I’m glad to hear that, I’m here if you have any questions or want to chat about any worries you have. Learning never stops, I know people who went to college at 19/20 and I have people who are in their 50’s on my university course. Don’t let anyone or anything stop you! :)

    hi I’m in a very difficult position right now. I just got my gcse results and most of them are 4’s. The teaching advisors said that because my score is quite low and its difficult I should do BTEC business level 3 extended diploma. I’ve always been interested in having my own company and I was just wondering if I was to choose this would this be beneficial for me or not ? like do I have possibilities related to having my own business in the future and would I be able to use that if I was to go university or even do an apprenticeship. the thing is I’m only going to be doing that in sixth form and resitting maths, nothing else. so I don’t know what to

      Hi! I just quickly want to say that regardless of the grades you got, you should be happy! I know that can be hard when you're perhaps disappointed, but you sat all those exams, not anyone else - you did! And that in itself is an achievement! WELL DONE! 4's are great, are you happy with them? There are so many options out there! Doing BTEC Business was great and I enjoyed it a lot. If you are interested in running your business, doing this course would benefit you. The course is ideal for business owners because of its detailed and varied units, such as accounting (financing your business), creative product promotion (creating ads) and environment, to name a few. I learnt a lot about business I didn't even know about! At GCSE, it is just the beginning! Many people I know who chose this course went on to good universities to study business, there are always opportunities out there. Any knowledge or skills running your business will give you a step up on the ladder, but know that many people start businesses without any qualifications, as long as you have a drive, passion and a good idea, it can work. Have you considered college? I knowa girl who studied 1 BTEC and 1 A-Level and 1 friend at sixth form who did the same. Have you asked about doing 2 BTECS? or 1 BTEC and 1 A-Level?

      I'm going to start my second year of BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Business this September and I just want to say that it's a great course. This course is equivalent to 3 A levels and it can get you into a good university where you could choose to do accounting, business, finance, economics, etc. I guess you could get into college and enrolle for this course easily. I'll give you a tip if you decide to do this course: "Always try and get the distinction" because that's what most universities want.

    • @MassimoPeluso
      @MassimoPeluso  5 років тому +1

      No problem at all :). Something you will hear a lot is that things happen for a reason and everything will work out! You shouldn’t measure success solely on grades! There is so much more to life! If you know you did your best, that’s all that matters. If you know you could have done better, then of course it is a learning curve. What a great attitude to have! I believe in you and you can achive anything you put your mind to. It’s honestly up to you, for you to understand your passions and strengths: what GCSEs did you excel at and which ones do you enjoy. There are a variety of courses: BTEC IT, Accounting and even Media Studies. I feel IT and Accounting in particular would benefit you the most for your future plans and are similar to Business. Hi, thank you for your comment and your kind words! Right, so, after my one year at college (studying BTEC Business), I went back to sixth form to study my 3 A-Levels, then went to Brighton Uni for my first year (finished this year) and I decided to transfer to Met Uni for this Sept to be closer to home and London. I’m here to answer other questions you have about my journey :)

    • @inactive5895
      @inactive5895 4 роки тому +1

      @@MassimoPeluso Damn thats interesting. I didn't know that you could transfer from one Uni to the other mid course. How does that work? Also what did you get at a level to meet the requirements because presumably having the BTEC meant you didn't need particularly crazy grades?

    • @MassimoPeluso
      @MassimoPeluso  4 роки тому

      Ha, it is a crazy journey. I’m thankful for all the opportunities. Well, because I was a 1st year student, it is a lot easier because 1st year for the majority of courses don’t count towards your final grade and therefore the only thing Met Uni had to check was that modules were similar and they were, so I was able to transfer. I’m not sure if you can transfer 2nd year to 3rd year to another university. I would assume that you cannot, but also I don’t think anyone would as it is stressful and only having 1 year left, there isn’t much point. All you have to do, is apply through UCAS like a brand new student, state it’s year 2 entry and wait to hear back. I did a few phone calls just to double check the procedure, but yeah pretty easy. For Brighton Uni, you needed 96-112 points. Having BTEC Business of course did give me a leg up, already with 84 points. I highly recommend doing a mix of BTECs and A-Levels, I think BTECS are fantastic. :)

    • @MassimoPeluso
      @MassimoPeluso  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, thank you for your comment! All 3 are great! I studied Psychology and Business. For Psychology, I would always leave shocked and inspired. For Business, I learnt topics I did not consider, like ethics. Media seems fun, I know a lot of people who studied it and you are really let loose to be creative. I think the big question is; what subjects interest you and subjects you would like to study for 2 years and perhaps at university or get into that field. Have you studied Media, Business or Psychology/Social Science based subjects at GCSE? I personally would go for a variety, allowing more doors to be opened just in case you have a change of plan. I studied 4 subjects, a mixture of Social Science and Humanity subjects. If you only want to study 1 subject, it’s important you’re 100% sure you want to get into that industry!

    Is Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business worth doing and can you get into university with this

    • @MassimoPeluso
      @MassimoPeluso  4 роки тому +1

      Hi! Thank you for your comment. Yes, doing this course is worth doing! It really does open doors, teaches you a lot and helps you to progress within Business. Doing L3 BTEC Business can get you into university - it is equivalent to 3 A-Levels. Yes it counts as 1 subject, but you get 3 grades at the end of the 2 years (2 grades at the end of the first year and 1 at the end of the second year). Of course you can get into university with it, around 95% of universities accept them. I hope I’ve helped in some way. If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask :)

    • @MassimoPeluso
      @MassimoPeluso  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, I mean, of course there are massive differences between A-Levels and BTECs. The biggest of course is one is mainly exams and the other is mainly coursework. It really does depend on what you thrive in. Also, a big factor is what subjects you need for your career/further study. With A-Levels, there is a lot to subjects.. whereas with BTEC, it is very limited with its subjects. I luckily had the ability to study both BTEC and A-Level and with that in mind, I highly recommend taking both. Perhaps 1 BTEC and 1-2 A-Level. I think saying BTEC is easier is not necessarily true. Yes there is less stress as you can complete assignments in your free time, but it’s important to understand there is a lot of work, time and energy that goes into the course! I’ve said this many times to students: with doing 1 course, it is very vital that you’re studying a subject you know you like and want to pursue. Business is fantastic but if you change your mind down the line, your opportunities are narrow. If you said you want to study Business at university, I would recommend the BTEC! No problem at all :) I hope I’ve helped and if you have any more questions, just ask! :)

    Hi I just wanted to ask I’ve been recommended to do a level 3 extended diploma in business due to my predicted grades being 4s and 5s however I have a passion for sport and would like to do a btec in that as well so in this case what could I do?

    • @MassimoPeluso
      @MassimoPeluso  4 роки тому

      Hi, thank you for your comment! BTEC Business and BTEC Sport will have similar entry requirements. At my college, all you needed, for many BTEC’s is a C/4 in English Language and perhaps Maths, although passing maths wasn’t essential as you could resit it. As well as having 3 other Passes. It helps massively if you have studied Sports at GCSE. But this isn’t essential. Can I ask why you have been recommended to do Business, do you study Business and Sports at GCSE and what your predicted grade is for Science, as this may be the reason why, as there is an element of Biology within Sport.

      Ah ok, so the same as me then! I did 1 BTEC at college for a year, got 2 grades and then went off to sixth form and did 3 A-Levels. Do you know what A-Levels you have in mind? Yes you can complete a BTEC in 1 year, but it depends on what the course is. If it’s 90 Credits (I did that) for example. Yeah you could that and drop Business. From my knowledge you can’t do a BTEC in 6 months. It’s either 1 or 2 year courses typically.

      Hi! Well, I achieved D*D* and that is 84 ucas points. Which is the highest amount of ucas points you can accumulate just from a year of a full time BTEC. But if you were to do 2 years then of course it would be easier to get 104 ucas points. I think you need around DMM to get 104 ucas points. how was the coursework set out? was there alot and did you need to do presentations in front of the class?

    • @MassimoPeluso
      @MassimoPeluso  4 роки тому +1

      Hi, thank you for your comment! Regarding how the coursework was set out, it was very reasonable. You typically would have around 2 weeks ish to complete an assignment. It may be longer depending if it requires more work or shorter if it requires less work. Due dates cannot be changed, if you miss a deadline (unless you have a medical reason etc) than you will fail that assignment and I believe this means you fail the unit, therefore failing the course? I could be wrong regarding failing the unit and course, but I’m pretty certain this is the case. Please don’t take my word with this! Before assignments were set, you always are taught the content and so you should go into the assignment knowing exactly what to do pretty much. Maybe with some more research. I loved the flexibility with the course! There was a fair bit, some assignments were extremely long. I’m talking multiple criterias for an assignment - 3 P’s, 2 M’s and 2 D’s, those sort of quantities. If you know BTEC, completing a M and D, is very demanding! But you’ll be fine :) when I was at college, I was only in 3 days a week and therefore had a lot of time to catch up on assignments and notes etc. With presentations, yes, you have to present unfortunately. I presented both to the class (casually about my work and for my assignments and in front of the teacher marking me and a camera). I know it may be hard to hear if you don’t like presenting but trust me, it helps so much! Especially for university if that is a route you’ll considering. I hope I’ve helped in some way, if you have any other questions feel free to ask. Please subscribe if you haven’t already :) thank you!

      Hi, thank you for your comment! The course I studied/the one I’m talking about is the 90 Credits Diploma, so it is a Diploma. Well that really depends on what course you are on and how long you would like to stay. At college, a full time Business course lasts 2 years, but you can leave after the first year and receive 2 grades equivalent to A-Level. But typically, they last either 1 or 2 years - for Level 3. • @MassimoPeluso
      @MassimoPeluso  5 років тому +1

      Hi, thank you for your comment! I believe doing a BTEC or A-Level in Business is great as they use a range of skills including problem solving. It really does depend on your work ethic and wherever you are good under pressure. I know a few people who studied Politics and loved it! I believe the subjects you listed are challenging but exciting subjects and can open doors. This course was amazing for me! It taught me to be independent with regards to doing my assignments, revising and extra learning. Teachers are extremely supportive but of course it’s not like school and there is an element of do it yourself attitude. Furthermore, I can definitely say that my confidence has improved from this course. I had to complete numerous presentations - either alone or in groups, in front of the teacher, a camera and sometimes the class and that boosted my confidence. I also feel it allowed me to be more of a people person as you see all sorts of people at college. At my college, there was thousands of students and so there is really a mixed bag of personalities and so you have to adapt! After about 2/3 months of doing my Business course I considered A-Levels, as I always wanted to do them but thought it was be a nice to do something different before hand (I always heard how difficult they are). I enrolled into a nearby sixth form that some of my friends went to and I’ve now just finished studying Psychology, Sociology and Geography!
      I hope I’ve helped :) any other questions feel free to ask :)

It really does depend on how many criterias there are for each assignment, for example, one assignment I had included 8 criterias and one assignment only had 3 (what you need to include in your coursework to achieve the grade). Hi Juanita, thank you for your message! What subjects are you currently studying and what has made you consider restarting? It’s a great subject, you will really enjoy Business. It’s not important to have studied it at GCSE, no. I mean, a lot of people on the course would have typically studied it at GCSE, that’s why they chose it. But no, you won’t be disadvantaged. The course at Level 3 is structured and taught in a way as if it is a fresh to everyone. Of course it does mention some content and keywords used at GCSE, but you are taught that in the beginning. If you’re interested in Business, and have the drive to do well, then why not! I hope I’ve helped, if you have any other questions feel free to ask :)

I continued my second year but I have failed a lot of units due to personal reasons I’m just wondering does my UCAS point go down from last year due to what I got on my second year or both are separate and the UCAS points I got from my first year stay the same?????

      Hi, thank you for your comment! I hope you’re well. Well done for getting DM!! I’m sorry to hear that. Yes, they are separate. You achieved DM for your first year and are separate units. So your UCAS points will stay the same. What you get for second year will be reflected in you next set of results. I only studied the course for a year but if I was to do the second year rather then do A-Levels, I would have got another grade. And that would have been separate. Can I say, DM is great, you should be over the moon! I hope I’ve helped - if you have any other questions, feel free to ask! :)

    Hi, thought the video was great as it gave me a good idea of what I’ll be doing in hopefully September... I’ve been learning Business as a GCSE at school but I haven’t actually finished learning everything, so is it worth during quarantine to finishing learning the GCSE entirely or start learning the BTEC course? Cheers

    • @MassimoPeluso
      @MassimoPeluso  4 роки тому

      Hi! Thank you, it means a lot! Firstly, try not to stress out too much. I’m exactly the same starting new courses, I panic about being prepared. There’s no harm in having a look at the BTEC course, to get a grasp of what the course will involve and to perhaps focus on areas you may struggle in. Although, I would say finish the GCSE content because it is the foundation of what you learn at BTEC Level 3, there is a lot of reference to GCSE content. I remember having lessons thinking to myself: “oh yeah, I know that definition, I learnt that at GCSE”. Finish off GCSE and then if you have time (I’m sure you will) look at the BTEC content, but don’t over work yourself! Take it easy and you’ll be fine, your teachers will be there to introduce it to you and make sure you understand it. Hope this has helped! 😉

      Massimo Peluso Hey again, I have another question if you don’t mind. At college what days do you have to go in and stuff, I’ve been told different things.

    • @MassimoPeluso
      @MassimoPeluso  4 роки тому

      Hi again! How are you? That’s ok, ask as many questions as you like! For me, I was in 3 days a week: Monday, Wednesday & Thursday. Which is still considered full time. Depending on the course you are doing, will determine your hours. I studied BTEC Business and those were my days. For one of my friends who is currently studying BTEC Sports, she is in the same amount of days I had. But I believe she does Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. I wouldn’t say you would be in for 5 days a week if you are only doing 1 BTEC. Even a friend of mine who did 3 A-Levels at college, was in for 3 days as well! That’s the good thing with BTEC and college, there is a lot of flexibility. I hope I’ve helped! Hope you have a nice day. :)

    I have no idea what this is but it was the only thing I could choose at sixth form because I got a 4 in English and everything I wanted to do like law needed a 5,. Would this get me into a university as I found out online that is worth 3 a levels?, I'm only doing this extended diploma in business nothing else, I wanted to do criminology at uni

    • @MassimoPeluso
      @MassimoPeluso  5 років тому

      Hi! Have you considered doing BTEC Law? Is that an option? Yes of course it can get you into university 😊 yeah that is correct, if you do the 2 years it is equivalent to 3 A-Levels, but if you do the 1 year like me you will only receive 2 grades. I’m sure you won’t be restricted applying to the Criminology course at university, but of course due you not studying it at BTEC/A-Level, some universities may be reluctant to give you an offer as Business isn’t similar to Criminology. It will differ from university to university depending on how strict they are. Did you study any Science/Social Science related subjects at GCSE?

    • @harsipurewal

      @@MassimoPeluso I completely failed science in my gcses, I got a 3 and at my sixth form there's only a level law and they wanted like a 5, 6 in English, with this extended business btec would I also be able to become a lawyer in the future by doing something at university? Because becoming a lawyer or something similar was my second option, and I've never done business for gcses

    • @MassimoPeluso
      @MassimoPeluso  5 років тому

      At least you got a Science qualification, I understand you may not be happy with a 3, but it’s not the end of the world! Have you asked about taking Law? Because they may be able to comprise. I know some sixth forms are willing to make something work for their students. Mention that you need Law and you’re willing to work hard. I think it would be best to have chat with your Head or sixth form perhaps? You clearly need Law! It’s best to have qualifications and background in Law if you want to become a Lawyer I would say. I’m not familiar with the Law route. Not studying a subject at GCSE won’t hinder you if you were to study it at the next level. Many people on my Business course didn’t study Business at GCSE and were fine! If you are unsure about studying Business, have you considered other institutions? Like College or nearby sixth forms? Don’t just settle for a course, be 100% sure!

    Hey im on my 2nd year of business level 3. I got a DM las year if get 5 D and 4 M this year could I get a good job because I am tired of intense studying and uni would be harder. So what types of jobs can I get and what wage would I be looking at

    • @MassimoPeluso
      @MassimoPeluso  4 роки тому

      Hi! Thank you so much for your comment. Well done for achieving DM, that is really good! My first tip is just to try your best and work hard, grades aren’t the be-all and end-all, there is more to life than grades! Try to give it your all. Although, answering your question, with the 2 grades you already have, already sets you off nicely. They’re solid grades that will allow you to get a good job. And if you do achieve 5 D’s and 4 M’s (that will probably equal a M?) that will also be fantastic, making you a good candidate for a job. But of course that depends on what job you are considering - if it’s in Business, it’s a lot easier compared to other industries. As you studied Business, I’m guessing you want to get into Business? I completely get how you feel! I feel it has been constant stress since about GCSE’s, all the way to my degree course now. I can confidently say university is difficult but it helps if you enjoy your subject and have the support. If you’re looking at jobs in the Business field then perhaps think about what units on your course has interested you the most - Advertisement? Accounting? And then wages can be looked at. I know Managers of companies get paid well, but thats a job that takes a few years and helps to already be working at the company as a worker (I.e Manager at a supermarket, firm). Or have you considered teaching Business? There are opportunities to take in more responsibilities and in turn have a higher salary (for example Head of Department). I hope I’ve helped, any more questions feel free to ask. Please subscribe If you haven’t already, I would appreciate it :)

    • @MassimoPeluso
      @MassimoPeluso  4 роки тому +1

      Hi! How are you? That’s good you decided what you want to do and can now organise your next steps! Do you know what area of Science you will focus on? The simple answer is yes. Many people on my Psychology and Sociology degree course didn’t even study those subjects at A-Level and they are going into it clueless pretty much. Therefore, you have the ability to catch up and get to the same level as people who have perhaps studied a Science course at BTEC or A-Level etc. Of course you may be at a minor disadvantage because all of the content will be brand new, compared to me for example, some topics and content we have covered I remember from A-Level. It makes it a little easier to grasp, but degree courses are designed in a way to be for both new students and students who already have knowledge. Lecturers and professors are present and fantastic, always happy to answer questions! Also, the likelihood you will be in 5 days a week is very very unlikely. Most people are only in a couple of a few days a week, allowing you to have plenty of time to read around the subject, send emails and look over lecture notes. I hope I’ve helped, any other questions feel free to ask :)
