
This was great to watch. Not only is Tom obviously very funny, but he's someone that loves to learn about the pieces; which translates very well for the audience who also may not know the history. It's infinitely more fun watching someone who loves watches and pursues what they truly enjoy and not what's trendy, or what's rare, or what's going to retain its value over time.

Gotta admire Teddy's rise to success. Genuine passion. How many watch UA-camrs are also just grey market shillers propping up hype pieces. Yeah, Teddy hypes what he sells, but he's hyping up Seiko 5s and Longines and stuff he actually stands behind. And to go from UA-cam to a true brick and mortar AD, now offering hunble Seiko, Tissot, Citizen, and now Blancpain? That's true passion for the hobby and love of it all. Doing things the right way. Cheers to that.
