I picked up a few of them about 7 years ago when I was visiting north Carolina. They work fantastically as long as it's not an all rock bank. I'm probably one of the only folks in upstate NY with those types of holders.

It's not a chop saw , well it's not a wood chop saw , it's called a cold cut saw , it turns less RPMs and it's made to cut steel it cuts it so fast with zero sparks that it doesn't heat up the metal , you can grab the metal as soon as your done cutting and its not hot . Wish I could buy this same exact type somewhere, but with adjustable angle for the top portion, and a foot bar (with angled support member) for stomping into the ground. I've been looking for years. I eventually found/bought one on eBay. The seller had bought it from a random estate sale, so no origin story and no hope for me buying more. Later my research lead me to bribe a distant tackle shop into sending me three of their custom version, but their metal stock was all round and comparatively thin and flimsy. Those cheapo ones wobble a lot, plus no foot bar was included. ...plus there's no hint of crucial upward radius in the reel cradle behind the reel. Just precarious flatness behind the reel. (If the rod gets heavily yanked forward, then naturally rebounds backwards in the wobbly stand, the rod could then slide backwards completely off the stand.) The nice one I bought from eBay has a touch of crucial upturn in the cradle behind the reel, so my Abu Garcia C4 reel stays truly cradled and secure. It so happens on both purchase occasions, the holder(s) I bought were shipped from North Carolina. I've come to understand they're common there, yet apparently nearly impossible to locate for sale by outsiders like me in Indiana. I've still never seen this kind of stand in use anywhere by anyone but me in my state. Completely common in North Carolina, completely unknown in Indiana. My quest will continue until I have 6 of the good kind. 3 for me, 3 for whoever comes fishing with me.
Obviously I can't fabricate stuff, or I'd follow these excellent instructions.

I received my first set of these reel cup rodholders (that's what we called em ) 32 years ago when I was 18 and they were old and wore out when I hit em lol . They been around a long time . Even before bas shack started selling em . I bought lots of from there but they sell em every where in NC my first set was sold stock , the square tubing is a lot lighter . I've owned about probably 25 too 30 of these stands but I like the one i made in this DIY the best . Most ppl bend the cups i used a pipe and made them about 3/4 off an inch wide moist the ones you buy have thin cups on em
