A hundred years ago, it was all about finding Heirloom European Blades mounted as Sudanese swords. It's very much like a wise tale... however I own two my father purchased in the 1940s. One is a early Castilian Blade that predates the ones in the video, with a gorgeous early engraved blade. The other has a fine Sudanese silver pommel and grip with a Very nice Running Wolf 🐺 rapier blade. Both remain in wonderful condition due to centuries of being in a desert climate, every time I look at them my heart swells with pride and appreciation. I can't help but remember Kiplings poem about the Sudanese and appreciate the generations of warriors who carried the fine swords into the modern era. ❤
I am surprised that there has not been any survey of the river with a boat-mounted magnetometer. It is a pretty basic precursor to archaeological investigation.
Sounds like a money making 'discovery' to me, just saying. Very interesting video though. My history, 44 years mechanical eng. Interested in ancient weapons. Peace and goodwill.
I find the story that the French Navy did an investigation, yet these swords got sold one at a time or in small batches a bit hard to believe. I find it more likely the "treasure hunters" that are feared are the ones that found the swords and destroyed the archeological record. Business as usual.

Why are they handling them barehanded?
Bc swordfights are gay 🚽
It is bizarre, I'd imagine the oil from fingers would certainly have some effect. I mean swords are incredibly valuable 😂 seems careless of them.
What's the big deal here?
Why the rubber gloves?
