I believe that "he will not drink" means "he will not drown" since the girl's young man is coming by ship.♥️

Honestly most likely! There was a superstition among sailors that saying “drown” while at sea would lead to someone drowning, so that may be part of it too!

@@lovejustifiesexistence No it's old cultural slang meaning "did not drown". The man she's marrying is a sailor, and a common death was obviously drowning. Despite drinking being an issue, in the sense of this song and it's context, it's means she's happy he didn't drown.

The language spoken by the Gauls wasn’t really similar to the Goidelic languages such as Irish, Scottish Gaelic and Manx at all, but they were also Celtic like you say

I'm Scots. My mothers' ancestors were Gaelic speakers and she keeps learning although she didn't speak it as a child. She and I speak French and I speak basic Catalan. There are so many similarities between the Gaelic, French and Catalan languages. Musically, take Carlos Nunez for example. Magic!

    • @fenpsn7866

@@crywlf9103 Scottish and Irish are older than the Celtic group, and they are not a "genetic celtic people" but people who traded with the celtic groups. Although Irish is listed as a branch of celtic, all evidence suggests it belongs further up on the Indo European tree. Possibly back to the yamnaya people, an original indo european language speaking people who were the bell beakers. This doesnt mean that Irish is not connected to celtic languages, but Irish, Scottish, and Manx are probably related to all the extince old indo european languages. It could be why it thugs at so many people so deeply, like an echo of things in their own language, sounding ancient to them.
