It’s a process that I really, really want to make my own, but I’m constantly second-guessing myself between maximizing power output, optimizing resources with alt recipes, or scaling up easy ratios. I believe easy ratios is going to be the one winning.
Very nice Factory! Because I get too overwhelmed by big projects, I do my oil factory in modules. I do 5 refineries at a time with 4 blenders, 3 water extractors and 20 Fuel Generators. It takes alot more space, but it helps me stay organized. I am about to start my Nuclear factory with just 10. I am already overwhelmed lol. Awesome job Xaos!
Just finished my nuclear production yesterday. Mk 3 miner on impure node, fully overclocked, gave me 300/min uranium ore. 12 manufacturers making alt recipe for encased uranium cells, feeding 12 manufacturers making alt recipe for fuel rods gave me enough rods to feed 36 reactors. Instead I overclocked 18 of them to 2x, and after 30 hours of prep work bringing all the materials to feed them, I had 90k MW, preparing me for the next phase of making nuclear pasta.
@@n3zum1 So from what I understand, and I hope Xaos corrects me if I am wrong, the headlift is shared by all pipes in a closed system. Because the lone water extractor pumps the water as high as he needs it to be, and then that same pipe comes back down into the whole system, the game takes into account that lone pipe's headlift and applies it everywhere. At least this is what I got.
Just about to plan my 1.0 fuel power using packaged diluted fuel, and this is inspiring! While I may change the layout and scale, this was so informative! Great explanations on what issues you ran into.
You could just package everything at the bottom level and unpackage at the top. That gets rid of ALL headlift issues, since you only ever have fluid coming out at the top floor
@@100timezcooler but then the pipes wouldn’t be adding to the look. I do less efficient things like this sometimes just because it looks better (sometimes on purpose, and sometimes by accident when I realise and do “doh!” moment!
If you can source the sulfur and coal, you can take it a step further and process the fuel into turbofuel, you can double the net power output from the same quantity of crude.
I've actually never invested as much time in a world before, so it's my first time doing this, and I find the calculations, the possibilities, the size, the scale, the elegance of the projects possible in this game to be simply fascinating.

I’ve basically made the same factory, same recipes and amount of power generated, except I didn’t stop at fuel and went all the way to rocket fuel. And instead of all that oil I just used one 600 line. After using 3 of those power booster things and the other power plants from my save I got my total production up to 200GW I’m very happy with myself if you couldn’t tell 😁
Great video! Glad you took the time to talk us through it. After I built a turbo fuel power station I started working on a little city of road, rail and individual buildings to build the basics (each starting from the ore). I half regret it now, as it’s taking me an age.
Diluted fuel and nitro rocket fuel is way more efficient (in the next phase) but if you are new to the game a good first build. That's the whole point of a sandbox factory building game, we each find our own path! Good overall vid though.

You can do more with another recipe without package/unpacking. You use old recipes from old updates. use the recipe for obtaining diluted fuel from water and fuel oil in a mixer, rather than packaging and unpacking
I made a smaller one of these using blenders, i don't have any aluminum being made, so i just used materials i found from drop pods, there's so much aluminum, computers, and heavy frames, so i was able to finish phase 3 and unlock blenders all without making computers, heavy frames, or any aluminum products My current powerplant makes 17580MW, which I've attached to batteries and two factories making everything i need to make a turbo fuel plant at the blue crater lake, using blenders! I didn't want to deal with packaging
It's not about power efficiency, but crude oil efficiency, if you use normal heavy oil residue/crude oil to fuel, it get less compare to diluted (package or blender it's same)
this set up will be redone when i go into rocket fuel. but for now i need a mid tier base and a lot of construction before i get there, so i might as well get power set before then.
to be honest i think you should have gone all in with the 2 half-circles cut off from the thing and copied it on the subsequent floors.... also made me think if you should include a outwards half circles on the seaside halves sides but theres some rock in the way and then when you were talking about drones taking the polymer resin away from there at some point it made me think of the drones blocky form and i was like if you squint a lot you could add wings to that building and make it kinda look like a drone.... so making the wings somewhere like the water packager height and to hold the drone ports on each side of the building could be something... and it should probably be high enough to not clip with anything on the sides... on a side note to decoration.. because its slightly elevated from the ground have you considered adding lights there to make the underside of the building glow with some color? also flood lights lighting the water extraction area popped into my head as an idea... perhaps not with purely white light but for example with a light blue or red tint for example could work out as a aesthetic to indicate there is some light to go out there to fix stuff when it breaks type of deal...

This is nuts because i did 1200 oil and made 80k power with this set up and the hardest part to me besides the damn packagers was the compacted coal (because i did turbo fuel). i ended up doing 16 overclocked and slooped ... so i didnt have to get rescources from everywhere at blue crater. I also did containers for the empty cans at first and just left 4 full and 4 empty but they kept doing weird shit. i did 320 gens ( did 4 rows of 80 needs a pump every 10 with long lines)... and it took like 70 hours. lol well powers solved for a while at least.
@@ppeez you make 4 lines of 300 so T1 pipes into 10 refieries each so 40 , then making heavy oil res that 1600 a min you put that into 53 refieries last one uncerclocked at 33 percent making diluted packaged fuel , wich makes 3180 fuel per min then you take that and put that into unpackagers and then128 refineries with compacted coal and get 2400 turbi fuel per min and then make 4 rows of 80 fuel generators .. and put a pump every ten to keep the line going. 320 x 250 a Gen thats 80GW with 3 power boosters im making 105GW turbo fuel burns at a slower rate 7.5
There is a plan. if i make fuel, and make power with that fuel, then i will have enough power to make turbo fuel, and then rocket fuel. if i make a big station for rocket fuel at first, its not going to work.
Are you over clocking the refineries? My math is only adding up 80 heavy oil residue refineries getting 3200 crude oil. Where the 192 Diluted packaged fuel refineries need 5760 heavy oil residue. Am I missing something?
@DrawingXaos still have to use a 600 pipe an if you center it out an do the math you get the lift you need to package the water on a floor just above an use 0 pumps

i dont get it i have 2 power pkants my small one with 32 fuel generator and my big one with 456 so total of 488 on 250% i check every plant so many times it runs perfectly with full tanks, but my power generation is on 299800 with minimal fluctuations but normaly its need to be a perfekt 305000 MW this triggers me so much ich checked everything so many times
@@krolgosh4055 biggest problems are: 1. it takes away from time spent on actually completing the game 2. it takes tons of resources more than the rocket fuel setup (100% more than for the stock rocket fuel, 70% more than for the nitro rocket fuel), these resources could be spent on actually completing the game 3. it uses way more power for the same power output than the rocket fuel recipe
ok, everything else is handy and dandy, really man I did not know that one water tower can work for all 100 water extractors.... I know that one tower worked for one 600 pipe and was doing every several extractors set up with their own water towers, but this single one working for all of them..... jesus....

Now if you ever want to go step further, then unlock turbofuel from MAM research. With compacted coal added to fuel, you could use less than half of that total fuel and still produce more power when fuel gens use turbofuel. For example, to produce 150,000 MW, you would need 5400 fuel (9x600 pipes), which is pumped to 240 Refinery (to produce turbofuel, for which you need total of 3600 compacted coal (3600 coal + 3600 sulfur)). Total turbofuel produced would be 4500, which is enough for 600 fuel gens. And total amount of crude oil needed is 2025.

no overclocking on the refineries. 4,320 Crude oil, makes 5,760 HOR, to make 11,520 Diluted packaged fuel.

your best bet is to cut off groups of generators and find the ones that are not running the best, and work backwards from there.

Actually if you want to make rocket, turbo and rocket standard are the most efficient recipes because you can recycle the compacted coal.
