My experience buying watches has always been... me explaining to the salesman about the watch I want, them flipping through a book because they've never heard of what I'm looking for, etc. etc. and I'm not looking for anything rare, I'd ask them to see their Seiko Presage line, for example, and they look at me like I'm looking for the Holy Grail. How refreshing it must be to have Teddy take you to the store and explain everything.
There’s a reason for that, it’s because an overwhelming majority of people don’t have a foundational understanding of watches like movements and the different types and the benefits of each, nor do they have any knowledge of brand history and their differentiating features, they simply want a piece of aesthetic jewellery that will signal their status. Which is why rolex got so much more popular when they adopted the Hermes sales model despite it being the same watch it’s always been. So now when they train sales people they train them with this in mind. Only people who actually appreciate the intricacies of watches opt for grand seiko.
Wow, Teddy is such a skilled interviewer. He leads the conversation but doesn't overshadow to interviewee with his own stories, he gives room to breathe and allows for changes in direction. Such a great episode!
Please have more comedians on. It took the stuffy nature of watch buying and made it genuinely fun. Just because something is expensive doesn’t mean it has to be uptight. This was an absolute home run. I watched the video from end to end and was thoroughly entertained the entire time. (And now I need a Grand Seiko.)
Ive never seen a single joke Tom made that was even remotely funny. Only funny thing hes been apart of is when Theo Von called him out for having separate beds from his wife and he got all pissy and defensive
Went to Japan first week of September and omg the multi level store in ginza was amazing. I got 3 watches it was a dream. A seiko automatic with Japanese letters. A king seiko & a grand seiko heritage the snowflake. Amazing experience. I got the seiko automatic at a don quijote king seiko at its ginza store & believe it or not the grand seiko at haneda airport at a small display of watches while I was waiting to board. Can’t wait to go back. Oh btw also all tax free!
Also the cherry blossom is pure 🔥 with the all black look. Fantastic choice. Watch choice can really change a whole aesthetic just like shoes. That's why we all need 12 daily drivers
My boss did the same for me, not at a store, and it was really lovely to see this and be reminded. We should all be so lucky to be able to gift a watch or deserve to be gifted watch by someone you care about. Also, Cherry Blossom is a proper thoughtful choice.
When worlds collide. This episode was awesome, probably one of my favorites. I don’t think it’s said often enough how truly encyclopedic Teddy is, able to pull out specs and facts off the cuff for such a wide range of watches. Not just those he stocks or sells, but from different corners of the market and periods of history.
This was great to watch. Not only is Tom obviously very funny, but he's someone that loves to learn about the pieces; which translates very well for the audience who also may not know the history. It's infinitely more fun watching someone who loves watches and pursues what they truly enjoy and not what's trendy, or what's rare, or what's going to retain its value over time.
A colleague of mine and fellow watch guy started a channel on our work platform where he included other watch guys. They started posting and I immediately said "This is a real problem". We're all so f**ked .
Honestly one of the best videos this channel has produced! I really appreciate your team's dedication to always improving the content. Can't wait to visit the store to make a purchase of my own!
You know I'm so happy for Teddy. I was watching his channel from Japan back in the 2018-ish period - he was doing a much more lower budget channel about Watches, Fashion, Lifestyle. Had his gf Courtney at the time help out the channel with views. Was a thin, slightly dorky type, but he was like the "top gear" of watches - not to geeky, just about accessible for beginners, in a presentable, chic production. He then had his first stint at Baselworld, then his big jump to VC headquarters, and now he owns a watch dealer in NYC. Seeing his progression has been so heartful man - congrats, and good luck!
These "watch shopping with" videos are awesome, really enjoy watching the guests go through their process of deciding what they like and being guided through it all. Also super smart to promote the store at the same time. These feel like they could become the "hot ones" of the watch genre! We need more!
Teddy's gonna have the watch version of sneaker shopping and I'm all for it. Already excited to see the big hitters in the future like Ed Sheeran and John Mayer, and understated collectors like Ronnie Chieng and Daniel Dae Kim!
This was fantastic. Great to see the everyday side of Tom and hear Teddy talk about each watch. Then the gift at the end for his tour manager was awesome.
To me, it's always brilliant to watch someone talk with so much passion about something they love, I'm glad Tom was excited to hear Teddy explain each watch/company
What an incredible gesture by Tom to gift his touring manager a Grand Seiko, It's so thoughtful that he thinks about elevating those around him. It really shows the character in the best way possible and the type of man he is! God bless this man, I hope he keeps on having tremendous amounts of success and health in perpetuity!
Best episode yet. As soon as his manager slipped the GS on it was perfection. Looked immediately incredible on him. It was bought by a pro with love. And you could see on his face how touched he was with the gift.
The speedy super racing is so sick. Teddy is the best salesman for watch nerds. He gives the details that get overlooked and truly makes the experience special.
I may be poor and small-wristed, but I'm a collector at heart and I love watches! I felt so much pride when I got my first (Seiko Presage) at auction for ~200$. Not the most magnificent but can see the movement through the exhibition back. Can't wait for the next find!
This is awesome! I love it. This is the colab I didn’t know I wanted or needed. I’m a huge Tom fan and a huge Teddy fan. I would love to see more stuff like this. The more fun laid-back side of watch collecting.
Gotta admire Teddy's rise to success. Genuine passion. How many watch UA-camrs are also just grey market shillers propping up hype pieces. Yeah, Teddy hypes what he sells, but he's hyping up Seiko 5s and Longines and stuff he actually stands behind. And to go from UA-cam to a true brick and mortar AD, now offering hunble Seiko, Tissot, Citizen, and now Blancpain? That's true passion for the hobby and love of it all. Doing things the right way. Cheers to that.
Nice selection by Tom Segura he has great taste and definitely knows his watches, wonderful gesture gifting his tour. Manager the GS , also his description of his floor Manager right on the money , very cool and laid back 😂

I was put off my similar shopping with Kevin O'Leary, which I consder as antithesis of a watch enhusiast (just pure ignorance arogance and show off) Happy that Teddy invites other guest and contunues this journey. Another great video Teddy & Team! Here's a Q&A question I'd love your take on. If you were to pick a relatively unknown watch to make famous as a result of your fame, which one would you choose? Like how Steve McQueen elevated the Tag Heuer Monaco-what would be your choice?
"How am I going to know the time in Auckland if I don't get this" - who new comedian + watch buying could be such a brilliant combo. So much better than some of the other "regulars" on here ;)
Pretty good point about photos vs seeing in person..I finally got to see a bunch of grand seikos in person, and the colors and dials are amazing. Great choices at the end

Not a poor here. Appreciative of this content because it’s relatable to me and informative. Of course Tom is so god damn entertaining and we have heard so much about his watch affinity. I enjoy this video a bunch.
All I can say to Tom is, maybe it's just a thing we say here in Scotland but, I wish you health to wear these. You've brought many people some joy with your work so you deserve a wee reward. And getting your manager that stoater was a nice thing to do
