    I started 6th form in 2017 doing Art, Photography and English, I dropped English after the first year and started an AS in film studies, I was originally going to do art and design foundation later, but I spiralled down bc of lack of motivation and teachers putting me down, and so I dropped out of Art and Photography on the day I was supposed to do my art exam.
    Only getting my AS in film studies I started a L3 extended diploma in Film and TV in sept 2019, I've nearly finished my course and hoping to go to uni in sept 2021, I cant but help feel a little behind some of my friends who are now in their second year of uni.
    Do not believe what your peers at GCSE tell you about BTECs, they are tailored to certain ppl just as much as A levels are to some

    My btec is be life changing (no joke) I went getting low grades in my gcse to getting amazing grades in btec applied sciences. I found my love in biology and now going to university. I was going to do alevel but I felt I didn't want to just do exams. Great video 👍. I also found my exam routines as there are few exams in my course. So I got a mix of both skills.

      @@manishgurung8926 it was amazing. It great that my work get marked along the way and don't have to revise for one big sets of exams. I going off to study biomedical sciences this September. Excited but very nervous.

      I was the same! So thankful I chose to do a BTEC, I never had to do a subject I didn't like again! :) I'm sure you are going to be great in September, don't be nervous! Remember everyone is in the same boat. You'll go from awkwardly drinking tea with complete strangers to sharing all of your time with them and rushing back after Christmas to see everyone! :) Good luck with everything!!

    I’ve got a passion in a Business and it’s in that subject where I want to work in later life, so do you think it’s best for me to do a B-TEC? I went to my Orientation day at my college and didn’t really like it (the college and people), so I’m now considering doing A-Levels and taking - Business, Economics and 1 other A-Level, English Lit possibly.

      I do also find Economics interesting, and Business is quite similar

      @@willjohnston5384 Hi Will! Initially I would say yes to doing a BTEC if you know you have that one area you are passionate in. However the environment and people around you are very important! May it be worth having a look at some other colleges in your area? Don't be put off by a little commute, I quite enjoyed getting the bus each day to college :) I think those A-Levels also sound like a good option though, it just depends how you work best? Have you spoken to anyone at the sixth form about A-levels?

      University Insiders Hi, yes I have spoken to the director of my Sixth form and he’s told me I’m more than welcome to come if I wanted. I’m fine with exam stress, and I can revise well. But If, like me you know what you want to do, is there an advantage to taking BTEC over A-Levels for that subject? For example say you got the best grade in both, do Universities and employers value one more than the other?

      Another thing, with my course at my College they want us to have a work experience placement for two days a week, but because of COVID I just don’t see how any employer is going to be willing to take people on

      And tbh, some of our sectors at college, contain group work, which we are assessed on and I don’t work the best with other people when it comes to learning.

    Are btec coursework more important than exams. Let's say u do good in ur btec course but exams not good does it effect

    • @UniversityInsiders
      @UniversityInsiders  3 роки тому

      Hi Samuel! It will depend on the weighting. For example you may do a marketing module..the exam might be 70% of the grade whilst the coursework is 30%. Both are very important but you may want to work extra hard on the exam as that holds a higher weighting for the overall grade! Does that make sense? :) It will vary module to module. I would always try and pick modules with a lower weighting on the exam because I prefer coursework...but you may not always have that option!

    • @UniversityInsiders
      @UniversityInsiders  3 роки тому

      @@samuelagho1557 It sounds like you might have a higher weighting on course work then! You have longer to perfect coursework which is always a good thing. Keep chipping away at that exam revision too, you don't want to produce some fantastic coursework and then let the exam bring you down!

    i field science so i can't get into a level 3 extended btec in engineering but i can get into level 2 so can i do level 2 btec in engineering and move up to level 3 then go uni

    • @UniversityInsiders
      @UniversityInsiders  4 роки тому

      Hi Deni, It may be worth contacting the college you wish to study at. Sometimes they allow you straight onto the level 3 if you agree to get your science qualification alongside your course however they may ask you to study for it alongside your level 2. It's definitely worth giving them a call to discuss your options and expressing your interest in moving on to university afterwards! Let me know how you get on with that and feel free to reply with any more questions you have! :)

    I got pretty bad gcse grades and I don’t want really want to do btecs but I was wondering that if I asked my sixth form if I could get into some a levels courses even if I was under the entry requirements maybe they’d feel some sympathy and let me into them? I really don’t see my self going through the “one subject” route as I’d like to open more doors for my self in the future and to be completely honest I’ve been stressing really hard ever since I heard I don’t meet most entry requirements so any advice would be appreciated.

    • @UniversityInsiders

      Hi! I think in these strange circumstances it's always a good idea to speak to the staff at your school or the sixth form you wish to attend! They made be able to help and advise on your specific situation :). A BTEC doesn't necesarily limit you however if it isn't the route you want to go down, don't feel as though you should have to settle for something you don't want! ( however I will say that I also didn't want to do a BTEC but I ended up really happy with my decision! I loved it - each person will have a different experience.) There may even be the opportunity to retake some of your GCSE's whilst you study A-Levels! It all depends on what your sixth form offer. Definitely give them a call and talk this all through, they are there to help you! Good Luck :)
