Pretty good video. Being a mechanic I was entirely here for vehicle specific information, which I did find. In this, as well as the video follow up for the stainless overlay. However, I did find myself getting fairly frustrated at different points. The issues I had were with the “extra” stuff. The phrase “sometimes less is more” I suppose is what got me. Where I was waiting for the next step, rather than explaining that you were going to clean it and that you couldn’t hold the camera, light, and do the work. Maybe steer clear of the extras and stay on point a little more. It’ll shorten your video length a great deal and stay on the topic at hand. Aside from that it was informative, and showed me what I was trying to figure out! I know my “gripes” sound ridiculous but a lot if the time most people are just looking for the straight to the point stuff lol. Thanks for taking the time to make the video!

I have a 2013 tahoe LS. Under the tachometer is a digital readout that scrolls through 9 different items, Total Mileage, Tripomter, fuel range, etc.
On a sunny day when the sun shines in my driver side window, the LED’s aren’t bright enough to see the readout. I do have the dash light control maxed out, but the sun washes out the digital readout. The speedometer, tach, and other gauges are easily readable, but the digital readout below the tach, is readable at night, but seldom readable on a sunny day.
Hoping an updated set of new LED’s would provide more brightness.
Good job! I had to solder my bulbs in ,but I got an 06 Silverado. Wish mine was the easy pop out bulbs. Great video!

Thanks for this, my 04 'Hoe needs replacement cluster bulbs, I ordered blue led's. Autozone(called Advanced and found out AZ full of crap) tried to sell me surface mount crap, I have the same set up you have for bulb numbers. My gear selector is heard to see because I have a couple bulbs out.

The twist in LEDs he installed only work on 1999 to 2002 models. All newer models are soldered in place.
could you use this cluster and bulbs, just simply switch it? the connectors look the exact same
I will also had a idea dont know if its the same kind of bulbs but I was thinking the A/C controller lights if there's away to make those lights blue to match the gages I'm going to have to look into how hard would it be lol
I'm pretty sure I have seen someone else do the A/C lights on UA-cam.
PC194 they gave me. You said PC195. But they work just fine

I did this to my 01 gmc jimmy & had no idea these bulbs didn't seperate from the sockets. I ended up with like 3 butchered finger tips due to them lil old brittle bulbs popping in my fingers while trying my damndest to wiggle & pull them apart lol

You can check polarity by the 2 wires on the LED. one is longer than the onther.
Cathode and annode
Is the long + and short - or vise versa. Tx

I recently did this on my Chevy Silverado with LEDs from amazon. They should have resistors in them already. I did a super clean job with the solder and I thought it turned out great. I tested them with a 9 volt battery and some wire to be sure they all worked and they did. But when I put it in my truck only the blinker lights want to work. Any ideas as to what’s going on? All the other dash lights and stepper motors work as well, just not the lights behind the gauges.
You need to turn the bulbs around. The polarity is off that will fix your problem.

I ordered the exact same thing you did from the exact same place and I can only get 3 to work but those three don’t work when I twist them all the way. I have to wiggle them in just the right spot. Then they’ll come on. But that’s only 3 of them. The other 3 I can’t even get to come on. I know the circuit board is good because all my stock lights worked before
Some people have told me that they had to solder them.
I’m going to have to do this to my 2000 gmc Yukon I bought 2 weeks ago. But the only problem is that the battery light comes on and turns off.
unplug the cluster and plug back in
2004 and newer have soldered in bulbs( watch Deboss Garage he shows how to solder them in) Tahoe Steves must be older year!!

ABS control module is the most likely issue. If you know how to use a soldering iron you can fix it yourself. It’s located on the underside of the truck below the drivers seat. There’s a few videos out there that show you how to fix it.

put a black ziptie on the boot of ur shifter handle mime was torn to an u could see al the metal and wire it looked ugly but the black ziptie worked

Why does half of my dash look good but the other half has a dim blue. Not 100% bright
Some might not be mounted right or not working at all, try taking the cluster out and flipping the LED from the dim side and see if there's a difference.
I’m doing the same to my 2001 Yukon, what year is your? I called the company you used and they don’t exist anymore. Do the light bulbs come off the original socket? Or did you have to replace the socket part to?
If anyone is considering doing this to a 2004 Tahoe, it won't work, the lights are soldered to the board.
so what do you do when lights are going out? do you have to buy the whole circuitboard?

hey, so I aslo have a 2002 Chevy Tahoe, I installed the exact same bulbs you did, however on my dash, for the speedo, upto 50 lights up fine then 60-100 is super dim almost barely noticable, same with the beginning half of the fuel gauge too. Any suggestions/Advice?
I immediately noticed that on his, I doubt its fixable. Prolly only problem with this mod
I would guess being as the new bulbs are not polarity sensitive, it may cause current flow issues.
Are the led bulbs from super bright led’s dimmable??

How are they when driving at night? I want to go with green, but red might be better if it's screwing with your night vision too badly.
They are not too bad. I do have the dimmer turned all the way down, but that is mainly because my gauge pod is so bright.
Where did you order it from
I put the same kind in my 96 chevy and they look amazing, but they are very bright when you run the backroads. And being LED you can not dim them down
Update, I did green and have absolutely no regrets, they look awesome, and they dim well too.

Yeah the Chevy please change that whole thing right there and when my brother got it back on his way home or back to work from picking up the vehicle it started flickering turn off and on and he went back and they said they wanted to do it there and he couldn’t figure out what was wrong but he had to go back to work because he was really running late any recommendations that we could do to fix that

make sure your model year is older than 2004 or the bulbs will be tiny and soldered in.
So the 195s are the ones i need for the 6 main lights
What is the size of led bulbs used T5 or T10 ? Plz let us know.
T10 are the big bulbs the small ones are T5 no need to change the small T5 unless it's burnt.

Bought sum leds and the twist locks but they arent working turned then 180 degrees and still nothing

you could touch pos to ground accidentally and short the whole system to the tune of several thousand bucks.

Would this all work the same on an 07 classic?
I have a 1996 Chevy Silverado and I tried to install some LED bulbs in the dashboard by the instrument cluster.The problem is only one side is working.The other side is doesn't work,could you please tell me what I may be doing wrong?
When you install the leds they only work on one side so that means you have to flip it then it should work
What are those black circle things you changed for the led bulb?
My brother did that to the Tahoe I bought off him Chevy in Installed it and since then it has been going off and on to the point where it rarely turns on and I can’t see nothing on there and it messed with my life as well in the front on one side he took it back and they said they had nothing to do with that which is a total lie because there was nothing wrong with the vehicle before taking it in do you know what we can do to fix it
It sounds like they used cheap bulbs which are known to burn out rather quickly. I would buy some quality bulbs and replace them myself. As you can see in the video they aren't hard to replace if you are somewhat handy with tools. It's a shame you had to experience this, Good luck
My instrument cluster is the one without the bulbs like yours. I ordered them but it's not like yours.

nothing would happen, but you **could** accidentally shout out your electric system.

I’m considering this upgrade. My only concern is if the blue is annoyingly bright. I can’t stand blue lights on the front of home electronics. Of course those aren’t dimmable. Are these reasonable?
they are bright but the stock dimmer helps.

You should be able just to buy those blue lights to going right back in those little grey ones you twist out right...
yes. but twist carefully!
You have to modify standard t10 bulbs to get them to work in these stock grey sockets. The stock bulb is soldered in and not meant to be separated from the grey part, but can be made to work. The new t10 bulbs need to have the leads straitened out and bent to the contact point. Not sure on the smaller t5 bulbs as I did not mess with them.

Is this the same set up for an 02 Silverado? If so which colors are which for the bulbs that are for the rest of the cluster (smaller bulbs) I plan on doing white or green for the gauges. (Big bulbs)

Did you have to change anything other than the bulbs thereself, i ordered a kit that came with the new plugs and led bulbs got it all put in plugged it up and had nothing light up
Thomas Troup did you end up getting your LED's working? I had the same issue...replaced all the lights...reconnected the harness...and nothing.
I changed my gauge lights the same way as you but the gas, oil, and temp lights aren’t quite as bright the main speedometer and rpm lights. Any idea why?
there are a couple more "smaller" bulbs for those . i only changed the main gauge lights in the video. i did not want the other stuff being so bright.
Have you had any problems with the LED bulbs since you made the switch, as far as heat or them burning out early?. Just asking before I make the purchase and switch. Also, are those 194 bulbs?.
it has been a while, but i think i soldered them at some point along the line.
Please help me bro, i tried everything to get them to turn on did everything in the video even screenshot where you showed all the bulbs already in put them exactly the same but still won't turn on.
recheck the connections and solder them if necessary. also check your dimming switch

What year is this? You are lucky, mine is a 2005 and soldered connections a lot more work.

My airbag light stays on now and my buddy hooked his snap on reader to it and said the bulb was not on but it is. Did your airbag light go off once you started it?

The headlight switch and/or the light sensor(on top of dash) are VERY common. i just repaired my headlight switch
I had to replace the headlight switch and battery and my problem was fixed but it did take me a couple of days to figure it out
The new bases lock in at 2 o'clock. How did the back cover fit back on? Or did you not install it?

It says early model or late model how do I know which one my 2000 tahoe is?
late model is a newer car. early model is an older car. by how many years, I don't know. If i compare my 02 tahoe to a 2019 tahoe, i would call the 2019 a late model and mine an early model. whether or not this is correct, i have no idea. i never gave it that much thought.
