- The Trading Taps number in Riverdance 2002. This performance shows the clash between Irish Step Dance and American Tap Dance. It demonstrates the difference between both styles of dance, but also has lots of humor in the interaction between the dancers.
I wasn't able to see riverdance the show until 2022 but it was well worth waiting for
I really enjoyed this, because we spend so much time obsessing about our differences that we can't appreciate our common history!!
They added a third dancer and this battle between Irish and American dancers is the best part of the show.
Trading Taps is my favorite number from the show. This one is new to me though; different dancers and musicians and slightly different routine, some new steps added in. I planned to buy the DVDs this week for Riverdance and Lord of the Dance. Looks like I'm gonna have to get more than one version of Riverdance. It's all good; more great dancers to enjoy.
I love the original with Colin Dunne so much, but I prefer this version for the tap dancing routines. Love Riverdance :) Éirinn go Brách!
i just saw riverdance about a week ago and this was my favorite part. it's so awesome
favorite part of riverdance when i saw it. Beautiful music awesome dance.
Very talented ensemble dancing!!
Such an amazing performance both the teams are pretty amazing but I am an irish dancer and their both amazing 😃
I am an Irish dancer too, but the taps on this are amazing.
Love this scene the most, laughed like crazy when they were imitating each others styles :P.
this never bores me
WELL DONE!!! Great job!!! Amazing routine!... Love it!!!
but Dunne is Dunne! Nobody can beat him...
The beat seems to be a bit faster than the 1995 performance, but there were some very welcome additions found here. Great to see a both sides equal in number.
i actually went to go see this during its 'farewell' shows, and hands down, this was my fav
This was amazing live in Detroit!
I remember seeing this at NY city center and they had a female tape dancer in the mix. My favorite scene of the show.
This one is good, but I prefer Colin's. It's not just the dancing, but the acting, too. Colin's feels more natural, where as this feels more staged and "Broadway"
HERMOSO, TODO LO QUE SEA BAILE, ME ALEGRA HABER ENCONTRADO ESTE VIDEO
I grew up watching Colin Dunne's version, and he's great, but I have to say I prefer this guy. I like how in control of all of his movements he is. Besides, the tap dancer in the white t shirt is hilarious. :D This is my favorite number in the show.
this is my favourite part!! thank you!!!
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ya, I also like that Colin's & al.'s version better.
Tapdance fighting !
high quality really does count XD
where can i find this song?
Almost everything you see in Riverdance and equivalent shows is modern Irish dance... You just can't compare that to traditional Irish dance. For the rest I second arkantos69's comment
En Perú tenemos zapateadores en Ica - El Carmen ♥
Is this still Eileen Ivers still playing lead fiddle in this show, or no?
Qual o nome dessa musica?Eu preciso pra trabalho do colegio alguem pode me ajuda?
What is the name of this song? I need to work from school can someone help me?
I definitely prefer Colin Dunne in this.
Qual o nome dessa musica???eu preciso pra trabalho do colegio alguem pode me ajuda????
It was cute
ME E-N-C-A-N-T-A *-* ♥
Colin Dunne and the dancers from live from New York were feeling the music and the dance, whereas in this one this looked way to scripted, and choppy. The One Live from new york was just... Down to earth, I don't know but its got that something special unlike this. Amazing talent here though as well.
I like the 1991 version better!!
@pinktwinkletoes89 use video to mp3 just copy the url off youtube then paste it :D
Anyone else think the lead guy looks suspiciously like Ben Stiller? lol
But the american taping is allot more swagy, i myself am a western tapper (Tap dancing) rather then being all strong and stiff like the irish step dance tap dancing is a bit more let loose.
0:52 Eddie Murphy on the left! =D
@mkurnat
I was thinking the same exact thing
what is the name of this song ?
It should be a mix between Colin Dunne and the dancers from Live from New York City, and musicians from this one... I just can't stand the awful fiddling action in Live from NYC...
@mkurnat Hahhahahahaha, exactly what was I thinking, but i thought It was just my imagination (((:
other version was better!
Agreed!
ackward moment when afroamericans are better in tapping than white people. (not a racist reply!). These american tappers are quite better than those from the colin dunne performance, but colin dunne is far more talented than irish dancers in this show.
that’s river dancing????? why it look different??? michael flattery makes it look not so stiff. how come i never see a 300 lb dude or chic tap dance or irish dance????
Tap better
I hate jazz. Tap dancing isn't fast or free enough. They're both just a bit too chaotic. At the same time the Irish fiddle is energetic but has rhythm and patterns and the sound of the Irish dancer's shoes are so satisfying and fast and freeing yet the ruddy arms are meant to be as stiff as a board and it really ruins the freedom that the dance is meant to convey. I hate it. It would be nice if they found away to marry the two. Make both better!
