"direct sequel" is kinda misleading, yes it's canon and takes place directly after the events of that game but i also wouldn't call it a "direct sequel" as it has nothing to do with 99% of the characters or plot of IW i mean, even in japan they're just calling this game "8 gaiden" similar to the last gaiden game, so think of it less as a direct sequel and more of a fun side story for infinite wealth that's completely disconnected from it's main plot

The voice acting cast for this game is stacked. Aside from Ugaki and Samoa Joe, we got First Summer Aika (Akame) and Shunsuke Daitoh (Baba) playing brand new non-likeness characters, Ayumi Tanida (Koshimizu from Yakuza 6), Munetaka Aoki (the guy playing Majima in the live action Yakuza series coming on Amazon), and Kenji Matsuda (Jiro from Kamen Rider Kiva).
Goro Majima is one of the fiercest characters I ever fought and played since playing Yakuza 0 and the first Yakuza that I had first played on ps2 and ps3, he always amazed me
Majima waking up on a beach with no memory only to randomly become a pirate somehow feels like a very Majima thing to happen
