How this shows in asian countries is the influence of western TV and Films. With it’s under representation of Asians in general and the romanticising of sub par white males. Think Homer and Marge or any Adam Sandler movies where he has a hot wife. There’s a lot of media that pitches sub par white guys with top tear women.
I'm from Hong Kong and have dated both Chinese and Europeans - I absolutely agree with everything you said especially the last sentence. White fever is so rampant in Asia that the most mediocre/sub par/overweight white men can still get really good looking (I mean model looking) and nice Asian women here.
I visited Vietnam for vacation 3 times in the last few years before Covid-19 and really noticed the skewed gender ratio. Another thing I noticed is foreigners going there looking for a wife. I saw a lot of Western, Korean and Chinese men. I am sure it is tough for Vietnamese guys there ....
I wish I could give asian guys some words of encouragement but all I can come up with is: BE competitive! Tall, handsome, wealthy, talented. Try to have it all! Or at least as much as you can achieve. The only time where you should not be doing something to improve is in your sleep. Dating has become global which means that all women - not just the western privileged ones - want the best. And so do men. Dating is nowadays a marketplace which means we first get attracted by shallow things like looks and money and only then by personality and spirit. Marriages and relationships are not worth it these days especially in Western countries due to divorce and family laws where you can lose half or more of your assets and also your children to your ex-wife. You will also also end up with huge alimony and child support payments that could eat up most of your paycheck. If you bring a foreign women from countries which value traditional values such as China to a Western country, there is a guarantee that she will copy the attitudes and behavior of Western women. As a result, she could divorce rape you years down the road.
Viet American here but its not just a viet guys thing and this is actually much more serious and dangerous than people think. What im seeing is a global trend. In current developed countries (mostly western and east asia) theres been a historic drop in birth rates and that is the price of modernity. Women in developed countries no longer choose to get married or have kids and have left away traditional values. The ones that do want it chase after the top 20% of guys. What the rest of the men below the top 20% are doing is now going to developing countries to meet women. If I were to put the world into 5 tiers of development. I'd say 1st tier fully developed countries like Japan, South Korea, US and western countries, 2nd tier is almost there like Malaysia, China and eastern europe. 3rd tier which is middle and world average like thailand and most of Latin America and se asia. And 4th tier which is below world average like South asia and then 5th tier is least developed like Africa. What we are seeing is men from 1st tier go to lower tiers to meet women, the local men get beaten out of the game and work towards increasing their chances by working extra hard to growing themself which in turn also developes their country and then eventually become 1st tier. This sounds good but then back to what I said, 1st tier nations have birth rates falling off a cliff and if isn't change will become extinct. The good and bad for viet guys is that in vietnam, I think vietnam is growing very fast and in 20 years vietnam might become a tier 1 country. Which lifts their global value in the dating market and allows them to compete for women more. But for the time being there will be pain. A middle class guy in a 1st tier country becomes the top 20% of a lower tier country. Its a harsh life for many men now and endless competition and struggle. I don't really choose my dates based on which 'tier' they belong to. If I vibe with the person and we are the same page, then I'll go for it. It all boils down to compatibility. Certain qualities which would be highly regarded in the West may not hold in Asian countries. So I don't see how it's possible to establish a 'hierarchy of quality' of potential dating mates. I think overall, Viet guys in Vietnam are still doing well. They have a lot of competitive advantages (like I said in the video) and many Viet girls adore those traits. No, its ALWAYS the other way around more than 90% of the time. Subconsciously, women always date up and men date down. Theres a science behind this. Because it happens subconsciously, women sometimes don't even realize that this is taking place but in the end the results never lie. Anyways, I'd like to get a viet guys perspective on this once I go back to vietnam in the future as he's the one probably witnessing it first hand. I also came to the same conclusion and is why I declined so many dates with Viet women. Better to leave those women for them. That and I couldn't bond very well with them to begin with due to being VietAm. Theres something about bonding with other VietAm over the Viet western experience that you can't find with others. But after living in different countries and being in asia for extended amounts of time, I can tell you that what asian americans think of asians in asia both economically, culturally, socially are completely outdated. Things are changing fast over there and the youngsters are pretty westernized and influenced by Hollywood and American music and stuff. Some asians from asia who studied in international schools speak better English than asians that actually live in the US. You'd be surprised that culturally there are some over there who aren't as different as you like you think, worlds becoming very globalized. Even the vietnamese language have evolved in the last 60-70 years. Most of the vietnamese we know from our parents are basically time capsuled vietnamese that will die out over time and havent caught up with modern vietnamese language in vietnam. There are so so so so so many things asian americans get wrong about asia.
Very interesting topic. I think its true that modern viet girls have recently prefered dating Western guyz. I personally like dating Western guyz too, not only because of their appearance (tall, handsome as hell 😂) and charisma, but also their interesting lifestyle. They have more hobbies and interests, they do fun things in their free time, not just "nhậu" and "cafe tám". But i think the "9x 10x generations" have more or less realized the threats you mentioned and started making changes, well at least thats what i have observed from my male friends. But again, its just very personal and from my own experience
My VN ex told me about this lack of hobbies, particularly in older generations. I was really confused about that at first, but I think it just reflects the later economic development of Vietnam compared to my country of Finland. Finnish guys in the 1940s or 50s probably didn't have many hobbies either, and their minds were focused on making a livelihood and simple forms of recreation after long days at work. I've also noticed that VN girls are much, much easier to date than Finnish girls. I in fact have way more experience of succesful relationships with VN girls for that reason. So please do keep sending over the few girls you have left in your country 😂

Its all a hierarchy man, and the worse is for men at the bottom tier of less developed countries. @@hautran7625 interesting analysis. I agree Vietnam will be on the come-up and Viet guys will get their chance in the spotlight. I also came to the same conclusion and is why I declined so many dates with Viet women. Better to leave those women for them. That and I couldn't bond very well with them to begin with due to being VietAm. Theres something about bonding with other VietAm over the Viet western experience that you can't find with others. They just get the jokes, customs, pop culture, and so on, plus they can speak fluent English and Viet to boot. Well the Viet part varies haha. I imagine its super important for raising kids too. This coming from a guy whos dated the rainbow, asians and non-asians alike.

But after living in different countries and being in asia for extended amounts of time, I can tell you that what asian americans think of asians in asia both economically, culturally, socially are completely outdated. Things are changing fast over there and the youngsters are pretty westernized and influenced by Hollywood and American music and stuff. Some asians from asia who studied in international schools speak better English than asians that actually live in the US. You'd be surprised that culturally there are some over there who aren't as different as you like you think, worlds becoming very globalized. Even the vietnamese language have evolved in the last 60-70 years. Most of the vietnamese we know from our parents are basically time capsuled vietnamese that will die out over time and havent caught up with modern vietnamese language in vietnam. There are so so so so so many things asian americans get wrong about asia.
Very interesting topic. I think its true that modern viet girls have recently prefered dating Western guyz. I personally like dating Western guyz too, not only because of their appearance (tall, handsome as hell 😂) and charisma, but also their interesting lifestyle. They have more hobbies and interests, they do fun things in their free time, not just "nhậu" and "cafe tám". But i think the "9x 10x generations" have more or less realized the threats you mentioned and started making changes, well at least thats what i have observed from my male friends. But again, its just very personal and from my own experience

My VN ex told me about this lack of hobbies, particularly in older generations. I was really confused about that at first, but I think it just reflects the later economic development of Vietnam compared to my country of Finland. Finnish guys in the 1940s or 50s probably didn't have many hobbies either, and their minds were focused on making a livelihood and simple forms of recreation after long days at work.
I've also noticed that VN girls are much, much easier to date than Finnish girls. I in fact have way more experience of succesful relationships with VN girls for that reason. So please do keep sending over the few girls you have left in your country 😂

I guess once vietnam becomes a fully developed country (which i think it will in 20-30 years) they will go to less developed neighboring countries.
Its all a hierarchy man, and the worse is for men at the bottom tier of less developed countries. Men in 1st world guys can date girls in developing countries, if in their own country they are not the top 20%. But men in less developed countries have no such option and likely have to accept their fate that they will be alone for the rest of their life. The worst fate is to be born as a poor or average man in a developing country these days and watch as all the local women get swooped up by foreigners.
