  • Fifth lap of the legendary Nordschleife with my Cressida, and the fastest one of the day. Thanks to the guy in the E46 who was the perfect lead car, moving traffic out of the way without holding me up once. Most thrilling lap I've ever done in any car on any circuit ever!
    Recorded on a GoPro Hero4 at 2,7K 24FPS.

      Im curious at your thoughts. I know it is 9 years ago 😂 but did you remember what you thought when you saw the 'old car' pushing like that in the rearview mirror?

    Easily one of the craziest laps I've ever seen around this place...
    Jaw was wide open the whole time - and that battle with the M3 was epic. I bet he was looking in his mirrors like "WTF is that thing chasing me??"

    Probably the best lap on the Ring I've ever seen. You don't have a brand new Porsche or M3 but a very well tuned old Toyota (with taste and talent) and your time is amazing. You just drive very well.
    Btw, you should get a roll-cage and rust remover. It would be better for you and your car ;)

    hey Fredrik i just got a mx32 and plan on doing a build exactly like they one you have but with a 2jzgte is there anyone you can suggest to help out with specifics on the build such as what rack and pinion used, any subframe mods trans mounts used for the 2jz... and i got like a million more... there is very little information is out there and it would be a great help if i had someone to give me some pointers as i start this build this year

    • @FredrikSoerlie
      @FredrikSoerlie  7 років тому +1

      Not really that much to tell. Everything has just been custom made to fit. Not too complicated really. But a custom subframe, engine mounts and suspension. No bought parts.

    I mirror everyone else's comments with praise for the epic driving skills. I'm crazy curious, has your suspension set-up changed greatly since you had your little write up on Speedhunters? I daily drive a 77 MX36 Cressida Wagon and the way my boat floats and bounces across the road I can't imagine somewhere underneath that body roll is something that could manage a sub-8:30 time on the Nordschleife....!!! And on Kumho road tyres...Far out. Legend-status.

    • @FredrikSoerlie
      @FredrikSoerlie  9 років тому

      Thanks man. Suspension is pretty awesome actually. Same as in the write up. Very stiff and almost no roll, despite not running arb's. It does live a little, but very controllable :)

    • @joshuamoses6773
      @joshuamoses6773 9 років тому

      Fredrik Sørlie Yea it seems to still have a mildly hard weight transfer compared to other sportier chassis, but I suppose other sportier cars can use engine power to smooth out transitions?? Definitely looks stiff, how did it go on the carousel with the ride height and stiffness? I was interested when I read the speedhunters article about the use of the KE70 steering rack; I'd really like to look into that....What's the benefits of that over the Cressida rack?

      BtG means Bridge to Gantry. It's the timing loop used for tourist laps, as you don't do the full lap. Timing starts under the first bridge after you exit the paddock, then stops as you pass the gantry at the start of the final long straight :)
