That's awesome! I have a similar idea to try to put the space elevator in the center of my storage to make it easy to ship out parts for each phase.
Are u think space elevator at the same level with storage or storage above it? Cause large circles are real damn annoying to build. Tho I do u do think that's a better looking idea.
@SirsCrab i don't find the circles themselves annoying, but trying to find the correct snap points for Everything built on top of the round floor is a nightmare

Can you do a tutorial on the starter factory? I have trouble automating Iron plates and rotors.
I am sorry to tell you but I suck at tutorials. I just do things automatically so thinking and explaining it is hard. But totalxclips does really good beginner tutorials and so does spectrumDad. I would suggest looking for tutorials by them.

How are you using signs as actual lights?
In all the other videos I've seen they don't actually light anything up and are just glowy, same when I try it in my game.
I have lumen on. so they do crazy light stuff. most people don't have it on cause its GPU heavy, and it makes your game run slower when you have a lot of lights all bouncing around.
love this series. currently builing a belt-only world without central storage, just relying on the item cloud, except concrete. The Items on the belt clipping through the walkway at 14:04 looks a bit wired :) will you ficsit ?

Why have a storage room when we can now have all our resources available thanks to the dimensional chest ?
Because they only upload a certain number of items a min. and I usually need more. and if I forget a large number of like 3 specific items I don't have to jump around the map to different factories. its all in one place.
@@SirsCrab In reality, there is no limit to how much each resource can fill this storage. You just need to use several for each one that is frequently consumed by your blueprints. Getting 1200 concrete per minute is doable !

yes. granted I was shoveling curry into my face for the storage room build. so maybe i was just hungry from water.

The simple answer without getting into the math is: I use a lot of resources. There are only 200 dimensional depots available. That's not enough item upload for me. So I store everything in one place to make it easily accessible so I don't have to run around the map every time I forget one or two items.
@@SirsCrab do you feel like getting into the math? because it still doesn't make any sense. you do not need all 200 resources to build, you can put multiple depots on the same item and you can get 240/min with just one. there's very little out there that you'll need more than 240/min on. unless you're using mods to drop whole factories at once of course

Nothing more useless than a central storage room since 1.0. Well built though and quite the looker.

Completely disagree! Dimensional storage is way to limited to be of any real use
@@novoca1n3 240 items/min with each depot and you can put multiple on the same item to get double+ of that. way too limited? maybe at the very beginning. there is absolutely no point of this whole enormous thing other than "cool, now i'll never come back here again"
@@andreiisatchenko2689 Seems you completely miss the point of building in factory games. Some take the minimalist approach while others enjoy building massive infrastructure. There's no wrong or right way of doing anything in this game.
@@novoca1n3 you’re right. There is no right or wrong way. There’s nothing wrong with building whatever you want, it’s just mostly useless now to build a central storage. I build huge and I’ve not been able to build faster than the dimensional depots store items. I’ve six on concrete, good luck trying to place stuff faster than 1440 concrete/min unless again, you’re placing whole factories down with mods
