Guilherme Keimi Goto i have looked into a few scooters and might still get one. But the dual sport type bikes have appealed most to me so far. I still have a lot of time though.
Jeremiah Steele Get a dual sport. They are the definition of fun(scooters are the definition of boredom). ESPECIALLY if you have offroad paths close to you, you're gonna have the time of your life.
@MrCES22 Dangerous of you to think there is no speed limit. If its not a race, regular german road laws/rules apply. But there are no radars and thus no risk of getting a speeding ticket. Insurances usually exclude these parts of german roads for obvious reasons.
I was also surprised and the megane driver seems to do it without big efforts. However it makes perfect sense because the biker only benefits from the power to weight ratio when accelerating. No matter how good the biker is, it is almost impossible to compensate the traction of additional weigt and four wheels in the bends. Just didn't expect to notice that difference so obviously. Another example why the two wheels should be separated from the four wheels during touristenfahrten. Big fun doesn't have to come with great risks. My opinion...
Average track rider. The others were just out for a Sunday dream living session. Put a biker with race experience on that machine and POOOOF ... + 20mph lap average. Off into the distance she goes! Put Rossi on and it's a trailblaze! Great for that car to even keep up though! Kudos to the driver. It isn't a fair fight!
@@LukasM_24 Why dont you thick twats understand one does it on 2 inches of tyre, the other does it on prob 3 feet of tyre in total, dumb as fk, all of you.
Great driving by both, very interesting to see the difference between the bike pulling away on the straight sections (1:59) and how much the car gains through the corners.
Due to bikes low weights, they have far superior acceleration but a lower top speed due to engine size restrictions (frame not big enough for a large engine). Because a car has a much greater wheelbase, they can carry more speed through the corners due to increased friction with the road, and using the moment of the vehicle to increase reaction force thus friction on the outside tyres. Furthermore, since a car has a greater surface area to manipulate downforce, they also carry more speed through corners that way. The biggest factor, I already mentioned, is the wheelbase differences. Good observation!
Scott K stop talking nonsense, cars are faster in corners due to their stability, if he pushed any harder he would of high sided or low sided. That been said I can probably count on one hand the amount of road legal cars that can beat this bike in a straight line.
@@0Zolrender0 then what do you call the person riding on the back of a motorcycle, behind the person controlling it?! and what do you call a passenger riding in a car, but not driving it?! Have you ever gone for a ride in a car?! much ado over semantics!
Always difficult to judge from a video just how hard the cars are cornering but here we have a really nice visual representation of the effort involved. Very nice driving from both parties.
Why all the hate? The Megane has less than HALF the BHP/ton so it is quite respectable. Both are fast in their own respect. Of course the bike will pull away at any acceleration segments, and you see the Megane reeling in the bike at EVERY braking and cornering point.
The car is like the toyota lmp car and the bike is like the porsche! Bike just pulls away in straights but the car catches him in corners despite being heavier mikemclarenf1
Impressive, most impressive. The commitment from that biker is insane and when they accelerate out of the corners, it gives a great sense of the speed. What a talent.....awesome video.
You can occasionally see the tail lights of my bike ahead of these two riders. Tough to make out on this video. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
the driver and rider both have skills !! I can get around a track fast but add in rough road conditions and slow riders and drivers and I would have been as slow as those two bikes that got passed ... all riders think they are fast on the street but when they get too a track they realize they never even came close to the capabilities of their bike then you see a rider like this and it amazes me... it takes lots of skill /trust and a monster set of ballz to go that fast on the ring

Awesome. The cornering disadvantage of the bike and the acceleration disadvantage of the car made for an interesting run. Nice. Bet the bike was long gone on that long straight though.
It's a drive disadvantage of the rider, not the bike. People think that a car is 40% faster than a bike on a corner that's ignorance in it's purest form. Bikes can carry even more speed than a normale sportscar or a street legals supercar in mid corner.
Лоренцо Шулло lmfao I’m guessing you never ridden the ring, a civic type R with a skill driver is gonna outpace even a professional rider on this track
@@SteezeN Why people add stupid comment without understand the first? I can't reply to you man, it's just a waste of time, sorry. Just to let you know anyway. Лоренцо Шулло I was just pushing your buttons but I think a zx10r beat that record of the r1, also that r1 had very good suspension, I believe it had ktech suspension. Still there much faster production bikes now. The ring isn’t very bike friendly anyways
Simply professional driver and manufacturers don't perform tests because there is no reason and it is very risky for the drivers. The trackdays of amateurs should not even be considered for motorcycles. They suck in the 'common' circuits, you can only inage how much in the ring.
ED kratos It's not as difficult..that bike in the video weights less than 500 lbs...it's very light and easy to throw around. Fantastic driving and fantastic riding!! Both were equally impressive! Actually the Megane RS impressed the hell out of me, it was linear and strong through each turn, handled beautifully and the suspension setup seemed on point!
The biker is sure a hero ! Always took more guts to ride a bike while facing down the elements than to drive a four wheeled cage with lots of safety and comfort built in it !

For all those idiots claiming how slow is the bike or inferior, it has never been a battle between bike and a car but between character, skill, balls and enjoyment. Take megane and drive like this guy and then take a bike and try to ride like the rider. Then tell me which one is easier to ride fast. You would probably shit yourself in the first corner ;) Bikes were always about balls, cars not so much. The skill and bravery to ride like this is crazy. It is almost like TT on the Isle of Man but on a closed track, not roadracing, but pretty close (all those bumps, almost zero runoff). Front wheel is lifting off on hills so I would say he's going fucking fast. Just the car is no slouch either. On bumpy track like this cars are also much faster in corners as you basically can't lean the bike too much cause at that speed your front would either lift off and you would run into barrier or it would wash out and you lowside it and run into barrier too :) Remember cars are 80% ride, 20% driver, bikes are the opposite.
well... thats why they comment "Bikes were always about balls, cars not so much." when you tell people theyre a pussy for riding a car they get upset, because thats how tiny ego's work, it all has to fit in that tiny car
I was excited to see how both of them would handle the “Infamous Bruenchen curve”. The way the biker hit the red/white zone just before the Brunchen was so sick!!! Both of them amazing riding/driving skills👌

+Simon Thompson 7,54 for The Renault Megane, it's the same time as the Mercedes CLK DTM AMG, Porsche 911 Turbo 997 and faster than á Ferrari F430, Corvette C6 Z51 or a Dodge Viper SRT10
As you've all mentioned both are brilliant riders. The car could reel him in going through the tighter corners but man oh man the straight line acceleration on that bike is insane, once he's straightened up he is gooooone!
Incredible riding skill, enjoyed watching, with those lean angles and all the spills I’ve seen on UA-cam I imagine he was using track sticky slicks to manage those lean angle speeds. The car filming was having a very clean quick run as well!
The Megane has a power to weight ratio of around 200 bhp per ton, whereas a superbike will have a ratio more like 1000 bhp per ton. On that basis the Megane has a massive power disadvantage and does brilliantly well on handling through the bends, the bike predictably murders it on the straights. Great video, thanks for posting it.
For those of you who thought the biker wasn't fully committed going into some of those corners or the car driver wasn't keeping pace with the bike, here's the rider Nino Pallavicini doing a seven & half minute lap of the Nürburgring on a standard BMW S1000RR ua-cam.com/video/_umBGp_Z6wg/v-deo.html
Excellent video being both a bike rider and a car driver having experienced the thrills of the Nurburg Ring this video really does capture the excitement. However I must admit the skill demonstrated by both in this video is exceptional and for a mere mortal like myself I found the nurburg ring quite terrifying at times particularly on Easter bank holiday - taking e wide line on the bike into a corner at 150k only to find a Porsche snuck up on the inside at the apex. Also to see very expensive sports cars and bikes being transported away as wrecks on low loaders was a little bit disconcerting but you only live once so you've got to enjoy it 🤔
The title is misleading. For most of the video, the biker was alone. Certainly running way over 100 mph on average. But what is not told, is that the camera car not only kept up with the bike, but obviously had the potential of passing it on the straights.
That guy on the motorcycle must have balls of steel. I would never even dare to go on a racetrack on my bike when there are cars at the same time. Both drivers have insane skills and it's really a pleasure to watch.

That's insane! The Megane is incredible but I'm shocked with the skills of that guy on the motorcycle.
ua-cam.com/video/-2976rRzb3s/v-deo.html&ab_channel=xthilox
Go see Isle of Man TT
I'm more shocked that Megane could stay with him.
I suspect the bike was being kept a little bit in check.
@@babboon5764 Bikes have big disadvantages in corners and need to lower their speed much more than cars. On a straight the BMW would have blown him away in the sense you mean.
@@Rondo2ooo Oh for sure when its really twisty, but a lot of that was gentle curves which really wouldn't faze a bike.
On top of that, the S1000RR is just pehenomenally fast on acceleration. Unless & until you get chance to ride one on a track or some very empty roads its hard to appreciate just *how* fast it does accelerate.
(Vibrates through the bars like a sodding angle grinder 'though ~ Or to be exact at least the early version did)
the biker is a top lad, and he obviously knows this track like the back of his hand. I'd say he's a regular and has covered many laps round there. just watch his lines, he's no stranger to that place.
Not really sure how he's able to control his bike that well, without those massive balls getting the way.
I advise you to look up the Isle of Man TT, bike on board laps, Michael Dunlop, John. McGuinness or Guy Martin. 200 mph superbikes on country roads.
Simon Watts no I just can't. I plan on getting my first bike to commute around town, my v8 is just so thirsty and a bit of a pain to drive. I'm definitely looking to get something a bit tame
Jeremiah Steele If you're looking for something cheap, with automatic gearbox, confortable and nimble (but not fast) a scooter looks like a good choice.
Guilherme Keimi Goto i have looked into a few scooters and might still get one. But the dual sport type bikes have appealed most to me so far. I still have a lot of time though.
Jeremiah Steele
Get a dual sport.
They are the definition of fun(scooters are the definition of boredom).
ESPECIALLY if you have offroad paths close to you, you're gonna have the time of your life.
That biker was probably a pro racer getting in some practice. Fantastic lines.
Agreed. The nurbirgrind is a bumpy, challenging track with a lot of low down force technical corners.
Agreed. The nurbirgrind is a bumpy, challenging track with a lot of low down force technical corners.
@MrCES22 Dangerous of you to think there is no speed limit. If its not a race, regular german road laws/rules apply. But there are no radars and thus no risk of getting a speeding ticket. Insurances usually exclude these parts of german roads for obvious reasons.
definitely not a pro. He's fast don't get me wrong, his body position isn't perfect and he's wearing a yamaha suit on a bmw lol.
Definitely not a pro. His body positions and transitions are far from pro level. He's definitely fast though.
For me, the most amazing thing is that a Megane can stay with (mostly) a very talented rider on a superbike rocket ship. Who knew!

Nice job keeping a safe distance and great riding from the guy on the bike.
That's some pretty impressive driving too, I mean he kept it all under control
For those that get to do this kind of thing on the regular, I am extremely jealous.
From NY in the US, race safe.
It's a shame we don't have something like this over here. and no, Tail of the Dragon doesn't count.
Great illustration of bike vs car in the corners (car carries speed) and straights (bike blasts away easily).
Great driving by both, very interesting to see the difference between the bike pulling away on the straight sections (1:59) and how much the car gains through the corners.
That guy probably isn't even at a quarter throttle. A more confident rider would've absolutely blown the car away.
@@bulletz9280 cars have more grip than moto more tire contact
@@bulletz9280 Hence more risk for losing traction
Scott K stop talking nonsense, cars are faster in corners due to their stability, if he pushed any harder he would of high sided or low sided. That been said I can probably count on one hand the amount of road legal cars that can beat this bike in a straight line.

Always difficult to judge from a video just how hard the cars are cornering but here we have a really nice visual representation of the effort involved. Very nice driving from both parties.
The biker has good knowledge of the circuit.
Is that really a megane he is driving or an electric hoover?

Impressive, most impressive. The commitment from that biker is insane and when they accelerate out of the corners, it gives a great sense of the speed. What a talent.....awesome video.
holy crap, this has got to be the BEST camera angle I've ever seen on the Ring.

HeyHuey .... I’ll back you up on that as I was on the pillion 😉🤣
Im the passenger on the Megane. I confirm
They stopped the video just as I was about to overtake both of them...
Two outstanding human beings; 1 driving 1 riding. Well done to the both of you.
the driver and rider both have skills !!

Beautiful....rider has balls the size of coconuts. No margin for error, none.... hit every apex.. Kudos to the Megane driver, didn't get totally dropped by the bike... Ridden like a boss....hat off to you sir.
In 2008 with a stock R1 an amateur did 7.10 BTG.
An amateur. With a 08 stock bike with sloppy suspension and an this kind of road.
And the difference with a proper driver are enormous on a sportsbike.
Today a prof. Driver with a 600 supersport replica could definitely match the times of the 911 records.
They suck in the 'common' circuits, you can only inage how much in the ring.
the biker has 100 times more skill goddamn i dont even ride a bike but i know how fucking hard it is compared to a car.
ED kratos It's not as difficult..that bike in the video weights less than 500 lbs...it's very light and easy to throw around. The rider in the video knows the track very well and I'm not directing away from his skill which was very impressive, but responding to your comment, bikes aren't that hard to throw around in corners.
Richard Head I don't know what you're talking about because cornering well on a motorcycle is indeed difficult. Sure, you can ride on the street and take highway ramps with relative ease but track riding and/or racing is a different story.

On bumpy track like this cars are also much faster in corners as you basically can't lean the bike too much cause at that speed your front would either lift off and you would run into barrier or it would wash out and you lowside it and run into barrier too :) Remember cars are 80% ride, 20% driver, bikes are the opposite.
well... thats why they comment "Bikes were always about balls, cars not so much."
when you tell people theyre a pussy for riding a car they get upset, because thats how tiny ego's work, it all has to fit in that tiny car

Jesus fuck, that guy was on 100% attack mode through the corners. That was right at the very edge, just gorgeous driving.
The car actually did so much better than the bike in corners was the most surprising to me. Outstanding video!

Also to see very expensive sports cars and bikes being transported away as wrecks on low loaders was a little bit disconcerting but you only live once so you've got to enjoy it 🤔
Proper biker, must know the track like the back of his hand.
Whoever is riding behind and filming is fast and smooth. Both riders are awesome.

The title is misleading. For most of the video, the biker was alone. Certainly running way over 100 mph on average. But what is not told, is that the camera car not only kept up with the bike, but obviously had the potential of passing it on the straights.
This only proves that 4 contact patches are an advantage, but we already knew that.
Well, technically the rider has four also, but only uses 2 on the straits and 3 in the corners.... (knee pucks!)
I´m a sports bike lover. The biker is extremely fast. But de megane and the driver are fast too. You can see on the corners how fast the megane is.
