Internet Trends & Young Women's Role Models | Millennial Talk

Young women, like myself, always want to search for a role model, who we could look up to and who could give us directions in life. However, when we start to turn to social media for inspiration, we face the risks of not knowing what reality actually is. The collapse of traditional values also add on to the problem. I agree; the nightlife in HCMC is so good! People, especially young ppl, EVERYwhere - parks, coffee shops, the river... - enjoying foods & drinks from street vendors, and each other's company. Such a vibrant and colourful city with everything at your doorstep. I'm back in my hometown Melbourne now, and I miss Saigon soooo much!
Did the German guy take you away from UA-cam forever? I am living in Saigon, my home in Australia is Brisbane and I have lived in Germany for a total of 8 years. I never thought of Germans as the Asians from the West :) I'll ask a few German's here in Saigon and see what they say :)
Gotta love when she says the broad accent is when you get to the outback and away from the city then uses Steve Irwin as an example .. someone should mention he might be known for travelling to all sorts of places but his home was in (or very near depending on where you put the borders) to Brisbane. Oh and there are many more accents .. try coming to the west .. different (and better) again!
Ha-ha, as somebody who was born outside Australia, I totally understand how the differences stick out at the beginning. Just to turn the tables, it used to weird me out that Vietnamese people would often ask about your age and marital status, even if you've just met. In many cultures, that would be impolite. It's not something you'd weave into small talk!
........what ever happened to the Confused Avocado? please give some more of your views........
The supermarkets and most other retail outlets used to shut at 6pm, except for Late Night Shopping night, where they'd be open until 9pm. That was Thursdays in the suburbs, and Fridays in the city. Saturday they'd shut at 12pm, and Sundays they wouldn't be open at all. Now one of the supermarkets in my town shuts at 7pm, the other 9pm, but all of the other shops in the mall will be shut by 6pm if not before. It's circular effect, no point being open if nobody is out shopping, no point being out shopping if everything is shut.
There is a 4th type of Aussie accent. FNQ (Far north Queensland) that is very different to anywhere else.
My Country South Australian accent doesn't sound like Steve Irwin's accent either. I've put videos on FB and my online mates from Brisbane and Sydney said they have trouble following what I'm talking about because my accent is so strong.
Having spent a little time in Vietnam, I have to say that I was amazed at how friendly and accepting the people are to westeners especially considering the awful history of what we did to the peole and their country.
i dont actually care about the races or genders of the charachters in the tv shows i watch as long as they are not obviously swapping something out purely for the sake of including a race or gender that clearly doesnt have a role to play, where they are there just to make up numbers inn the quota .and yes they actully have quotas in the production of these shows these days. What really starts to annoy me is when besides adding all of these nonessential characters they go too far the other way and start writing all of the straight white guys as stupid mean cruel ,mysogynistic and any other stereotype thats going around in popular culture these days. it feels like instead of including other cultres and genders im just being demonised, just like anything else people cant seem to get the mix right when making changes in society and go too far the other way from being better to one group of people they instead change their focus to being terrible to another. if diversity has to be forced then were not doing it right its plain and simple
Sot on, on almost all, FYI Starbucks does not sell coffee.
What the hell do they do with toilet paper in Vietnam 😢

People from all English-speaking countries shorten words in their English languages but Australians shorten all words in their English language! 🌎 🌍 🌏 🇦🇺
You really need to improve your pronunciation for speaking English.
Your approach to productivity is motivating. I think I’ll try some of these strategies myself. Also, I came across ResuBot recently, seems like it could be useful for anyone revamping their resume.
This was a refreshing take on unemployment. I’ve been trying to find a balance too. Just a heads up, if anyone needs help with resumes, Resubot is worth checking out.
Thanks for sharing your journey. It's nice to see someone making the most out of their time off. I’ve heard about ResuBot, it sounds like a good way to enhance your resume when the time comes.
I love how you structure your day. It's inspiring. I might look into tools like Resubot for my resume, just to keep everything organized.
This video is so relatable. I recently quit my job too and I've been trying to figure out how to stay productive. Your tips are super helpful.

Wonderful critique, CA. Instead of thinking in terms of "good and evil," I find it more useful to relate all this human attitude towards money, debt, morality through the lens of (psychology's) Attachment Theory. In other words, are we individually and collectively "filtering" and "contaminating" our economic exchanges through healthy, avoidant, anxious, or disorganized "attachment styles." "Pre-pscychoanalysis " eras did not have the benefit of this new framework understanding of the "human condition." Thus, they spoke of "good and evil" rather than "healthy or pathological" (narcissism, depression, psychopathy, etc.). These peoples of former times were, first and foremost, plagued with superstition regardless of their peaceable or warlike "dispositions." Now, many philosophers and psychology pioneers DID relate our economy to our psychology. Nietzsche seemed to have got that ball rolling and later, Arendt with her Human Condition and Veblen with his invidious distinction/conspicuous consumption and Wilhelm Reich with his emotional plague/work democracy and Marcuse with his repressive desublimation and Deleuze with his anti-oedipus, and many others! I believe shifts to healthy economic exchange (here, I promote NEED-based worker owned cooperatives and local family farms and artisanal craftmanship!) must BEGIN with new parenting and other relationship strategies based in healthy attachment formation. It is our anxious, disorganized, avoidant attachments that lead us to compulsive/conspicuous consumption and harmful toxic entertainment crazes and things like hoarding and obesity. Let us go "beyond good and evil" towards Wilhelm Reich's Work Democracy in our most life affirming expressions of "love, work, and knowledge." This all must begin with nurturing, protecting, and valuing our most precious blessing, our young!
I've heard that in some countries, there's a bin next to the toilet where people throw their used toilet paper in, which somebody will empty later, because the plumbing can't handle toilet paper.
Excuse me if I sound ignorant, this is the first and only video I came across of yours. Have you done content where you've discuss this exact issue with a fellow young person from the South? Or what about discussions with any viet kieu, not just US but anywhere around the world? It would be very interesting to have a 3-way discussion amongst a young North Viet local (you) + South Viet local + a first-generation Viet Kieu (I guess I would fit that category) There's quite a lot of things I disagree you with.... honestly, a majority of it lol. But you do a great job articulating your points well and explaining your thoughts in a rational way, where it's very easy for ordinary and outside people to understand and grasp. .... And while I'm still here, there's just a few things I'd like to express or respond to. If you're down for a deep discussion with a first-generation viet kieu who has half of his family in the US and the other half still in Vietnam, I would be totally down. It could be a video put up on your UA-cam channel for the public, or even just a 1-on-1 private conversation. I just want a better understanding of each other, where we're coming from, and what we want for our people, that's all. There's many things you stated that I definitely have strong reactions too (heh) but I'm just gonna point out 3 specific ones. The three statements I want to address: "South Vietnam was just a puppet state for the US" North Vietnam was a puppet state to China and Soviet Union, receiving military and economic aid, long before US got actively involved and aided South Vietnam. US did not invade anything or anybody. South Vietnam asked for US aid, and that's when they finally came in. "We ain't poking anybody"... North Vietnamese forces mobilized and started encroaching and invading towards South Vietnam, along with using Cambodia and Laos as part of their operations. And they persecuted, and sometimes even executed, various religious and ethnic groups along the way. Catholics, Hmong, to name a few... anybody they deemed as threats to their end goal and mission since these groups were mostly anti-communist. And the persecution and killings still continued after the Fall of Saigon and the end of the war, with no US assistance present anymore. Almost all of the fighting happened in South Vietnam because of the Northern invasion into the south. North Vietnam remained relatively untouched because the main goal of South Vietnam and US was just trying to defend southern territory and not go offensive into the north. "It's not the Fall of Saigon, it's the Rise of Our Independence" To many southerners, as well as all the viet kieu that managed to escape, it was a hostile takeover by one party and entity trying to impose their will and power onto half a country that didn't want it, and a failure of fighting against an invading oppressive force. Once Saigon fell, did Vietnam truly gain full independence from external forces? The citizens of Vietnam were left with a one party government they had to abide by, along with this "new" Vietnam having obligations to China and the Soviet Union. It certainly doesn't feel free. I would argue no, that is not independence. Meanwhile, the viet kieu were (and still ARE) enjoying much freer lives in the countries they took refuge in. Pardon in advance, but you seem young. LIke born after mid-90's. If that's the case, you grew up in a great time where Vietnam finally starting loosening up on its strict socialist policies, starting opening up its borders, and transitioned into a market economy to join the rest of the world in the global economy. I get the feeling you would be more jaded by CPV-controlled Vietnam if you were born 10 years earlier. Vietnam was hell and was struggling economically. Sorry if any of my responses come off as harsh, I'm just trying to explain it as objective as possible. I'm not here to antagonize you or anyone here. I know I'll probably get a lot of downvotes regardless, based on the audience your channel has. I just think it's beneficial for everyone to have open discussions that involve everyone, not just on the two sides but also those who take no side and are the gray area or have no skin in the game. Open, constructive, and very human conversation... I think that's something we can all universally agree on right? EDIT: Just a few things I forgot to mention... Regarding certain instances where prominent Americans not saluting the flag, it is not about being disrespecting the country, it's disapproving and taking a stand against the actions of the US government at that moment and time. A very apt example were the millions of Americans protesting the Vietnam (American) War right at the nation's capital. Americans and the West, and probably many other non-communist, non-dictatorial countries believe the government and its people are separate and not the same. The government is representative of us, they work for us. Our money, the taxpayers, are the ones employing them. The Trumpist burning the flag you brought up... that is a prime example of being anti-American because his presidential candidate didn't win in a fair election. These people don't follow the rules set out by our constitution and by our founding fathers. Pretty much any sane American will not condone that behavior. It's like burning a book of classical literature. Also in regards to taking pride in one's own country...there's two major factors: - One, countries with great power and influence will relatively not flag wave or bear. Of course the people are proud of their country, but they don't want to showboat it to the rest of the world. It's not a good look. On the flipside, a country that has seen mostly struggles, wars, tragedies, and just trying to scrap its way up, you'll see way more of its citizens flag waving and bearing. Successes are so far few and in-between for these folks, it's hard to contain their enjoyment when good things finally happen. And EVERYONE loves a good underdog story. It's a power dynamic, it's not a good look for the big guys to wave the big stick, it's a great look when the small guys celebrate their achievements and feats. - And two, recent history of a country... when the country was responsible for some atrocity, war, genocide, or anything of that sort in its recent history, the citizens of that country rightfully so tend to not be proud of it, and thus no flag waving. Prime example... you brought up Germany. Well, we all know what they did less than a century ago.
Good luck with that modern mindset. Why do you think the “white” (curious use of words but whatever) foreigners are over there and the surrounding countries? But honestly I am glad you think how you do and completely respect your difference of opinion it’s great that we are all honest about what we want in our relationships. Traditional men are happy to pass on modern women for modern men to find.
Don't forget the "health and safety engineers" which are... cleaners. Necessary for sure, but my goodness did they really need a condescending title like that? Can't we just call them cleaners? Imagine what it does to everyone else when you have to explain what a health and safety engineer is (because no one knows what the hell that means, which is by design), setting high expectations and then to hear that you are a cleaner. I think that puts a bigger dent in your reputation then just saying you keeping the place clean.
Thank you for this video, I learned many new things <3 :)
Blah blah blah blah I think you should save up some money and get a plastic surgery.
I'm Colombian married to Vietnamese man. There are pros and cons. Of course my experience is not the whole general experience but seeing Vietnamese men at work and living with one, I would say, I think they hard workers but coming from a Latin culture I find them too soft and hard to connect emotionally and lazy and selfish. The good thing I guess apparently are more home oriented and family oriented than Latin guys , I see less likelihood to cheat, they are generous. You can't have everything I know my husband has his complains too.
People compensate the emptiness of bullshit jobs with status. So their entire existence consists in obsessing about status, because it's a poor substitute for the lack of meaning in their lives.
Interesting HCM and JFK have the same quote
I realise it’s quite an old video, but I think you nailed the positives and just the difference. Also, we have a Garden City shopping centre here in Perth (in the suburb of Booragoon) that has always been called Garbo. 🤣 I hope you’re still here and enjoying Australia. 😊👍
David wrote a huge book where he explicitly rejects the notion of human beings who are "inherently good". Check the Dawn of Humanity.
Do you have a boyfriend?
Tôi đã sống ở Mỹ 45 năm và tôi vừa kết hôn với một phụ nữ Việt Nam kém tôi 20 tuổi. Cô ấy từ chối kết hôn với một người ở quê nhà. Tất cả chúng ta đều cảm thấy thương cho những người đàn ông Việt Nam nghèo khổ sống dưới chế độ cộng sản. Chế độ độc tài cộng sản tham nhũng đang ngăn cản Việt Nam trở thành một quốc gia giàu có và hùng mạnh. Để Việt Nam trở thành một quốc gia vĩ đại, chúng ta phải ngay lập tức xóa bỏ chủ nghĩa cộng sản. I have been living in America for 45 years and I just married a Vietnamese lady 20 years younger than me. She refused to marry someone from back home. We all feel sorry for poor Vietnamese men living under communism. The corrupt communist dictatorship is keeping Vietnam from being a rich and powerful nation. In order for Vietnam to be a great nation, we must immediately get rid of communism.
You speak very good English, in saying that your accent is almost Aussie. I hope you enjoy your life in Australia. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
It's not feeling average that's the problem it's the bar for success that keeps getting raised. My parents had low paying jobs and they managed to have house, two cars raised two kids... Do you think that's possible now. A mediocre drawer is not going to hired for a graphic designer. A mediocre photographer won't sell there photos to pay the bills. You have to be extraordinary now to even have a chance at a comfortable life
Be warned that there are some (fortunately very few) businesses in Australia where you will come across poor customer service. I worked in a government department and I have worked with colleagues who would gloat about the customers they have antagonised. I have also encountered retail outlets where the salesperson is clearly in the wrong profession. The message is, Australia does have its share of arseholes.
I love the channel name.
We lost her to a white guy 😢
I think BS Jobs does point at another socialtal/cultural problem: "Why is NOT working considered lazy?" and "Why are we forced to prioritize work so much over other aspects of life?" We COULD work 32... 24... Even 16 hour workweeks... But our system chooses not to. Working productively shouldn't be rewarded with more work. It should be rewarded with more time off/money, or whatever that worker values most. I believe UBI would be 1 step towards a better world. It'd produce tangible impact in people's live, right now.
Does anyone know what happened to this girl?
yes BS ♥️✨💫😭🫡 finally someone speaking facts
You women worship Mi Chang 😂
lol anti vaxxers are idiots? oh how badly your opinions have aged
I think I do bullshit, but I dont think I have a bullshit job. It's necessary bullshit like writing people's awards for bonuses, or writing performance reports on the work they do (if I didnt do that, on what basis would they be promoted? Whats the alternative system?), or acting as a shock absorber for bullshit from higher leadership
1% cows! Brilliant. You’re very talented. Hope you are still doing something in this field. Maybe we are moving toward a time when the ethnicity of an actor is not the point, but rather, the talent.
