Although Irish is listed as a branch of celtic, all evidence suggests it belongs further up on the Indo European tree. This doesnt mean that Irish is not connected to celtic languages, but Irish, Scottish, and Manx are probably related to all the extince old indo european languages. It could be why it thugs at so many people so deeply, like an echo of things in their own language, sounding ancient to them.
