My led's came with a black housing piece. But when i put the led in the housing, then put the housing in the Guage clustee they dont work. I tested all the leds on a battery so i know they work. Yet regular style lights work. Any ideas?
@@thesouth50 I had the same issue w/ an order, but when I re-ordered through another seller (Ebay) they worked fine. Not sure what the issue is, but it worked out. Could be contact configuration being out - different pattern? Good luck w/ your project.
@@v.e.7236 i sent the seller a message. Ill see what they say. Its a shame because this mod is really noticeable in a good way and cheap. I bent the prongs out no luck. Ive turned them every which way no luck. I tested the lights on a battery and they work fine. So it gotta be the adapters
I've had an LED bulb set for about a year because I was dreading the job but it looks pretty easy. Thanks. I have an 03 S10. I always have issues getting the dash bezel to let go. I have 2 repairs right above the 4x4 switch. That plastic gets brittle over the years. I have a cover over it now.
How did you do the headlight switch? Please respond I can’t figure it out I have taken it apart at it is a different light than the heater or the cluster
motojunkie yes headlight switch need to be soldered in with little led along with window switches and 4x4 switch if yours has it i did not bother with my s10 but i have my suburban almost complete
+Car Guy Pat How did you get everything to stay on with the airbag on/off plugged in? Everything works before I plug it in then when I do it all shuts off.
hey Man. I got the same 194 blue LED bulbs for my 1998 Olds Bravada. But I can't get them to work. I checked out your video and changed the bulbs around but I get nothing. Can you HELP.
I had that issue as well. The 194 bulbs plug into a plastic "holder". The holder is a quarter turn from locked position and removal position. On each side of it there are metal tabs that come down and make contact with the flat back of the gauge cluster. A lot of the times on the cheap eBay holders the metal tabs physically do not make contact with the copper inlays on the gauge cluster. They are either too far inwards or do not stick down far enough. I had to go in there with pliers and bend the tabs out and down, to bring them closer to the gauge cluster. Once they make contact with the copper inlays on the back of the gauge cluster circuit board, and the LED bulbs are oriented in the correct direction, It should work.
Hey there i have a blazer myself with the exact same layout, i have a stock am fm radio that came with the car, and all the lights are burnt out on it. Anyway you can do a video on it if you still have it?
I plan on doing this for my s10 xtreme. Excuse my ignorance brotha man but how many bulbs does the heater control? Im making sure to buy sufficient leds
I ordered camo wrap. Took the dash bezel off, and used a heat gun to slowly work the wrap around the bezel. It took a while to do but the slower you go the less stretched it will be. I also had to physically cut the wrap where the vents where as the vents were non removable, they were held in with melted plastic rivets.
Hey man I ordered the same lights and just did my cluster and heater ac controls. Looks great. But how did you make the headlight switch red also? And the floor lights?
+Jesse Riggins Assuming you have a blazer, or any similar GM product. For the headlight switch LED I took the "Diode" out of the red led plastic housing, and inside the headlight switch is an incandescent bulb, on a plastic stalk. Take out the incandescent bulb and put the leads from the LED down into the holes on the stalk, the holes the wire filament is in is small enough to hold the two wires together. The floor lights can be done with an easy 194 bulb. Same bulb as the ones that go into the gauge cluster. Most of the time a 194 is the correct bulb size. However, I used these LED light strips and wired them to the factory wiring harness for the floor bulbs. They are MUCH brighter than just a 194 bulb. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00IPDQWLK?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00
I believe in a 2001 sierra you have to solder the lights, they are permenant in the circuit board. My dashboard has 194 bulbs, they just turn and lock in
Should be. 99-06 was the same body style, thus same dashboard/gauge cluster. Same as the 99-06 silverados, tahoes, suburbans, avalanches, hummer h2s, etc
Awesome! I was afraid that I was going to have to solder some new lights into my 2000 Silverado only to be surprised that the bulbs weren’t a soldered connection but instead the simple little twist connectors. Very well made video! Personally I and a few other people appreciate the professional camera work and that you new what you were saying and not saying “um” like how some of the other videos were. lol You just got another subscriber ;)
Thank you for the comment! I have not made a video in some time but I think I might start making them again. I had no idea people would actually watch them, I just made them for fun.
Where did you get those t10 sockets? I have taken apart several GM products (blazer and last generation c10s) and can verify they most of them have the gray soldered bulb sockets. I grabbed some modular sockets off a junkyard 95 chevy express van which look extremely similar to those black ones in the video
So I attempted to do this to my a.c. control lights and when I waited until dark to see results the cluster lights and a.c. lights do not work. Can anyone help me out? Is it because I did not disconnect the battery?
I just tried to change the dash lights in my 01 chevy Silverado, I have the led bulbs, but I can't figure out if the old bulbs will just pop out of the holder or if I have to get new holders
Jason Workman they wont pop out because you likely have the gray soldered bulbs. You can get some modular sockets off a junkyard 95-02 chevy express van instrument cluster.
If you look on the back of the headlight switch there is a long extension into which a small bulb goes into. What I did was took apart the small t5 bulb I had. So it was no longer a red plastic wedge base. It was only a circuit board with the LED's on it and the leads coming off. If you look down the thing that holds the old bulb there are holes with wired that powered the small incandescent factory bulb. I shoved the leads for the LED down those holes. I didnt have a small enough wedge base LED bulb at the time so that worked for me
finallly a video that doesnt have horrible camera angles and some guy saying um a thousand times great video
Thank you! Much appreciated.
I agree! I also hate it in other vids when the person making the video keeps saying "so.....yeah"... nice to see an articulate vid.
Just got some red LEDs for my '02 Blazer. Much easier on the eyes. Thanks for the walk-through. Just what the Dr. ordered.

Gotta love GM plastic after it's exposed to UV light for 20 years.
And you're right. It's not hard at all.
Hi sir do you know how to remove a cluster from a 2016 equinox any help would be appreciated
Very well explained
Just did this on my 01 with original sockets and had to bend the connections on the bulb to get them to work.
How did you camo wrap the plastic around the radio
The leds for the air controls are they the same in a 2001 GMC Yukon as they are in the chevy blazer you have

What size bulbs are the underdash lights by the floorboards
Are they still holding up?

Sorry I don't have the radio anymore. I've heard that requires quite a bit of precision soldering.
I put a aftermarket one in my 98. It was under 100 bucks
what type of car shops can do this install for me? is there a general name for the kind that do it? how expensive is it usually?
How do you do the window switches on an 04 blazer does anyone know?
JHLG 250r I am pretty sure you can use t4.7 leds I bought some to to try on my 2000 blazer I will post a update soon.
Update t3 LED work with all blazer window switches.
Where did you get that costume dash?
I plan on doing this for my s10 xtreme. Excuse my ignorance brotha man but how many bulbs does the heater control? Im making sure to buy sufficient leds
I believe it was 5 or 6. An S10 xtreme is very cool. Hold onto that one.
how did u wrap your dash bezel?

Would this be generally the same installation for a 2001 Chevy Blazer?
Yes. 1998-2005 was all the same exact truck. Including the gauge cluster.
Car Guy Pat Thank you!!!
Would you happen to know if this can be done on a 2003 GMC Sonoma?
Of course. That truck is an s10 platform. Its going to have the same gauge cluster.
