This song is the best way to learn the Runic alphabet and the language - I can recognize a few runes, and learning the other ones, plus learning Old Norse and Swedish and Norwegian and Icelandic and Dutch and the other Germanic languages, so I’ve been trying to memorize most of the lyrics, and I have learned the lyrics to Gleipnir and most of the lyrics to Troll Kalla Mik and Odin and Elverhøy so far, which have pretty and really catchy melodies and vocals etc!
Music knows no difference between speech and voice.. if you listen with your heart and soul then even a song with a language that you don't know can move your entire body and bestow a feeling of peace or power on you depending on the song itself and it's roots.

This song worked itself into my mind and I just had to find the lyrics so I can sing along rather than just humming. Lo and behold, turns out this is the Elder Futhark runic ABC song. So, after decades of thinking about it, I now know my Fehu, Uruz, Thurisazes. Awake and remember, indeed. Well played, Skald. Well played.
Have you been introduced to Heilung yet? In particular, "In Maidjan". Great way to learn your Fehu, Uruz, Thuriazes... I believe they cover the whole of the runic ABCs too. 😁
@@kontrarien5721 the runes are more than an alphabet. On one level, learning the runes, the history (as much as we know from the Edda which comes third hand from iceland) and the meaning of each rune allows you not divine the future but access the intuitive nature all humans have as we view the warp and weft of fate and how everything is tied together. I find the runes to be beautiful in the natural way it enlivens us spiritually. Best of luck on your journey!
The Franks, a Germanic people akin to the Goths, Visigoths and Vandals, were raided, invaded and settled by the Norse, hence Normandy, etc. More than a little Norse blood in those French veins.
This became my favorite song just seconds into the track. It's almost indescribable. It floods my being with so many different emotions simultaneously. Absolute masterpiece!
This is amazing. The lead singer is beautiful. The music, captivating. Knowing Vikings helped build Irelands most famous trade towns. Makes me wonder if I have some of this blood in my veins. I feel this music in my soul.
Also coastal England, parts of Scotland and definitely through what's now Germany and France. Those lands and someone of Ireland (very very long ago) are the origins of my ancestry, all people influenced by or once under the rule of Nordic people. No misgivings on that as it shaped things in ancient times to what they are today. I feel the resonance, too, and wonder if it's a sense of kinship or some ancestral sense of dread. 😉
@@gabriellashimone6546 Sorry. I'm a nerd and I love what little history of the Vikings exist. I didn't mean to leave out England, or any others. They were adventurers and travelers for sure. I was researching my family tree and I am a huge part Irish, from different family members, so I was thinking, that is my best shot at having the blood. I am so tempted to get a DNA test, but It kind of freaks me out knowing my DNA would be in someone else's hand. LOL. I like your last sentence. I would say, a sprinkle of both ;) It makes me feel energy. Delicious energy.
I'm going through my annual season depression. Winter months have always made me extremely sombre of life ever since I was 9. Yes, I'm clinically diagnosed and not some self-diagnoser. I just found this band over the weekend. I've been listening to their music on repeat for the last 3 days now. This music has litterally awakened my soul out of it's annual slumber. I usually don't "get out of my funk" until spring, around April/June. But this music.. wow.. it's awakened more than my soul. I can't even describe what I'm feeling right now. I feel so powerful and energetic when I listen to this, but not in only a physical way. In many ways. I feel like I found this music when I needed to most. I hadn't had any suicidal tendencies in years until these last few months. Then they started to hit me again after I thought I was doing so well. This music has made me seen through the mist of chaotic depression. I am well, and rejuvenated again. For now.
Music had been in the old times the best elixir for disconcertment and it still works today because sounds can determine our mood. The vibrations they come with can make a sound wave that at a respective frequency can make our brain, well, "relax" (on the thoughts side) and eventually get a burst of energy or more emotional stability and motivation. Folklore related songs(or just old or well made songs) are quite the thing. Keep going.
Stay your hand brother, for Valhalla does not take those who take their own lives. Seriously though I'm glad you're still here and I'm glad you found a way out of those harmful thoughts, keep pushing on and don't give in to those negative emotions

What tavern y'all at? I'll bring the fiddle for when the brawl starts. XD
This sounds like the great soul of a people who conquered the elements and harsh environment and the great seas. I think most of all Vikings have conquered our hearts through music. I feel a kinship to their brave souls and their lust for life.

I'm a south african metalhead, for the past few years been into music like this. post 2000 music really lacks soul, feeling and passion

Must be from Normandy lol
The Franks, a Germanic people akin to the Goths, Visigoths and Vandals, were raided, invaded and settled by the Norse, hence Normandy, etc. More than a little Norse blood in those French veins.
Last time I checked, Skald was originally from Iceland. I mean they speak Icelandic accent with Old Norse in most of their songs.
it does Må Odin være med dem
@@jackwooten2374 Where did you check? Wiki says France, and the names in the description don't exactly look Icelandic.

For now.
Well my boy, you've just found music from the elders enjoy it, while it lasts
Music had been in the old times the best elixir for disconcertment and it still works today because sounds can determine our mood. The vibrations they come with can make a sound wave that at a respective frequency can make our brain, well, "relax" (on the thoughts side) and eventually get a burst of energy or more emotional stability and motivation. Folklore related songs(or just old or well made songs) are quite the thing. Keep going.
I’m happy you found this and that it helps you
