I love the fact he made this complicated video to help people and someone comments 'he would win a staring contest'

More people needs to speak about these situations I'm a BTEC student and some people laugh when i tell them.
exactly, when i tell people im going college i get mocked but they don't realise im either going to the same or better uni than them with half the effort.
I know what you mean, my brother does a levels and most of my friends too and they always say it’s easier however they’re equal. Especially as I do business level 3
Welp BTECs are easier than A-level
Imane Pink ur saying that but ur here watching a Btec vs A level video so shushhhhh

Great explanation, thank you so much!
Those who laugh at BTEC don’t realise that majority are going into engineering and medicine. Which is funny because the workload has more coursework and exams than A levels. I haven’t got many people in my degree (which i will complete this May) and in masters degree in construction project management/civil engineering most cane through BTEC as it is far more technical and professional in STEM subject
I'm doin a level 3 in construction and built environment, to hopefully become a construction project manager, but I remember a secondary people laughed when I said what I needed for my Btec, and they were all sayin how I wont be able to be a professional and make money, now some of my mates who kinda joined in with the laughing have gone quiet now I'm going in to a apprenticeship that pays well for my age ( plus I'm rent free and have no living costs). I love my btec wouldn't change it in any way.
I’m going to study level 3 health and social care in sept in college
Owen Mills same as me mate, thats exactly what i did at college. Don’t take any notice of pathetic people. You are doing the right thing. A levels are only so good if you want to go into financing etc. Best of luck to you pal. Add me on LinkedIn (if you have one), its a good starting point to connect and network with your professors, potential employers and colleagues etc. My names (Sergey Worster). You will get there. I’m set to finish next month, at end of May. Wish you best of luck. Any questions, please add me andask away.
zeta okoroha good luck Zeta :) Are you looking to get into healthcare or social working?
Yip Yap hey. I want to be a social worker for adults in the future xx. After college I want to go to uni to study the course x
Thank you. I needed this information.
Thank you, this video was veryy helpful. Currently in my first year of Lvl 3 sports science and im just looking at my uni options for physiotherapy.

Excellent source information thanks you
I finished high school with really good grades I got a level 8 in maths but I decided to do btech Engineering as I wanted to become an engineer and k thought at the time it would be better for me. I ended up getting D*D*D* it was so easy for me I've now gotten a place at a Russell group undoing civil Engineering and I wish I had done A levels because a lot of the maths is A level maths in more detail and I cant help but compare myself to the A level students around who who have come into the course with a lot more knowledge in the maths a physics side of civil Engineering. However, I know I will be able to do the maths if I put double the effort and practice. Practice is key. In conclusion I got into one of the top unis in England wth the least amount of effort and if I was to go back in time I would choose A level as i would be equipped with a lot more knowledge.
That's wonderful you got acceped in a russell group university!
Can I ask which russel group uni you got into?
Do you recommend any websites and companies that provide good online Level 3 BTEC subsidiary courses?
Thank for this video, I did help in some way but the only thing that it didn’t answer was that because I’m only doing a level 3 diploma in health and social care and I’m not doing any a levels will I still be able to go to uni or not??
I do two alevels and one btec. If the entry requirement is three letter grades can I still get in
Am I able to do any preparation before starting the actual course in September or should I wait , thank you
Son taking a mixture of A level & BTEC. Ideally he wanted to do BTEC extended unfortunately his 6th form didn't offer it. I'm a fan of BTEC I did BTEC & went to uni. The end results is the same to get to uni. I was very good on the practical side hence why BTEC was the better option for me
Btecs have a 38% drop out rate, A levels 16% at Degree level
I'm thinking of doing English Language (1 A level) and BTEC Forensic Science and Inverstigation (2 A level equilvalent), does my BTEC count as a subsidary or Extended?
Some btecs are very broad such as enhanced engineering as you do further maths, business, machining, thermodynamics, CAD and many more
I’m a btec student and I got into university of York which is a Russel group uni. I agree with him because I knew I always wanted to go to a good uni but also wanted to take a different approach to education. So by doing that it did restrict my choices.
rachel masih did you do all BTEC subjects? Or was it a mixture of BTEC and A Levels?
ali adnan
It was all btec subjects
rachel masih oh okay, even I am doing all BTEC. Just to confirm, are there many Russell Group university that are fine if you don’t do a combination of A levels and BTEC?
ali adnan
From my experience I got lucky as I got the requirements for maths and English as well. But before you submit your application do research on all requirements and even call the uni administration aswell just to confirm. This will prevent you from applying to a uni that won’t take you in.
rachel masih okay, thank you. If you don’t mind telling me, could you please tell me what were your BTEC grades?
It I do a btec level 3 business will I be able to go to uni? A lot of these comments say that won’t be posisble
Thank you this is was so useful
No problem at all Mekha - glad that you found it helpful :-)
You know what's ass? When universities expect two A levels alongside an extended diploma
I'm in Year 11 and am predicted 7s-9s in all my GCSEs but I'm so so so passionate about art and so am kinda thinking about taking a "UAL Level 3 Applied General Diploma and Extended Diploma in Art and Design", is it a good idea? I want to be a game artist when I'm older and already have the skills in drawing and 2D digital software but I'm very lacking in the actual concept designing part. I was thinking if I just made my whole education for 2 yrs about game art (which is what this course focuses on) I can dedicate all my free time to that rather than random subjects I'll never use
Should I do it or just take A-levels?
What about a btec level 3 extended diploma + 2 a levels.
What kind of degree will i get if i did btec level 3 a master's degree or a bachelor's degree?
hello, I'm a private candidate (outside UK) I was wondering how can I study for Btec as a private candcandidate
This is very confusing. Why all these options? Come on, after GCSE a student should know if at all he/she wants to attend uni. Then the preferred entrance qualification should be A Levels. If not then go along a techvoc route. Now I've seen they have T Levels...what's happening? Do they have another thing coming?
i do 4 alevels chemistry physics further maths and maths. So yh im on a whole different spectrum. Tbh people should try out alevels for the first month and if you dont like it then chose btec courses.
I do those 4 they're hard, but I would definitely find 4 essay subjects harder
im currently in year 11 and really want to be a comic artist and i would say that i am fairly decent at drawing as i have always liked it, however i didnt pick art for gcse when we chose in year 8 and am now realky confused and stuck
gcses do not matter in the slightest do not worry :)
I didn't pick an art GCSE and I did a Level 2 then a Level 3 Art BTEC at College, now I'm doing an Art & Design Foundation year and am applying for university now. Just make a portfolio to take to a college interview to show em you can draw and pass your English Language and Maths so you don't have to re-take them.
thank u soo much man I've really ruined my education i messed around at school and destroyed my grades i left school with english maths history and media i was gutted because to do a level 2 btec in engineering i need science so i done level one i finish level 2 soon and when i complete level 3 i can go to uni and get an amazing job thanks man
It's never too late Deni. I got kicked out of school in year 9 and now I'm doing a PhD! You'll get there. Just make sure whatever it is that you do, it's something that you really enjoy.
Do u have a email I can contact you on to ask you a few questions
Hey so I’m doing a level sociology and philosophy and a btec level 3 in IT, which counts as one a level. Im just wondering if the university of Westminster for example would accept me for Business Information Systems, especially if I’m doing a btec?
Hi Hamid,
Best thing to do is ring the university themselves! They should have a telephone number for questions about admissions and they'll be able to tell you. Good choice with Sociology though! I loved studying that for A Level :-)
@@EduDetective ahh okay I’ll definitely do that, thanks & yeaah I’m loving sociology so far :)
Is one Btec subject enough to get into a UK university, the entry requirements as Level 3 ext diploma MMM, what does “MMM” exactly mean?

Is BTECH HND Accepted in Other Countries Other Than UK Like USA?
I'm Doing HND in Computing & Management Systems
Just look at the number of employers that WONT accept btecs on their Grad scheme, that says a lot about them being accepted abroad
I skipped A/L's and completed my HND in Computing way back in 2005. The best decision I ever made simply because I was able to fast track my education towards the direction of my interest and get employed. I was offered internship at Avast where I worked for 10 years.
I own a global IT firm now providing solutions for notable companies.
No, I didn't complete a degree. It took me my HND and a lot of hard work 😉.
awesome
Can I do mechanical engineering with a foundation year if I’m doing BTEC Level 3 extended diploma applied science
Hey thanks for your question!
It will largely depend on which university that you apply for. The best first step to take would be to take a look at the universities that you're interested in and give their admissions teams a call.
Usually you can find the telephone number on the university websites. Unfortunately as I mentioned in the video there's a lot of difference in the approaches taken by unis for BTEC, especially with subjects like engineering where they typically ask for A Level maths and physics.
I'd definitely recommend doing a bit of research and giving the institutions that you're interested in a ring.
I recomend doing an A level maths online course (which u can do in 1 year) on like Cloud learn, then you can get into pretty much any uni, even the top 5. Hope that helps.
Yes. I gone into surveying degree with extended diploma in construction and engineering
Hey I done the same course. 💖
MY TEACHER LIED!!! I’m doing a BTEC level 3 subsidiary diploma in Photography. My teacher made me believe I can get into any course of my choice in University with this grade. But I’m not even taking any other BTEC courseworks or A levels as it is a full time course so I have this three days a week. I really don’t know what to do. I have no other qualifications and I want to go into uni next year by September. Please I need advice.
you should ask a councillor or careers advisor at your school about this
You don't need to go to university to study photography
Hi, how old are you [sorry if that's rude]? You have free education up until 19 years old, so 3 years after high school, so after doing year 1 of your BTEC [the subsidiary or national diploma] you can progress onto Year 2 which is the Extended Diploma? If you don't fall into that bracket you could look into Advanced Learner Loans, which offer you a loan to pay for Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications if you're between 19-23. I believe these can also pay for Access Courses, but you'd have to check that. Additionally you could take the UCAS points you have from that course and apply for Universities with 4 Year Degree options so you start on Year 0 and after that can progress onto the full degree, or if you are unhappy with that Uni you could do really well then transfer to a better Uni. I hope this helps!!!
Basically, BTEC is extreme workload and you have tons of essays, projects, presentations, field work and some exams. Many unis i been to actually prefer people with BTEC background since they are proficient in every aspect of academia. It is the best route into STEM subjects
I just finished Btec level 2 engineering. I did not think it was easy. I learnt a lot
athena energy Shine definitely not easy. They are now changed. It is 50% coursework, 50% exam and you also have to keep a diary. BTEC is exactly like uni now because my modules are either 4k work reports, 3/4 hour exams or mix of both. I strongly doubt crappy A levels will prepare you for uni consideing BTEC now teaches both exam and assignments tyat you will do during Bachelors and Master’s programmes.
@@sergeyw8864
How many types of BTEC?
And which BTEC best and more opportunities with companies and uni?🙄
Azzlo Son BTEC are intended for subjects such as IT, Engineering, Science, Fashion, Trades, Business and Social Work/Medicine. Since these are practical courses, they are perfect for science and art disciplines. A levels are perfect for Engineering also but more towards Geography, History, Finance, math etc (Hunanities subjects and business).

Hi Alamin,
Great to hear from you!
I can certainly look into making an episode about BTEC Level 2 qualifications. Is there anything specific that you would like to know?
@@EduDetective what about the btec extended diploma level 3 information technology. is this course any good?
We know we can get into UNI but can you get into Russell Group
Hi Zahida,
I cover that in the video.
Yes. In fact, Oxford and Cambridge both accept BTEC Extended Diploma in applied science with an extra a level.
So if I wanted to study law at a university A levels would be the best choice?
Hi Oliver, there are plenty of great universities out there which accept a L3 BTEC Extended Diploma for Law. However, if you wanted to apply to Russell Group universities (like Warwick, Nottingham or Southampton), you would need to do A Levels. It's possible with these universities that you could do a mix of A Level and BTEC, however it would be wise to ring their admissions teams to see what they advise.
Best of luck!
@@EduDetective if y have AS level qualification can u go into a btec level 3 course for example
maths , computer science and economics to do a level 3 computer course straight into 2nd year ???
A levels, Btecs are a farce and worthless.
Hi, so I’ve just finished my GCSEs and I’m about to start sixth form at my school and I applied to do a level: law, history and psychology however in July we got an email saying they’ve changed their law a level course to a level 3 btec worth 1 a level. I really want to do law however I’m not sure whether I should change it to another a level as I want to go into law and I know it’s a very competitive area. Hope you can offer some advice it would be much appreciated :)
Hi Amy,
Thanks for your question. First thing is well done! It's great that you're doing some research and making sure that what you plan to study in sixth form will keep your options nice and open. History and Psychology are two strong, academic A Levels so in my experience I would say most universities would welcome an application to their law degree from you as long as your predicted grades matched their entry requirements!
However, admissions policies do vary from university to university so it might be worth taking a look on the web pages for Law at the types of uni that you might want to apply to and check out what they say.
Another good shout is the informed choices website run by the Russell Group of universities. This is great for getting an idea of the best A-Level subjects to study for certain degrees. The website is www.informedchoices.ac.uk/
Hope that's helpful!
Edu Detective thank you for your help it’s much appreciated! :)

Alevels is a waste of time not everyone get a great results foundation courses are way more effective to short cut to the undergraduate ur taking

100%
with the ib i find that pretty classist
Please explain why?
BTEC scheme has changed. It is exactly like uni now. Every module is split into 2/3 parts.
Coursework, exam and presentation/lab test.
Typically 50% coursework, 40% exam and 10% presentation. It is quite literally exactly how undergrad/postgrad programmes are like.
I either have 50/50 split between 4k word report and 1.5 hr exam per module or 4 hour exam or 4k report with appendices and calculations etc to go with it.
BTEC is aa close as you can niw get to prepare for uni and beyond
Very true for the newer specification, but a lot of BTECs still run on the older QCF. It's always worth ringing the admissions team for your preferred university.
by presentation do you mean how you present your work or actual presentations to show others?

(I’m obviously being sarcastic)
My head of Science believes that I'll be more successful in BTEC. Is that because BTEC is easier than A Levels?
It's a different style of teaching and learning, so it really just depends what you're good at! There's plenty of universities that would accept a BTEC in say, applied science, but you'll find a lot of Russell Group unis will ask that you have A Level.
@@EduDetective you gave the perfect example. I'm wanting to do applied science but I want to get into a good university. Are there any Russell Group unis that you're aware of that accept BTEC?
@@mohibj it varies greatly! The best bet is to pop to something like a UCAS convention and speak to the people on the stands from the universities. As a rule of thumb RG unis are a lot less likely to accept the BTEC, but that doesn't mean you won't find one that does. Also take a look at unis like Portsmouth and Coventry. Both are doing very well in the league tables and are likely to accept a BTEC.
Hope that helps!
