Aesop Rock, Lupe Fiasco and Blockhead collaborate on Pumpkin Seeds - a project created in an effort to raise funds and awareness for two DIY skateparks in Dayton, Ohio: the Claridge DIY in Central Dayton and the Home Ave DIY in West Dayton. In addition to the digital single, the song is also available on limited 7" vinyl. The artwork for the song was illustrated by Justin "Coro" Kaufman. Proceeds from this release will go towards funding the two skateparks in Dayton.

Aesop is quickly making himself a strong argument for greatest living since Doom passed. Since Impossible Kid, all of his solo projects have been on a completely different level, and his output is insane AND quality. Kendrick is really his only competition imo (and himself has a strong argument that can't be downplayed). Either way dude is gifting us with some of the cleanest bars ever written though

@@Bigparr43 Ever since The Spirit World album, Rhymesayers got with it and put the lyrics in the description of each Aesop song. Maye they do it with everyone else too, but Aes needed that most. What I'm saying is, those are the official lyrics. Thought a bit about it and figured he means you can't do real art and buy sports cars just like that. I dunno.

I'm definitely a fan, Impossible Kid is one of my all time favorite rap albums and was my first real cohesive intro to his music, but I can't lie and say that there aren't some head scratchers that took me a lot of rereads to understand. Aesop Rock is basically a hipster English professor turned rapper. I love him though

If he were to explain his lyrics I think a big portion of the magic would be gone, since we wouldn't have to dig ourselves for the meaning. On that note, after listening to the song a couple more times, I don't think that Lupe bar is about any cars. The whole song sounds to me like it's about taking a journey into yourself and revealing the layers of your psyche. The "uninvited company" that Aes is talking about are actually the intrussive thoughts and different approaches to life your mind comes up with. I dunno about you, but I have a whole choir in my head, that's one of the reasons Aes resonates with me to such a degree. Back to the Lupe bar, I see it like "if you're thinking from a Mario Kart (childish) level, you can't put out something complex and high quality, that's why you have to lower your standards - without settling - and soon enough, through work, you'll get there".

Wooooooow. Aesop has been one of my favorites since middle school (because of THPS4, before we lived in the same town) and Lupe has been on my radar since Touch the Sky. Neeeever would have imagined this happening, and I love how Lupe seemed to adapt to the weirdness and intricacy of Aesop's style.

Like holy shit it takes a special lyricist to hold it down with Aesop OR Lupe, and even though they're so different the way they met in the middle in such an uncompromising way is nothing short of miraculous

Like when people try to compare the strength of two superheros from entirely different creators/universes/books etc... Because at the end of the day it comes down to preference and what you look for in music. Crooked I is one of the best at what HE DOES, and Aesop Rock also... Rightfully so. But, their styles are so unalike to each other.
