The challenge that all reviewers I think have is that they have limited time with a car. Obviously if you own one you learn the quirks and adjust accordingly. Now some might say that you shouldn’t have to learn a car to that I say I have something in a nice Lexus cute-ute that you can tell your friends has a great Consumer Reports review like my refrigerator and vacuum. Now to be honest I am biased as I own a Virage. Every time I get in it is special and I have never owned a car where people chase me down on the highway to give a thumbs up or tell me at the gas station how gorgeous it is. As for my previous 911 nobody would let me into traffic…
You and I agree. Give me enough time with the car and those things that our young and impatient reviewer finds annoying will undoubtedly just fade away. It's not how the air vents feel; it's how an Aston (or any car) makes YOU feel! Even my '12 Miata or my '15 Mini Cooper S still feels special. Like in the Louis Scott review just above yours I believe you "get it" when talking about the intangibility of the Aston Martin soul. I don't own a Virage (yet) but I encourage you and others to continue to appreciate yours. Just be sure to touch redline now and then while out on Don Henley's "dark desert highway."
The Infotainment system is garbage? Nonsense! It's designed in a classic way and has all the functions you really need. I hate the modern Tesla-style with those ridiculous huge tablets. How incredibly ugly. And who wants to go into the internet when you are driving in a car like this? Besides, I love my Aston Martin pen. That's a useful asset! So much better than all the superfluous digital rubbish.
Personally, in my DB9, I have far more interested in the driving experience, which is were this car excels. 'Infotainment' is of no interest to me and IMO has no place in a drivers car.
Just imagine they kept the exteriors of the Vantage, DB9, Virage and DBS with all of the current models interior and mechanics. Thry really should have taken the 911 approach to design. The designs are timeless. They would just need few tweaks every generation. Porche had to make the 911 iconic over time through repetition. Those Astons were iconic from the moment we saw them. I don't think that they will have anoher range that was so unique and beautiful. They could have had one model that would be totally redesigned ever time. Perhaps the Vanquish. Plus they would save a lot. Can you imagine the DBS after a few decades of gentle evolution??
i think that tag is to ensure a matching numbers car at resale or auction. if the numbers dont match they lose a significant amount of value. AML would have a list of all the numbers that belong to this car in some cases they all have the same number as the chassis.
You don’t have much time but you want a colour radio display! I don’t have one, I wish I did, it’s absolutely gorgeous! As for the gas cap button, it also comes with a owners manual, I bet it is in there. And it’s not like you are not going to need to press it very often! Sorry, it’s a pretty good review ‘overall’ but you annoyances are really rather petty and to find yourself disappointed after having it for such a short time. I’m not sure what is going to please you bro!
Yes. Mercedes has spoiled the world during the R230 SL era. Yes that screen was in fact a Garmin unit. No wonder Daimler bought 10% of Aston soon after this cars production. Aston needed help and yes, they knew it.
This is sharper, more expensive, faster and more sporty than the DB9…. But not by very much. It’s halfway between the DB9 and the DBS in pretty much every aspect, price, power, sportiveness etc.
The aspects that "bother" you are aspects that many in the UK might find "charming". I would take an Aston over any other car, any day. Probably a V12 Vantage. Also, if you are complaining about infotainment and gripes...get a head cam and stop shifting with one hand like a pleb. Other than that, on a more constructive note, I think you use comparison too much and analyse cars based on their convenience rather than their soul. As a wise man once said, the comparison is the death of enjoyment. Sorry if any of this has offended you.
Well said, Louis. I would comparison shop a utilitarian Toyota Corolla and a Nissan Sentra for their convenience. Our reviewer might very well be missing the point about Aston Martin. I'm not that interested in how the air vent feels. I'm interested in how I feel behind the wheel - whether sitting in the garage or cruising down the highway. So make mine a Virage or Vantage any day please.
Sorry, but you have no idea how to do a car review. I have NEVER seen someone change gear on the paddle using their left hand! 🤔 Get some decent cameras and do it properly or don't do it at all. (from a DB9 owner)

That door style is known as a Swan Door, and AM signature. The idea being you don't kerb the door when opening it. Cool.
Don't bother reviewing another car...you have no clue about this car
He found it’s weird the engine is mounted all the way toward the cockpit instead of the front end lol

Amen.
The paddles are aluminium and leather.
Hi
I think the paddles are actually Magnesium however I don’t own one, just going on info I’ve seen on reviews, so could be wrong.
Cheers!

It swings up AND out. If it just went up it would be a scissor style.

Do you live in Maryland? I live in Maryland too.
Wich is the difference between this car and the DB9?
